Abs failing. Loss of traction control & possible brake failure. Vehicle manufacturer failing to provide parts.
I will be driving down the road and a red lighting bolt will flash on my gauges then the Jeep will either lose power or shut off. I was almost hit by a semi truck due to this. Once I cycle the key goes away till the next time it happens. Also the brake assist will randomly kick on typically applying braking power to the left rear passenger tire. This is not fixed by cycling the key. Jeep has recalled newer Wranglers for these exact issues but when I contacted Jeep they said it would cost me out of pocket.
Issue overview: 2010 Jeep Wrangler has a documented safety issue and the dealership did not agree that there was an issue nor fix the issue, while it was under warranty. I have four pages of specific notes and service dates, etc. As well as the internal official service bulletin that outlines that Jeep knew that the safety concern I was raising was a known issue. I can email or fax this documentation as soon as possible, as this text box will not allow me to include all of the information specifics and supporting documentation.
While driving, the horn stopped working along with the speed control and wipers and directional signals . The airbag light is illuminated. My Jeep Wrangler has just over 30,000 miles on the odometer.
While driving at 65 mph, my Jeep started shaking uncontrollably and violently. I had no control in the car, the only thing I could do was push the brakes. I pulled my 6 speed Jeep into neutral and started slowing down and letting it glide to the side of the road. Still shaking as I am slowing down, the Jeep feels like the whole front end is going to shake apart. All cars behind me slammed on their brakes because they saw I had no control of my Jeep. A state police trooper followed me to the dealership. There is no broken axles, loose tires, tire pressure is good. They said they could not find anything in the "express service center". This is a 2010 Wrangler with 75,000 miles that is driven on the highway daily for educational purposes. There must be something done about this "death wobble".
Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle began to violently shake. The vehicle had to be slowed down before the shaking stopped. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnosis and the contact was informed that there was no way to disengage the relay that caused the vehicle to shake. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 41,000. Sm.
When driving the 2010 Jeep Wrangler unlimited sport at 40mph and hit a bump the Jeep vibrates and makes you feel like you are losing control of the car. The only way to stop this is to hit the brakes and hope that you do not have to steer the car since you cannot when this occurs. I called the dealership and they had a name for this problem which is "death wobble". I also noticed that my tires wear much quicker in the front then the rear of the Jeep.
E s p a deadly idea that is being forced upon us. May of 2010 I purchased a Jeep Wrangler unlimited. First weekend of September I had e s p failure. Took it to Jeep the following wed. They attempted to return it to me unable to duplicate, no parts replaced. The problem did not "go away ". E s p failures have been happening since 2007. A safety device to save you in a crash should not cause the crash. Only about 12,300 miles on the vehicle. Factory stock. No mods. Jeep buying back the vehicle will not protect me or my loved ones. The others will still be out there on the road. Forced legislation of this will actually create other problems in addition to the failures. Various "hack jobs" will be performed in order to remedy the problem but will actually cause more problems. I already have to Dodge weaving drivers for other reasons. Drunks are at least attempting to drive. Has no one any common sense anymore? if I wanted to be driven I would hire a chauffeur. Remember the auto seat belts that threw people out of their cars and caused them to be killed or paralyzed. ( I personally know someone that this happened to). How about the air bags decapitating children? that really saved lives there. Let us not forget the recent prius failures.
