While driving on the highway, my Jeep completely shut off and I lost control of everything the staring and I have no clue why it just shut off. I’m worried if I drive it I could do this while I’m on the highway and the third lane and I may end up in a collision.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2026

I purchased a used 2015 Jeep Wrangler from a dealership in new york. At the time of sale, the vehicle had an open urgent safety recall (19v-018) for a defective takata passenger airbag inflator. This recall was never disclosed to me by the dealership prior to or at the time of purchase. The recall advisory was noted on the nys inspection report conducted the same morning the vehicle was sold to me, but was not communicated to me in any way. I discovered the open recall after experiencing repeated mechanical failures following purchase. Four days after purchase the vehicle overheated and had to be towed — the coolant system was found to be completely empty. An independent licensed mechanic subsequently inspected the vehicle and stated on record that the mechanical defects appeared to be pre-existing conditions that existed prior to the sale. The vehicle currently has an unrepaired takata airbag inflator which the manufacturer has identified as capable of exploding and sending metal fragments into the vehicle interior at high speed, risking serious injury or death to occupants. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The recall remains unrepaired. The dealership was contacted and a manager verbally acknowledged they did not disclose the known defect prior to sale.

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2026

Our 2015 Jeep Wrangler jk unlimited just caught on fire. I happened to be in my daughter’s bedroom, 20 feet away from where the Jeep was parked. I thought I was seeing flames reflecting from the tv, but I realized that they were real. My next thought was that my husband was building a firepit fire. I thought that was weird because he was doing it in the front yard, but I didn’t think any more about it because I was so focused on my work. I went back to work for a second, but something told me to look again. I did, and then realized that it was the Jeep that was on fire. I screamed for my husband, but couldn’t find him; I was scared that he was in the Jeep. Actually, he had been in the back yard and heard me screaming, so he ran up front to see what was happening. I called 911 while my husband tried to put the fire out with the water hose, which didn’t help- the flames kept getting higher. It took firefighters a while to extinguish the flames and to get it cooled off. The engine appears to be melted. It is in our yard and available for inspection. The fire fighters made a report that my husband has requested. We’re waiting on the insurance company to contact us. The fire smelled electrical. We smelled no gasoline. I was absolutely horrified thinking about what might have happened if it had ignited at night when no one was looking. My daughter, my pets, my husband, and I could have all been casualties of this spontaneous fire. The fact that it was day time, the unusual coincidence that I was where I was so that I saw the fire, and the fact that my husband parked on a different side of the yard than usual, all probably are the reasons we are alive today. Had any one of those events not been in play, it could have been a very different outcome. My husband had no indication that there was a problem with the Jeep. He’d just driven it. He reported no odors and no problems at all. He takes excellent care of it, so it was in great condition.

5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2025

I am having my oil cooler housing replaced once again after having replaced only 4 years ago. I am on my 3rd radiatior and 3 thermostat. This Jeep is not driven hard or offroad and has been maintained in excellent condition. This engine is junk and not safe. I have not had warning lights only oil drippings in the driveway yet the oil level doesnt seem to change. If not caught this will cause your engine to lock up.

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2025

On a trip on 7/3/2025 out of state the engine failed due to a blown head gasket , which is the third engine related problem I have experienced . Other issues include: broken exhaust valve spring, cracked oil filter housing. With being the original owner and having only 84,000 miles I feel this has to be an issue Jeep is having with my engine 3. 6 liter v6. I am lodging a formal complaint to hopefully, have help with the $11,000 quoted price to replace my engine. Thank you.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2025

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at 40-50 mph on the highway far right lane, several unknown warning lights illuminated as smoke was coming from under the hood. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal felt as if the friction was lost against her foot, and the accelerator pedal traveled all the way to the floorboard as the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact immediately pulled over to the side of the highway, turned off the vehicle, opened the front driver's side door, and noticed smoke and flames coming from beneath the vehicle. The fire department was notified and extinguished the fire. A fire department report was filed. No physical injuries were sustained; however, the contact stated she sustained emotional distress. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic; however, the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was being stored at the independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 138,934.

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2025

The component that is failing is unknown. Unknown to mechanics because a code is not thrown. I can be driving in my neighborhood, on the highway or coasting and my Jeep stalls. Everything else is working, radio, heater just the rpm goes to zero. I have to quick turn on my hazards and prey I can coast to safety. Once out of traffics way and I am in park my car will restart no problem. My safety is at risk because it will happen on the highway. My mechanic has checked all the sensors, fuel pump and filter, battery cables, alternator you name it its been checked or replaced. I have read Jeep forums to see what others are saying and there are over 100 other Jeeps that have this same problem. People are spending thousands of dollars to change out computers several times for it to keep happening and Jeep has no answers. It first happened two years ago, then about one time 6 months later and then 6 months are that it happened again. But recently its been happening everyday. No matter it I am coasting, on the highway or in my local area it will stall. No warning lights no engine lights just no response in the gas peddle when it stalls. This is going to be super dangerous if other Jeeps keep stalling on the highways. Check out forums it happens all the time. Jeep dealers just want to keep changing sensors for 200 here and there.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2025

So I was driving into work on the interstate yesterday around 10am, and my Jeep started to die out of nowhere. I almost got in a wreck. I was able to pull over on the side, and the engine light came on and I took it straight to the auto mechanic. I guess my oil filter housing unit is bad and is causing my oil to leak. The auto mechanic said this is a known issue in the design flaws of crysler vehicles including my Jeep Wrangler with the 3. 6l engines. This could have gone much worst for me, and after doing some more research this is happening in their 3. 6l engines and is a confirmed design flaw. The issue is reported to affect vehicles with the pentastar v6 engine, including models like the Jeep Wrangler, Chrysler 300, and Dodge charger, from around 2013 to 2021. They are saying it's not a safety issue, yet I almost caused an accident as my Jeep started to die while driving 70 mph. This needs to be recalled ASAP!!! it more than likely has already caused accidents.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2025

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who determined that there was a misfire in cylinders #1 and #2, and the right intake valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle remained at the dealer and had not been driven since. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,096.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2025

Lack of oil in the heads after sitting for a while results in dry valve train at start up and over time results in premature failure of hydraulic lifters not pumping up and rocker arms and cams being dry until oil reaching these parts.

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2025

Same problem that I'm having is happening to thousands of people. People are either swapping engines ($20k+) or fixing for ($5k+)sand debris left in 3. 6 engine at time of manufacturing that causes cooling system repair and eventually engine head replacement because of misfire warning. My Jeep has 60k miles. Have already replace radiator 2 years ago and now I'm getting misfire on cylinder 2. Ran compression test on cylinder 2 . Only 80 psi showing on gauge compared to 150 psi in the other cylinders. Head is bad. There has been a extended warranty on older Jeeps with same engine to fix the issue but, not for 2014 and up. Which makes no sense. Please help.

13 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2024

While driving at an 50 mph speed, the check engine warning light illuminated and flashing continuously. The vehicle was not in drivable condition since it was unusually vibrating while either standing or driving at very low speed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that there was a cylinder #2 misfire, and that the valve, cylinder head or crack on the casting causing this issue. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2024

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that there was a cylinder #2 misfire, and that the valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2024

2015 original owner, developed misfire cylinder #4 p0304, replaced coils, plugs, injectors, harness on that side. Misfire still present, noted others have reported issues with cylinder head (valves, cams, rockers). Engine has a slight tick, found no recalls on NHTSA site except for 2014 versions with same engine for this exact issue.

16 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2024

Cylinder 4 misfire.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2024

The engine has a known failure causing a cylinder misfire that is resolved by replacing the cylinder heads. This is a known issue to fca and caused an extension of the powertrain warranty for the 2010-2014 models but does not cover later engines, that are still experiencing the same issues. The covered years needs to be extended to 2018 or beyond and all out-of-pocket repair costs should be refunded to the consumer.

18 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2024

I was driving and all the dash board lights came on and it started warning beepings then it would not go over 35mph the abs module was affected because it has a defective eyelet in the tipm module wiring connector that allows water to seep in I had a level 2 system testing done to find the defect. Jeep is aware of the problem because when I tried to order a new abs module I was told it was not available because they are re-engineering it.

19 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2024

My Jeep has the pentastar 3. 6l engine and has recently developed what is known as the “pentastar tick”. This is caused by a design flaw with the valvetrain, specifically the lifters/rocker arms that causes excessive wear which leads to the tick, which may then lead to engine failure and loss of control. This is a very common problem with the 3. 6 engine and fca should be held responsible for the safety recall. Fca has already acknowledged the problem on 2012-2014 engines, and extended the warranty, but not on the later engines. Please look out for the consumer and hold them accountable.

20 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2024

The radiator is poorly built and leaks, I have had mine replace several times by the dealership this is dangerous because it causes overheating in the engine which can cause hose to bust and engine to seize up . The oil filter house is engineered incorrect and all of them have been breaking causing oil to leak which again, ruins other components in the engine because of loss of oil. Its dangerous because the oil that leaks down through the outer portion of the engine, through to the sides and leaks over the bottom of the transmission onto the ground which 1. Environmental hazard- oil leaking causes water pollution, soil contamination, harm to animals and plants 2. Leaking oil is a fire hazard and safety issues for other vehicles causing slippery conditions for other vehicles 3. Causes engine damage and eventually failure I urge you to obtain the records of all the repairs Jeep dealers did both under warranty and past the warranty dates. Your team will see what an issue this is and the 10000000s of Jeep Wranglers that have had these unsafe problems with the oil filter housing and radiator issues during and after the warranty. Jeep / Chrysler have created a deceptive way for revenue by allowing Jeep dealers to charge the customers for faulty engineering so they can gain profits in repairs that is the manufacturer's own fault thereby gouging Jeep Wrangler owners.

21 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/29/2024

Check engine light came on for misfire in cylinder 4. Jeep lost power when on the road.

22 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2024

The traction control light and abs dash lights will come on and the vehicle will jerk and bog down while driving. It is very dangerous and needs to be fixed. I looked on Jeep forum to see if I could see what's going on with it and there were a bunch of Jeeps that have the same problem.

23 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2024

I have just replaced the engine oil filter housing on my 2015 Jeep Wrangler unlimited rubicon for the fourth time the first three replacements were at east hills Jeep on long island n. Y the fourth repair was at willis Ave repair and diagnostic in albertson n. Y at a cost of $859. 33. Ongoing problem with thousands of other Jeeps owners reporting the same issue. During the course of these breakdowns, I’ve had to have my vehicle towed to the repair place twice as the oil had drained out of the vehicle causing fatigue and overheating to the engine. I currently has 95,000 miles on my Jeep witch is well taken care of and serviced at the east hills Jeep dealership. My concern is future damage to my engine due to the extreme temperatures caused by the lack of oil and overheating due to this defect. How is it that the manufacturer is not held responsible for an obvious defect in a crucial engine component causing multiple replacements to thousands of similar vehicles.

24 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2024

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The check engine warning light was flashing. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the oil pressure sensor circuit had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to two other local dealers, marino Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (5133 w irving park rd, chicago, IL 60641) and Dodge parts overstock parts (2875 mall hill dr, lakeland, FL 33810), where it was diagnosed the oil pressure sensor circuit had failed and needed to be replaced. The oil pressure sensor circuit was replaced, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 107,272.

25 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2024

Cranked my vehicle from a cold start and it started running very rough. Had a mechanic put a code scanner on it and it read cylinder #2 misfire. I have been told this is very problematic with the 3. 6 pentastar engine and a costly repair. If this is a factory defect I would like to be informed about any and all considerations to which I am entitled to. Thank you very much.

26 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2024

Ticking noise in engine from lifters and faulty pin. Potential failure for cams.

27 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2024

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the component that failed is the oil filter housing/assembly. It was changed out by the pep boys I do not have it on hand but upon research it appears that this is a known issue on the 3. 6 and the 3. 2 Chrysler pentastar engines. Mopar made this part out of entirely plastic and it is now failing on a ton of vehicles. The replacement parts are all made out of metal/aluminum. Safety: this not only put myself at a safety risk but also puts other motorists on the road at risk. Not to mention the environmental safety that this can cause. The plastic part contains the oil filter for the engine. After time it warps and fails causing cracks and seal leaks that allows oil to drain out of the engine, onto the transmission manifold and all over the ground/road. There is no warning for this, one day you will walk out and find your vehicle bleeding all of its oil all over the pavement. This could happen to anyone at any time. I would hate to be on a motorcycle driving behind a Chrysler engine when their engine decides to fall apart and slick up the expressway with motor oil. Jeep/Chrysler knows that this is happening, they know it’s a problem because the replacement part is made of metal instead of plastic, and they refuse to do anything about this even under warranty. This is a part that is never supposed to go bad on any cars, this is not a wear and tear part. I would like to see them held accountable for their (lack of) actions.

28 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2023

At 134,000 miles the engine developed a loud ticking. My garage reported that rocker arms, cam shafts and heads needed rrplacement. They recommended that Jeep dealer should be performing the work so that I might have a parts warranty. The dealer reported back that the work would be extensive and recommended engine replacement with a $13,000 estimate.

29 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/06/2023

Faulty oil cooler. 2 different mechanics reported this as a common problem with 2015 Jeep Wrangler. Due to the way this model was made, the oil cooler is too close to the hot engine making it faulty. As well as the parts around it all have to be replaced. I've been told not to drive the vehicle due to fire hazard. The estimates I've been given are $1400 and up. I've also read many complaints about this same issue, same vehicle, same year, on several different web sites.

30 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2023

Faulty oil filter housing-known to manufacture , causing vehicle to shut down, oil sensors not working, shut down on main hwy, potential fire hazard with oil all over vehicle under carriage and in valley top of motor . This a well known problem that no-one wants to address I'm on my 3rd housing and all oem mopar parts( plastic)at tune 1200+, please investigate make them stop using plastic parts and replace with metal , plastic cracks with heat, flawed design by manufacture , leaving vehicle stuck in traffic high chance of harm to other drivers on road.

31 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/23/2023

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle unexpectedly stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the contact was unsure about the diagnostic result. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

32 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/28/2023

Vehicle engine light flashing while vehicle is on. Vehicle shaking, odometor and other gauges are sporadically flashing and shutting off while driving.

33 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2023

My Jeep has a left cylinder head failure at 78k miles. Jeep forums are full of discussions regarding this issue. The dealer says there is no reason for the failure and that they have seen this before. Jeep says my warranty is expired so I am out of luck. This is my third Jeep and the first time I have had any issue mechanically. This failure is not from normal wear and tear. It's very frustrating that no recall on this obviously faulty engine part exists.

34 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2023

I have experience a complete loss of control of the vehicle on both highways and streets that are bumpy due to dips, potholes, rough conditions due to the road. I received a misfire on cylinder 4 code p0304 and was told my vehicle isn’t covered for any recalls, but see that this is a common issue in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2017 models. I want to know if any recalls or lawsuits are going on because my dealership informed me there aren’t any and it would take a week to even be able to diagnose the issue.
