Vehicle Shudder problems of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Five problems related to vehicle shudder have been reported for the 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2013

The 2007 Jeep Wrangler 4 door has seemed to have several complaints regarding violent shaking. This has happened to me several times where the vehicle shakes so violently it feels like you are having a tire blown out. It almost throws you off the road. I was almost in an accident on the highway. I am nervous and do not think this vehicle is safe.

2 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2013

I was driving on the highway, hit a bump in the road while changing lanes. The car started shaking very violently. I has to pull off the road slowing to about 40 mph in order to regain control of the vehicle and stop the shaking. When the shaking starts the entire vehicle shakes so violently it is hard to steer or even focus on the road because you are shaking too. I have had the vehicle in to Jeep dealerships on a number of occasions and they all tell me the suspension is fine. Finally this last time, after complaining of the "death shake" as I have come to research and discover, they were able to put a larger steering dampener on my vehicle than was there in order to control the shaking. I still feel vibrations at expressway speeds but it is not violent shaking anymore. This repair cost over $250.

3 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2011

I purchased a 2007 four door steel blue Jeep Wrangler from a dealership in kansas. From the start, I had problems with the car shaking violently whenever would hit a bump or pothole in the road. The vehicle came with aftermarket tires and rims that were 18 inches, I purchased the vehicle like that. When I reported the problem to the dealership, I was told 1st that they could not find a problem with it. Then I was told that it could possibly be the tires, then I was told that I needed a heavy duty steering damper. I have since got the tires that originally came with the vehicle put back on them, a new heavy duty steering damper, by the dealership, the tires rotated and balanced and I still have the same issue with the Jeep, it shakes violently and uncontrollably whenever I hit a bump or pothole in the road. I have to bring my vehicle to a complete stop, no matter what speed I'm going 10 mph or 65 mph, put on my hazards and pull over if I can, before resuming driving. I only have about 22000 miles on the vehicle because it is too dangerous to drive. I even purchased a 2nd vehicle to avoid driving the Jeep. But, I am still paying on this Jeep and I should be able to drive it without fear and anxiety about a possibly collision or accident which I experience every time I'm behind the wheel. This winter, I had to drive it for about 2 months because my car was down for repairs, but since I had car fixed I have since parked the Jeep again. I need some serious help, not just for me but for other Jeep owners, if you are so inclined please check out "jk death wobble" as it is termed on the internet and youtube videos and you will know what I have experienced since 2007, and many Jeep owners as well. Thank you for your help. I experience the "death wobble" every time I drive the Jeep without fail, about 2-3 times depending on the road condition, potholes, bumps, and uneven wear.

5 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. When driving over a bump in the road, the vehicle started shaking and vibrating. The wheels also moved to the left and right which caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The first time the incident occurred, he was able to stop the vehicle and drive it to the dealer. The mechanic replaced the exhaust system and a steering arm damper with an oversized one. The brake lines and transmission were also repaired. The failures recurred continuously after the repairs were made. The dealer has unsuccessfully made 15 attempts to repair the vehicle. The contact has refused to drive the vehicle due to the safety risk involved. The contact has requested that the manufacturer and the dealer allow him to return the vehicle; however, they agree that they are unable to diagnose the failure. The contact is certain that the failure is a manufacturers defect. The failure mileage was 3,000 and the current mileage was 55,000.
