general problems of the 2015 Jeep Wrangler - part 2

The contact stated that the failure had occurred several times while driving on a busy freeway. The failure also occurred while the vehicle was idling at a red light. After the failure, the vehicle was restarted and operated normally. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable duplicate a failure or determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contacted stated that after retrieving the vehicle the failure persisted. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 113,000.

I had a 2015 2 dr Jeep Wrangler willy's edition. In March 2023, after sitting cold in the driveway for 10+ hours, it spontaneously combusted. It was very obviously an electrical fire based on the smell alone. It appeared that the most damage was in the area of the battery and fuse box. Vehicle was completely totaled and I found many reports online of similar issues, including many Wranglers that were completely totaled after the fire. There is no official acknowledgement of this recurring issue. The fire caught so fast, if I had not been parked in the driveway faced away from the house, I might not have a home either. Insurance did not do an investigation into the cause of the fire.

My truck was making a loud clicking noise and kind or rattle. I took the vehicle in to be serviced. I was told that I needed to have all lifters, rockers and cams replaced. That these items being worn out is a known issue with Jeep Wranglers but there has not been a recall for this issue. The dealership replaced those items the camshaft exhaust, camshaft intake, arm valve, tappet valve lash, gasket cylinder and gasket intake. As stated by the dealership having to replace the lifters, rockers and cams is a known issue. Most people just trade the truck in. I would like to know if this is a known issue why has there not been a recall for this? also because of the cams this caused the cylinder misfire in the engine.

The contact was able to continue driving; however, the failure reoccurred while driving. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. I have had the oil filter housing crack two times costing over 1 grand each time to have replaced by a shop. The lifters and rockers have gone out on each side of engine now with not even 91k miles on vehicle. Drivers side had 62,000 miles and then the passenger side had 91,000 miles on it. Maintenance has been done on time and not over due.

There’s a ticking sound coming from my engine and it’s misfiring in cylinder 5 and the check engine light is on. My concern is it’s the rocker arm.

Our temperature gauge says it’s overheating but it’s not overheating. We’ve had the radiator replaced twice. We’ve had it at three different places to take a look at it, we had the dealership look at it and says they can’t find anything. But it keeps losing coolant. This has been going on for the last 6 to 9 months can’t drive the car more than a few miles.

Check engine light came on. Took Jeep to dealership - indicated that the left side cylinder head needed replaced, not placing would cause extensive damage. The vehicle had 65779 miles on it and is in excellent condition, there was no reason for the engine to have such significant problems based on usage. Learned this is a faulty issue and that Jeep is aware of it, although no additional warranty or recall was provided. I was paid over $3,392 to get the issue diagnosed and repaired.

I have owned my Jeep since 2015 and bought it brand new from the dealership. I have replaced the thermostat three times already. Yesterday, 1-21-22, I was driving home on the interstate. The thermostat stuck again, would not open, and caused it to start dumping coolant out of it while driving. That caused the belt to slip and causing me to almost get into an accident trying to pull over. This Jeep has had several issues with overheating in the almost seven years I’ve had it.

2015 Jeep Wrangler with 3. 6l pentastar engine having repeated engine failures associated with the use of possibly defective repair parts / defective cylinder head repairs / recurring cylinder 6 misfire alerts. .

I have 2015 Jeep Wrangler unlimited rubicon 1000,15 miles on and it has the ticking noise. I took it to my independent mechanic shop. The independent mechanic diagnosed the issue and said that the tick is coming from the passenger side of the engine . I chatted with fca to see if they can provide any assistance on this issue they denied even if the vehicle its out of warranty therefore is has to be cover out of my pocket cost.

My 2015 Jeep Wrangler with 80,200 developed the well know pentastar tick. The Jeep would misfire at idle when slowing to a stop light. The check engine light came on and the code was a p0304. I'm the original owner and took it to the dealer I purchased it from. They diagnosed the issue and called me stating that he Jeep needs new rockers and a cam shaft on the drivers side engine bank. Fca has known about this issue since 2012. I called fca to see if they would provide any assistance to repair the Jeep. Fca refused to acknowledge that this issue exists and refuses any assistance for owners even slightly out of warranty even though it is a manufacturing defect.

My vehicle has been suddenly shutting off while I am driving. There is no warning that anything is wrong with the vehicle. The first time it happened was October 2021. When it has these failures they happen multiple times. The next day the car operates normally. There are no consistencies when this happens - it has shut off when I am driving 20mph and 60mph. There are no error messages that come up on the vehicle. I took it to chuck patterson and they were unable to retrieve an error code and refused to diagnose intermittent issues. They did not find any visible issues with the vehicle. I have an open case with stellantis but they have not done anything. This issue has happened when I am driving my 2 year old nephew and is life threatening. Stellantis has not sent out anyone to inspect my vehicle. I bought the vehicle brand new special order and it has 104,000. I have not had any issues until now.

Check engine light on, obd codes p0016, p0390, p0394. Replaced camshaft and crankshaft sensors and problem still persists; limp mode up hills, and oil loss. Per multiple Jeep Wrangler forums, this is a very wide-spread Jeep phenomenon. Dealers do not know how to fix this. Jeep needs to own up to this defect.

The contact stated that while attempting to run the starter, the vehicle made a clunking sound and it was confirmed that the engine also failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 13v234000 (steering, power train) as a possible solution to the failure however, the VIN nor the model year was included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the model year was not included. The contact was referred to the NHTSA for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 140,823.

I have a 2015 Jeep Wrangler with the fiat Chrysler's 3. 6 liter v- 6 pentastar engine. The Jeep has only 44,465 miles on it and now has apparent design and manufacturing defects on the engine's left side , its the pentastar tick. The tick tick tick is very loud and the engine will shudder, its only a matter of time before the engine shuts off on the highway when I am driving causing an accident. My dealer hollywood Chrysler Jeep estimated repairs - need left side cams and full set of rockers - oil filter housing is leaking replace - replace abs sensor - coolant flush - carbon fuel cleaning -fluids service total $6,000. 07 invoice # 584685. It looks like the cylinder head, gasket, cams, lifters and rockers need to be replaced. Chrysler needs to disclose these defects. Yes my Jeep is available for inspection.

Oil filter housing leaking oil,build up of oil sludge on top of intake manifold,if build up persists it may cause vehicle to catch fire.

Open engine block, lifter, spring, many small pieces.

Arm rockers in the injun constantly have to be replaced. Giving the injun a knocking song.

While driving the Jeep shuts off. It is hard to steer and happens without warning. This has happened about 10 times in the last month. It does not throw a code so the dealer can not fix it.

The contact discovered technical service bulletin: 09-002-14; however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.

I I will be driving and the car will go out of gear and looses power. I have to stop , turn it off and start again for it to work. This has happened 5 times in the last year.

Air cooler filter (adapter) - leak. Common defect in all Wrangler vehicles. Danger to engine damage.

My Jeep caught fire from the dash, reasons unknown. Insurance is investigating and fire dept put cause as unknown. Jeep is a total loss and my husband barely made it out of the vehicle before it was engulfed in flames. He was driving from school to home and about a mile from home on the highway about to exit.

Tl the contact owned a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. While driving 25 mph, all the instrument panel gauges illuminated and the brake pedal felt soft. The vehicle slowed down and the contact smelled smoke. The vehicle caught fire on the driver's side of the engine compartment. The contact pulled the vehicle over, opened the door, and the fire spread. The contact had to quickly exit the vehicle. A police report was filed and the fire department extinguished the fire. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard and deemed destroyed by the contact's insurance company. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The cause of the failures was unknown. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 59,000.

Saturday morning at approximately 10:45 a. M. Driving 4. 9 miles to destination I asked as we were approaching parking "do you smell smoke?" I hit the breaks but there was no breaks. And then a combustion of flames came from wheel wells and hood of Jeep. We all jumped out and called 911 and tried to put fire of Jeep out with extinguishers. With no success. Fire department put fire out.

2015 Jeep Wrangler 66,000 mi on it rocker arms are rattling need to be replaced it's a problem at all 2015 what I understand.

While checking my fluid levels, I noticed oil in the vicinity of my oil filter and in the valley. With little search, it was apparent, I had a poorly designed oil filter/cooler adapter. Took it to the dealership and again, to my surprise, they did not honor the manufactures warranty but of course charged me 160 bucks to tell me what I originally told them. I then asked if they had the part available, guess what they said?? of course, they don't have any due to national backorder. Mind you, my Jeep has only been dealership touched and at 35000 miles, this should not be an issue. I am forced to drive my other vehicle due to fear of my engine bay igniting, as you and I both know it has sadly happened to many others.

While driving down our Jeep Wrangler down the highway my husband stopped at a red light and said he heard something hissing then he saw flames coming from under the hood. At that point the Jeep would not steer or anything so he shut it off and my husband and son got out of the Jeep. Moments later the entire front end of the keep was engulfed in flames.

I was driving on the 91 freeway eastbound in California. Somebody wave me to stop. The car got on fire while driving. As soon as we got out we saw the flames, it got on fire so bad that only the fire department was able to extinguish it. Some truck drivers tried to extinguish but they couldn't. It only had 24000 miles on it because I only use it on the weekends. I took really good care of it. Needless to say it was the scariest and saddest moment of my life. I'm still wondering what happened.

2015 Wrangler sahara engine fire I have just purchased 10 days ago a certified 2015 Wrangler sahara certified pre owned from avondale Dodge in phoenix az. It was a gorgeous hardtop grey, with 30" tires, mags and an led light bar. I had been looking for 3 months and finally found my dream Wrangler. Still with a temp plate and one tank of gas in it the engine caught fire sitting idle at my work. I had literally drove from the dealer how it happened. I had gone for lunch with CO workers and parked in covered parking at my office in phoenix. There was no foul smells and the vehicles performance was normal. I was notified by the facilities managers 2 hours later while in a meeting that fellow employees saw it smoldering through the grill and phoned the fire department. When I got outside the engine compartment was completely charred.

The vehicle caught fire in the engine compartment and was totally destroyed. It was parked in a parking lot and had not been driven for over 24 hours. It had approximately 2500 miles on the odometer. The vehicle had not been modified from factory condition. This vehicle is leased.
