Brake Light On problems of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Four problems related to brake light on have been reported for the 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2019

Abs unit failed. Yellow dashboard warning light illuminated. Red brake warning light was not illuminated. The brake pedal when pushed traveled to the floor. Front wheel brakes became completely inoperative as verified by jacking up the front wheels and testing. Rear brakes still operated, but minimally. Suspect the abs unit fails by sticking in a faulty bypass state that disables most of the braking capacity, instead of a fail-safe fault mode.

2 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2010

While turning into my driveway my 2007 Jeep Wrangler x (with 55000 miles) "chimed" and the air-bag , traction control, and anti-lock brake warning lights lit up. Upon investigsting the issue I found that this leaves the saftey systems inactive! a bad "clock spring" in the steering wheel is he cause of all the system failures. My vehicle is no longer covered under warranty, but I feel that this should still be covered by Jeep/Chrysler. This is a major safty concern or me and my family.

3 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2009

Brake light has been in forever, had checked, not an issue but. . . Began noticing on highway. Not so severe to have to stop to regain control. About a year ago iit happened at lower speeds, as few as 35mph, any uneven surface, bump, texture or level change sets it off. Tapping or use of the brakes. "death wobble" occurs. A slight tremor radiating from steering column then through the entire Jeep. So intense that it feels like the tires are turning sideways, maintaining control, steerin and braking extremely difficult. Regular braking does not help. Hars brake only. Haven't come to complete stop. I've always stopped, put back into park and turned it off. Thinking maybe some sort of reset may occur. It helps me to reset my own self anyways! very scary! especially if in a vendor curved part of roadway. . Brake light still on even after inspected (?) took into shop. Mechanic said ball joints needed replaced. Death wobble went away for a few weeks and it's back. Prior alignments~ only regular adjustments required. I tried to pay attention after this 'fix' and determined that braking (even just a tap) starts it and any surface change in the road older Jeeps had a simply fix, tightened a bolt on steering colum. My son is in training, did a visual inspection of the steering colum. Says seemed to me some extra play, nothing like a bolt loose but dark out, multiple components along column, unsure without a lengthier inspection. Nothing by sight. We stopped driving and took it in for inspection/replacement of front end balljoints. Tires have an unfamiliar pattern of wear. Using factory recommend tires, size and pressure. Very little off road. Mostly driven for in town/ highway driving. I hope this helps. Very very scary when this happens. Oh I've tried to outrun. Doesn't work. Lately I've shifted to 4thbeing and can usually regain control. .

4 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2007

I own 1. 5 month old 2007 Wrangler. I was pulling into a parking spot at a local business. I put my foot on the brake and car doesn't stop. I went up on the curb. I brake again. Doesn't stop. I turn the wheel so I wont go into the glass of the business. I hit their patio and brick wall. The car wont back up or move. I turn it off and on again, then it moves. The workers came out to make sure I was ok. I told them the brakes didnt work. I had no idea what was going on and I was terrified to drive my car. I call to have car towed to dealer. I look up online inside the business to see of any similar probs. All over internet there are recalls on brakes of my model, make, year vehicle. At dealer, I mention recall possibility and they have no idea" what I'm talking abt. And have "never heard of such a thing. . . " they were going to test drive" it. Why someone would want to do that when I just told them I had prob with brakes is beyond me. They say its "fine. "they tell me they are going to take off wheels and thoroughly check it. Hook it up to computer and run a few tests. See if it caught any codes. I say fine. Both people that I spoke with asked me if "any brake lights came on. . . Abs or any other right before it happened. "no idea. . . Didnt have time to check during incident. An hour later they come back and tell me "nothing is wrong" "no codes" that "they took for 2nd test drive and its fine. " but they are confident that I can drive it. Mileage on car the same as when I got there. I'm still terrified. I know something happened with my car. And I know that I could have killedsomeone. They told me that they looked up my VIN and no recalls. They told me to call cust service. I did. After getting my info, they told me that they would "get other parties involved. . . " and I should "contact the dealership tomorrow. I try the dealership the next day. No answer the 3 x I try. I call the main cust service line again. Was told"the dealership found nothing wrong. You need to contact your insurance comp to fix your car.
