Two problems related to brake grinding noise have been reported for the 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Vehicle: 2007 Jeep 4 door Wrangler (unlimited) experienced complete loss of brakes while coasting uphill. I was approaching us-221 from a secondary road traveling uphill towards a stop sign. When I removed my foot from the accelerator and applied the brakes the pedal went to the floor making a grinding noise. I had no brakes to stop as I approached this busy highway which is heavily traveled by tractor trailers. I managed to stop the vehicle with the emergency brake just before entering the intersection. There was no stall from the engine during the whole event. If I had not acted quickly and panicked it is quite possible me and my family could have been severely injured or possible killed by entering this busy 55 mph highway. I was forced to leave the vehicle in the road and had to direct traffic around it for 1-1/2 hours while I waited for the Chrysler's tow truck. Once again this created a dangerous situation for me and people entering the intersection. Vehicle is at dealer however dealer states he cannot find anything wrong with it and is waiting for a reply from Chrysler on what to do. Chrysler stated yesterday on 9-17-07 that there is no recall for this item on my vehicle. National news states otherwise. Extremely dangerous problem with truck.
- the contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler, and while driving off the ramp of a highway at 20 mph the brakes would not engage properly. The vehicle started to vibrate ,and the contact heard a loud grinding noise. About 10 times and the majority of the time, it was when the vehicle was on an incline. The contact took vehicle to the dealership, and they stated that there was a problem with the electronic stability program (esp), and that in order for contact to avoid the failure he would have to keep the esp deactivated. The contact stated that when he had the esp deactivated he did not experience the failure. Updated.
