1 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2026

Fca is not handling this recall professionally. Dealerships are stating they do not handle the towing, despite this being a do not drive recall that has resulted in deaths. Fca has used a call center that employs people who barely speak english. Lack of ability to communicate with the customer and dealership staff should disqualify someone from serving in this capacity. The service department at my local dealership seems to be suggesting I just drive the vehicle down, which contradicts the do not drive portion of this recall. I do not believe fca is acting in good faith to perform these recalls in a safe manner for the customer.

2 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2025

The clock spring has been identified as being bad, (nothing in the steering wheel works). I have owned it for 5 years and it hasn't worked for at least 3-4 of those years. I don't know if it has been replaced. . . However, for something that is a safety concern, such as the airbags, I would think that it would work longer than 1-2 years. . . If it has been previously replaced. I can't find any records of it. The air bag lights have been on for a few years; I thought it was normal. I wasn't aware of any recalls on the clock spring/air bags until recently.

3 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2025

The airbag light is staying on, the horn is not working, inoperable steering wheel buttons (for switching between dashboard options like mileage, temperature, and information) as well as radio and cruise control buttons. Occasionally, all dashboard lights will come and and flicker, the dome light and all interior lights will flicker as well for a few seconds. I believe the Jeep is affected by the clockspring issue covered by s40 / NHTSA 16v-288. However, because my VIN is not connected with this recall, no manufacturer service center will address it.

4 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2024

The airbag light is turning on and off, and I'm wondering if it's related to the same recall that was issued previously.

5 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2024

Driver side airbag warning light came on, took vehicle to dealer for inspection and report is the airbag system has a fault in it and whole system will need to be replaced. Vehicle is available for inspection, and issue has been confirmed by dealer. Told airbag unlikely to go off, but may not deploy in the event of an accident.

6 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2023

I have numerous warning lights all on at the same time and constantly chiming as I drive. These are the following lights that are all check engine, air bag, abs, brake, and traction control. I have read past communication which addresses problems. I truly believe none of these issues were addressed prior to my purchase in 2020.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated the air bags, and the traction control warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with needing the clockspring to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. A dealer was not contacted. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 16v288000 (air bags) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,500.

8 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2022

My dash indicates that there is a problem with airbags, service engine soon, tire, and brakes. My controls on the steering wheel will not work. My seat belt doesnt stay hooked. I sometimes smell like a oil burning smell. Had to replace oil housing. And suspension feels very loose. My vehicle is not in recall, but make and model are with all recalls needing fixed. What do I do now?.

Failure Date: 06/26/2022

Bad clock spring. Air bag light will not go off, even after passenger air bag was replaced for recall. . Also no controls will work on the steering wheel.

10 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2022

Was in a car accident in which my Jeep Wrangler sport rolled twice and the front end is smashed. The car adjustors reviewed it as totalled out. The driver, I was the driver, airbags did not deploy. I'm highly concerned with this considering the damage to the vehicle and the wreck happening at a speed of over 50 mph.

11 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2022

The vehicle has a drivers side airbag fault and problem with the clockspring. This is not a recall but seems as though it should be as other models have recalls for the exact same thing.

According to the dealership the part for this recall is on indefinite back order with no eta of arrival I want to know why I can’t get my recall fixed if it’s saying parts are readily available.

Clock spring is apparently damaged and not allowing the horn, airbag deployment or radio controls on the steering wheel to function properly.

17 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2020

I have received two notices about this airbag recall. Both times I called the same Jeep dealership service department and was told they would call me when they had the part. They never returned a phone call either time. Today, I called a 2nd dealership and they are fixing the recall in a matter of days. The first dealership that is completely abdicating their responsibility in regards to this recall is jake sweeney Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram, 85 w kemper rd, cincinnati, OH 45246; (513) 782-1000.

18 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2020

My steering wheel controls are no longer working. This includes the horn, channel and volume control. They will work when the steering wheel is turned 45deg from top dead center. My research shows that this issue is caused by the "clock" spring assembly behind the air bag. Jeep currently has a recall out for rhd Wranglers and their clock spring assembly. I believe there are also issues with the lhd (left hand drive) models as well. I am taking this to the dealer in the morning. Note the problem occurs when the vehicle is in motion or not.

19 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2019

Clock spring driver side is what error code read recall on passenger side fixed. Now reading drivers side clock spring.

20 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2019

Dealer says I will have to pay for the recalls out on the Jeep Wrangler I own. One is for the clock spring recall which I never received. Now there is another recall on the airbags. I should not have to pay to get these fixed.

2014 right hand drive Jeep Wrangler unlimited sport with 139,571 miles. While driving found steering wheel controls would not work may 2019. Dealer found code saying cockspring has electrical failure. Item was replaced for the 2nd time - last being at 73,416 mile under a safety recall s40 in 2016. Still using the same - not improved Jeep/Chrysler- part which cost me $622. 74 to replace which lasted 66,155 miles between replacements. This defective part affects airbag deployment. No improvement in recalled part by Jeep/Chrysler ????????? even though it is a defective part. They use the same defective part to replace one that has an electrical failure.

Early may 2019 my Jeep's steering wheel controls started malfunctioning and now completely not working. The horn stopped working, radio and hands free controls on the steering wheel. I can not use my dash screen at all and it's just showing - - . I could not use my horn on may10th and was cut off and as a result was in an accident. The front end was significantly damaged and the airbags didn't deploy and I busted my face on the steering wheel and hit head on windshield. Diagnostic scan said there was 0 codes prior to accident and that triggered me to do research on the clock spring recall but my VIN is not under it???.

27 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2019

Takata recall we got the noticed about the recall. How it could be life threatening. What I don't understand is how a recall can be put out like that and the parts are not available. We took our Jeep to the local dealership was told part had to be ordered. Little over a month and the part still wasn't in. Needless to say our Jeep was in a wreck. Now my husband has nightmares because we were heading for a median wall straight on. Some how he got the wheel turned just enough so we hit the corner of the bumper. Thank god the air bags didn't deploy as I could have been badly hurt or died. I don't understand why getting parts takes so long. Someone needs to be held accountable when it is the matter of life and death. I have been in touch with Jeep and they wanted to know where our Jeep was so they could look at it. Why does that matter?! it doesn't change the fact that it takes so long to get parts. Please understand this is my whole reason in writing you. Consumers should not have to wait for parts especially when that part is in a vehicle. The date below is the date of our accident.

30 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2019

Takata recall-I received a recall notice on my 2014 Jeep air bag. It stated that it was extremely important to take steps to repair my vehicle to ensure the safety of myself and my passengers. I scheduled an appointment with my local dealer where I purchased my Jeep. A few days later the dealership called and told me that they did not have the necessary parts to fix my Jeep to make it safe. I asked when they expected to have the part and they said they did not know, that the company had gone bankrupt and did not make the airbag. I told them I did not feel comfortable with that answer and that I did not want to drive my Jeep in fear that the airbag might erupt causing death to myself or my passengers. I asked them if they could disassemble the air bag so as to relieve this possibility of injury or death and they said no they could not. This is unacceptable and I am reaching out to you as instructed in the aforementioned letter. Please help! respectfully, janet h. Mitchell, rn bsn.

Failure Date: 02/25/2019

Takata inflater. The problem isn't the recall. The problem is getting the dealership to fix it in a timely manner. The dealership says they don't know when they will have parts that Chrysler (fiat) is rationing them. Why is my safety in jeopardy because Jeep won't approve parts?.

34 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2019

The clockspring needs to be replaced in my car. This is a five year old car. This should not be an issue. This seems like a safety issue and a defect as previous models have been recalled for this issue. Horn doesn't work. Cruise control doesn't work. Buttons do not work. It's my understanding this can cause the air bag to not work.

35 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2019

I have contacted a local dealer as well as Jeep directly and have been told that the part to repair my vehicle is not available. This has been on going for three months.
