Vehicle engine light came on after starting engine and driving 30 feet from initial parked location. Vehicle was stopped and explosion occurred under the hood while driver was still in vehicle. No previous indication there was any issue with vehicle. Upon driver emergency exit of vehicle, further explosions and large flames engulfed the vehicle resulting in a total loss of vehicle within minutes.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle hesitated as the engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that passenger side engine head needed to be replaced due to a misfired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, who refused to provide any assistance since the vehicle had a salvage title. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 23,500. Pm.
My 2012 Jeep Wrangler was being driven at 40mph when the clutch inadvertently went out. I am concerned that there might be a greater problem related to the flywheel and the related clutch assembly of these factory parts on this vehicle. I only use this vehicle to commute in the city and my driving habits are mild. I do not use this vehicle off-road and I live in the state of florida which is incredibly flat. The clutch and surrounding assembly should not defect at 40k miles.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. While driving approximately 55 mph, a loud ticking nose emitted from the engine compartment. The failure recurred whenever the vehicle was in operation. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that engine cylinder number two misfired. The contact scheduled an appointment for the vehicle to be repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.
Parked it at 7:30 pm and woke up at 2:30am and it was on fire.
I have a 2012 Jeep Wrangler unlimited rubicon, no modifications have been made to the vehicle. I bought it new and have had numerous problems with it from the beginning. The most recent problem has already been reported on this website by someone else. I was driving and the check engine and stability control lights both came on. Once this happens, acceleration is significantly compromised and the transmission continues to shift back and forth. I have a lifetime warranty on the vehicle and took it to the dealer. They replaced some sensors and told me it was good to go and come pick it up. Five minutes after I left the dealer both lights came back on. Took it back, they replaced some other parts and told me it was ready. Picked it up and within ten minutes both lights were back on. Took it back and they replaced the computer, I waited this time, they said those codes were gone although a new code was now showing up. Told me I could drive it and they would order me another computer. Yesterday, while sitting in the parking lot of the movie theater a bell started going off, the oil light came on, sway bar light came on, all of the gear position lights came on and the engine ran up to about 6000 rpms. I turned it off and it would not restart. After about 15 minutes it restarted and I was able to drive for about 2 minutes and everything came back on and the car would not go over 20 mph. I made it home and a wrecker picked it up and took it to the dealership. I am waiting to hear what they think it is this time.
I'm being the only owner of this unit & I had changed the oil on time. A valve lifter is sounding very hard, I want to know if there's a recall for that matter, cause I know a bunch of Wrangler with the same problem.
Attempting to accelerate from stop at traffic signal, dashboard trouble lights illuminated, esc and antilock brake system activated, effectively nullifying driver throttle input. Vehicle would not accelerate.
Rear ended another vehicle at a speed of approximately 25 mph. The air bags did not deploy at time of impact or at all. Noticed that the rear windshield wipers did not work as well as the automatic door locks. Apparently this is a electrical issue that could have caused some serious injuries.
The engine malfunction light came came on so I took my 2012 Jeep Wrangler to the dealership. They said one of the cylinders misfired, but it was not a major issue, so they reset the software and I drove the vehicle home. A few weeks later, the engine malfunction light came on again, so I took my Jeep back to the dealership. This time cylinder number 2 misfired and they told me the cylinder head needed to be replaced. They said my Jeep will be ready tomorrow.
I received a safety recall notice for my vehicle over 4 months ago. I've been trying ever since to have my car repaired but continue to be told that Jeep has put a hold on the part. That the part is out of stock nationwide, etc. I'm very worried about the safety of my vehicle.
Check engine had been coming on and going off for a few weeks finally has stayed on steady for over a week now. Called my dealer service department yesterday and told them about the problem. They told me to reset the computer to see if it would stay cleared. Reset before leaving work got about two miles down the road and it's burning bright again. I called them and they asked me to bring it in the following morning. Dropped it off and got a ride to work. They called me before lunch and informed me that I had a bad head on the drivers side of my Jeep and it would have to be replaced. So I'm Jeepless for a few days bumbing a ride to work until it's repaired.
I was driving over the weekend and everything was fine. My Jeep seemed a little slugish over the last few weeks and the engine light came on and took it to the dealer to get an oil change and for them to let me know why the engine light is on. They came back and said it was a defective cylinder head and that it would be replaced under warranty. While I was fortunate to take it in promptly, it does concern me that this problem might cause my other heads to be suseptible to the same failure.
Item is a recall, yet Chrysler is not shipping replacement parts to dealers in timely fashion. Absolutely ridiculous as this is a very dangerous situation. All local 5 dealers claim there is a waiting list for parts. Recall notice is n28.
Received the recall safety notice and brought the Jeep into fields in glencoe, IL. Was told the part was on backorder. It has been 3 months and the part still is not in. Called to check and they say that only one part gets sent every 14 days and people since August have been waiting. I'm now #100 on the list. If I do the math correct in 4 years I'll get the part. Hello? is anyone out there? safety recall!!! this is ridiculous. Called Chrysler and they said the parts are sent as soon as possible. Maybe they should go to a different provider.
I have received two recall notices about an oil cooler tube and power steering fluid return tube contact. I have contacted the dealership multiple times, but they have told me that gm will only send one part every two weeks, and they have yet to receive any parts for the recall. This issue needs to be resolved.
After commute of 35 - 40 minutes from work I pulled into my garage and closed the door down for the night as usual and went inside . I did smell a slight burning smell but thought it was related to outside fridge that failed. After being inside a few minutes we heard a noise coming from the garage. I went to check it out and found the starter on the Jeep was spinning on its own. My wife noticed smoke and then flames under Jeep. I managed to get Jeep out of garage and fire put out and disconnected the battery. The fire was basically contained to the area around the starter and related wiring/hoses. The Jeep dealer picked up the Jeep and has it now. I contacted Jeep factory customer representative rep with the specifics of the incident and was told my file would be turned over to the "special investigations" department. I can't imagine what the outcome of this incident would be had we not heard the noise coming from the garage or if my commute had been an additional 20 -30 minutes longer.
Safety recall n28/NHTSA 13v-234 notification code n28 notice received approx. 4 months ago. Went to the dealership this am 2/5/2014 to have the repair done. Dealer said that they only get one part per month so they put me on a wait list. Apparently there are 15 ahead of me at jones Ford/Chrysler in wickenburg az. So it looks like a year plus wait. Can't be much of a part regarding the issue so am at a loss at the delay. The failure however can result in a incident. Some prodding to get parts out to the dealers may be in order.
2012 Jeep Wrangler unlimited sport; 1st incident with hot oil message, resulted in dealership fixing the recall they all of a sudden had parts for (that were on back order for months-and for a recall). When I told the dealership I had a case id with Chrysler, they changed their tune and had the part(s). This was at 26000 miles. 2nd incident: I had driven to NY from SC with no issues while driving. Next day, cold start, hot oil warning. Took to a local auto repair shop and they "cleared the error" stating there was no apparent cause and they "didn't know why" the error occurred. 3rd incident: called dealership I bought the Jeep from and told the guy (whom I know by name) that I was having the same problem, "hot oil message. " he stated, "hot oil message, I don't know what you're talking about!" really??? he was clearly lying, and I knew right then he was of no help to me. So, I went to the nearest Chrysler in a town 15 minutes away where I had moved to as it was closer anyway. . . Letting the liar-part go, thinking the other dealership would surely do the right thing. This is at 34000 mi. The dealership has my Jeep currently and told me today that the dealership I bought it from wrote "added computer to Jeep," as the supposed fix for the original issue (recall). The guy at the closest dealership told me the computer wouldn't even "talk" to him so he couldn't diagnose the problem until he figures out how to get the 1st computer to "talk" to him so he can get to the 2nd computer and try to diagnose an issue with the 2nd computer. Got a call this afternoon that it was driven around town with no problems after clearing the error message again. Awaiting final results now. I'm 2000 miles away from being out of warranty. Researching internet reveals numerous accounts of same issue with many people barely escaping engulfed in flames Jeeps. This is an issue. Class action sought.
Was told in the fall the recall needed to be done--October. The dealer, jim click Jeep allegedly put me on the list. I spoke to the service manager today and he said there are 3500 Jeeps on his list and he's received 20 parts from Chrysler. Said Chrysler is dragging their heals and not providing parts in a timely manner.
Approx 4 months and 3700 miles of having my 2012 Jeep Wrangler sahara unlimited, during regular driving all dash lights came on, the warning chimes were on, all gauges dropped and continued to flash, the vehicle slowed down and the lights remained flashing and flickering for about another 20 seconds I couldn't accelerate. This has happened over 30 times since then and almost caused a serious accident on the interstate. This still continues to happen regularly and after showing them 2 videos on separate occasions dealership says they can't duplicate the problem so there is nothing they can do. Now at 47000 miles my warranty is gone and this time when it happened the check engine and airbag remained on. I don't know if the two issues are related or are separate, but now it kind of "sputters and put-puts" when its in park and won't accelerate properly. Dealership wants $150. 00 just to look at this issue again and tell me they can't duplicate the fault. This is a serious safety issue; it has never been driven off road, is garage kept, and not used everyday. I don't want my Jeep to catch fire or continue to put me and my children in a position where when could get hurt because of these issues. If anyone else has had these issues any help would be appreciated.
I can,t get dealer to repair my recall notice. I started on oct 2013 and bend back 4 times and they never have the parts. The dealer is anderson 3920north highway 95 lake havasu city az86404.
Vehicles cylinder head is faulty and needed replacement.
I have had two notices for recall. I contacted Jeep in early October and November, they say they don't have parts and can't get any. Why do you do recalls if you don't have the parts. I want this fixed before something happens.
After receiving safety recall n28 / NHTSA 13v-234 from Chrysler, I contacted my local dealership (from whom I purchased the vehicle) requesting to get the transmission oil cooler tube serviced. They informed me that the part needed to be ordered (1) at a time with at least (7) days between orders. As a result, they said my vehicle cannot be serviced for 20+ weeks, putting myself and my family in jeopardy during this time. While I understand it is not the dealerships fault, this systems failure must be addressed immediately.
After receiving a recall notice (safety recall n28/NHTSA 13v-234 transmission oil cooler tube) in the mail, I called my local dealership (clear lake Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep, houston, TX) to schedule a service appointment to remedy the possible problem explained in the recall notice. Unfortunately, I was told that this dealership is only receiving approx. 1 - 2 of the parts needed for this problem per week and they have a list of customers for those parts already long enough that will take approx. A year to fill. I was told that I should continue to call the dealership approx. Once a week and see if they, by any chance, received enough of the parts to fix my vehicle. I find this unacceptable! I do not want to wait a year to get my vehicle fixed and feel that I (nor anyone else) should not have to wait that long to get a possible defect in my vehicle taken care of. Are there any other options for me? what can I do to get my vehicle taken care of immediately? I do not want to wait to get this problem taken care of and risk the possibility of the problem materializing and causing an accident that could result in my vehicle being destroyed or, even worse, injuring myself or others! I appreciate any help or advice you could give me in this matter! thank you.
I received a safety recall n28 / NHTSA 13v-234. Transmission oil cooler tube. Called rick hendrick Jeep in charleston, SC to schedule repair. I was told that they can only get 1 part every 14 days and there are 80 people ahead of me. Doing the math that means they will get 26 parts over 365 days, so it will be 3 years before they can fix the problem. Unacceptable.
Recall notification received in Nov 2013. Dealer says they only get one repair kit per week. I was put on a wait list along with many others. No time or date when they would call back. Chrysler/Jeep should be producing more as I received pre-notification a month prior to receiving this one.
Received a recall in September 2013 that the oil cooler tube and the power steering fluid return tube might rub causing a loss of fluids which might cause a engine breakdown or a fire in the engine. Went to my Chrysler dealer and my Jeep was inspected and determined that parts needed to be replaced. Parts were ordered and dealer having trouble getting parts. How in the world can it take six months to get these parts in stock? I blame Chrysler for this not the dealer. I checked my dealer 04/09/14 and I am in the dealers system and will be notified when the parts come in to their dealership.
Check eng light came on . Went to dealer they said no2 cylinder bad needs new head wtf theirs only 20000 miles on it . Its now oct8th still waiting on the head. They should put out a recall. I'll never buy a pos Chrysler product again. O yea forgot to say this my wife's truck she drives it every day to her job at nbc.
Rec'd Chrysler safety recall notice #1 in August - called dealership where Jeep was purchased - no parts, don't know when they'll get them in - told to wait until 2nd letter comes with further instructions. Rec'd Chrysler safety recall notice #2 on November 1st - called dealership again, still no parts, told they are getting 1 replacement part every 7-10 days and there is extreme backlog from manufacturer. Was also told that letter should state this dealership does not have part - not true. Was put on proverbial wait list for part. Also was told if any further damage happens to vehicle because of said part malfunction - Chrysler will foot the repair bill for the entire engine. Yeah right. Let's see if we get notice #3. . . .
Engine brakes and vehicle slows down momentarily for about 1-2 seconds then recovers. This has happened at least 6-7 times. At least one of these times the skid warning comes up but this happens on a freeway in dry conditions traveling in a straight line no brakes were applied by driver.
Safety recall n28/NHTSA 13v-234 transmission oil cooler tube after having appointment rescheduled twice, dealership stated that they are only receiving parts for this recall once every 15 days. They have a wait list of around 40-50 people which means that my vehicle will not be taken care of for over a year. This is unacceptable.
Jeep issued recall n28 on June 4, 2013. Since that time, I have been unable to obtain a repair despite attempts at two dealerships (salerno duane and nielsen Dodge) to schedule the repair. As of a phone call today (March 13, 2014) with the Chrysler group recall assistance center, chrylser is saying that they are only allowing 1-3 parts to be shipped to dealers per week. The dealer from whom I purchased the vehicle (nieslen Dodge) has confirmed this today via email and says it may be up to six months before they have the parts to repair my vehicle under recall n28. At that rate, it will be longer than 1 year from when recall n28 was issued to when the repair takes place (assuming parts are available by then). This is an unreasonable amount of time for the repair of this defect.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the malfunction indicator light illuminated as the vehicle began to loose power. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated that cylinder two had misfired and the cylinder head needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 21,314.
