general problems of the 2020 Jeep Wrangler - part 1

The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the instrument panel was inoperable. The speedometer operated as needed, but the fuel gauge and temperature gauge were inoperable, and the mileage display was not visible. However, after contacting the dealer, it was discovered that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 77,000.

On July 1,2026 , my 2020 Jeep Wrangler jl sport died in the middle of traffic causing a safety issue. I was not able to start my Jeep and move out of traffic. I was able to disable the transmission and roll out of the road. But it was very dangerous while cars were passing me and coming towards me. Also before I was able to disable to roll my steering column was locked. The cause of this safety issue is the set up of the batteries. A Jeep has 2 batteries a main and underneath an auxillary battery. Without any kind of warning your battery can die caused by the drain of the auxillary battery on the main battery causing the main battery to just stop working without notice. This is the 2nd time this happened. I had to call a tow truck both times. 1st time 4/14/24, then on 07/02/2026 I had it towed to the same dealership as the time before. This is an on going issue with Jeeps that have the 2 batteries. Not only is it unsafe but a costly issue.

While driving, the instrument cluster display completely blanked out and ceased functioning. This sudden failure immediately disabled the digital speedometer, fuel gauge, engine temperature readings, oil gauge, and critical safety warning lights. In order to check my fuel levels, I have to log into an app on my phone, which is both unsafe and illegal to do while driving. The panel beeps a warning when I start my car, however I cannot see what the issue is because the display is black. Other 2020 Jeep Wranglers share this identical, well-documented cluster failure and are covered under an active recall. However, my specific VIN is currently excluded despite suffering from the exact same manufacturing defect. This issue presents an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety and requires immediate investigation to expand the recall scope.

The screen between the speedometer and tachometer has blanked out completely no fuel gauge no odometer nothing.

Instrument cluster went out a month ago on daughter’s Jeep. Part has been backordered for a month & now pushed out again by a week. Daughter was driving this am to school and the Jeep quick on her on a busy rd and put her at risk to wreck or get hit.

On 4/28/26, my 2020 Jeep Wrangler sahara unlimited suffered a catastrophic high-voltage system failure, causing the vehicle to completely shut off at highway speeds on a live road. Stuck on the highway for nearly 3 hours at around rush hour blocking one lane of traffic. The dealership (ourisman Jeep) diagnosed a failed 48v hybrid power pack unit (part #68381513aa) under star order #9575**. This sudden loss of power on the highway is a severe safety defect, and the manufacturer is refusing to cover the $3,327. 94 repair or the resulting 3-week rental vehicle loss of use. ".

Had no warning messages or alerts. The instrument cluster display screen went black. We have no way of knowing the amount of gas, speed, mileage, tire pressure or any other alerts. I believe this to be a safety issue. Have replaced both the main and auxiliary battery. There are many 2020 Jeep Wranglers that are recalled for this very issue. Wondering why mine is not.

Instrument cluster digital screen went blank. Came on next time vehicle was started and then went blank again and didn’t come back on, no longer displaying warnings, fuel level, etc.

The cam bus connector also known as the green star box behind the glove box was defective. I would drive 32-35 miles and my dashboard would light up with 17 codes, abs, 4wd, steering, anti skid, my speed would disappear as well as my mph into three dashes, my check engine light would eliminate as well as service 4wd, pull over to a safe location vechile disabled as the entire Jeep slammed itself into park. I can’t imagine what would have happened to me if I didn’t get this resolved and I was going to work driving on the highway doing 55 and this happened and the vehicle slammed itself into park. I would not be here today to tell my story and potentially save other lives as I’m sure this is a known recall and or should be! I called Jeep and was notified that this is a known recall but my VIN was listed for the recall. So here I am in hopes to get this resolved for all Jeeps out there to get this addressed. I would also like to be reimbursed for the parts and labor getting this fixed. I have the video footage of this happening as well and a pic of the cam bus fuse connector showing the burnt electrical components. This will not let me upload a video only photos. . I have owned my 2020 Jeep Wrangler since it was brand new. The middle instrument cluster panel (where it shows miles, fuel gauge, etc) quit working. I have checked fuses, disconnected the battery overnight, and disconnected the auxiliary battery and the instrument cluster is still not working. There is an established recall (30b) for 2018-2024 Jeep Wranglers for the instrument cluster failing but it doesn't appear my VIN is included. Checking Jeep forums, it appears to be a common issue, but an expensive one to fix.

My daughter was driving the 2020 Jeep Wrangler we bought her & the instructor cluster panel went blank. We have had the vehicle less than 1yr & it has only 38,000 miles on it. The instrument panel has suddenly stopped working. Speedometer, odometer, fuel, nothing displays. There is an active recall for this very issue 24v652000. However, my VIN is reportedly not included and the dealership says its not covered.

My safety is at risk as I can not see how much gas I have, mileage, oil pressure or any other warnings that are used by the display. Prior to going completely blank intermittently it would show a greenish color. Other Jeep Wranglers have had this problem, but my VIN was not part of the recall.

Wife’s 2020 Jeep Wrangler’s ipc above the steering wheel went blank. No speed, no fuel gauge, no odometer or warning lights, no turn signal indicators. Chrysler safety recall (30b) (NHTSA campaign number: 24v652000) states there is a problem with these including our year Wrangler, 2020. Dealer said we are out of luck because when they type in our VIN number into their database, no safety recalls are listed. This problem is all over the internet 2018-2024 Wrangler (jl) models. What gives???? don’t even know how much gas we have! 6 year old car should not have the ipc shut off! if that’s not a safety concern, don’t know what is????.

I am the original owner of a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. My instrument cluster has completely failed. I know that there is an active recall for this exact issue (30b) but my VIN number is not included. This is clearly a safety defect as my cluster is non-functional, I do not have a speedometer or warning indicators. I have no idea how much or how little gas I have, if my tire pressure is low…I am the original owner, as stated ,and this is not normal wear. I am also aware that there is an open investigation into this recall and I believe my Jeep should be included in the recall. Prior to the cluster going out, there was not any warning. I started the Jeep and it was working and as I was driving it went off. It never came back on. We checked connections and fuses, it’s not that. My husband has addressed it with two separate dealerships and was told there was nothing they could do and offered no suggestions. I went today and spoke with a new dealership and they put me in contact with Jeep customer care. I have begun the process but will most likely still be paying out of pocket with money, I frankly do not have. This is a safety issue and should be taken care of by Jeep, and is being covered for some by the recall.

My speedometer/odometer screen went completely black. I have no idea how fast I’m going or how much gas I have. This is a know and very dangerous issue.

Shortly after leaving my house I glanced at the digital readout for my speed and noticed that the instrument cluster was blank. I pulled over, stopped my Jeep, then restarted it to see if that would correct it, which it did not. I took it to a reputable auto/electrical garage who at first noticed a master fuse block blown and replaced the fuse block. That didn't correct the instrument cluster however but they did find a recall 30b for 2020 Jeep Wrangler. I called stellantis (1 800 334 9200) today, Feb 16th . I was told by 3 different people in 3 different departments that even though there is a safety recall on 2020 Jeeps my VIN# isn't included. I asked why not and was told that it depended where the Jeep was made. They also told me that the repair will be at my expense. This doesn't seem fair to me because the recall is a safety issue to replace the instrument panel cluster free of charge. Just because my Jeep VIN# wasn't included doesn't mean it wasn't going to fail like the others that were included!! I have no readouts on my dashboard and am sure it won't even pass inspection now because of that, let alone serious safety concerns without warning lights. The instrument panel, recently went dark on us while driving. We had seen previous recalls on this issue, but never received anything. Are we covered under this recall?.

The ipc intermittently goes blank and I lose driver information like remaining fuel and speed limit and other safety information. The ipc also turns green and gets distortion.

My instrument cluster has failed. I can't see any vehicle information. No gas or oil gauges. No information what so ever. I can't see my speed or if may my be overheating. This is basic safety issues I should be able to see. There has been a recall for 2020 Jeep Wrangler's so other people have has the same issue. I can't drive without the basic safety instruments working. I don't even know how many miles are on my Jeep.

The 3. 5" screen on my Jeep went out. Which prevented me from seeing speed, mileage and gas. They have recalled other Jeeps from 2018-2024 but mine is not included because it has been in service for more then 24 months. We bought the Jeep in 2023 with 20 some thousand miles on it. Why is there a time limit on a faulty part? not everyone drives their cars 30,000+ a year, so problems with parts won't be known as early as 2 years. We replaced it and it cost $1600 plus a week of not having my car.

The instrument cluster has completely failed presenting a dangerous situation for driving. There are no warning lights, no speed indicator, no signal indicator, etc, etc. A simple google search will show that this is a very widespread and well known issue with this vehicle, and a safety recall notice should be issued and the replacement should be covered by the manufacturer. The vehicle was inspected by the dealership and they confirmed it is the instrument cluster.

My digital dashboard display is, shorting out. Started acting up on December 25th, 2025.

The vehicle was running fine and then the cluster went out. It came back for a couple hours and now it’s been out for a couple weeks. It still lights up but does not show any writing. I know this is part of a recall but like the last time something happened to my Jeep with the gas( huge safety violation) that costed $1400 to fix- Jeep obviously doesn’t care about safety. Steering wheel electrical failure. Melted wiring inside steering wheel. Potential airbag and steering safety failure. Serious safety defect. Fire risk! while getting ready to leave a retail parking lot with heated steering wheel on, we became overwhelmed with fumes. Noticed the steering wheel was hot. Immediately shut off the car and opened the doors. When the fumes subsided, started the car and made sure the heated steering wheel was off. It no longer worked at all, when car was re-started. This could have been life threatening had we been traveling on the highway and not in a parking lot. Took vehicle to our dealer- central Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge for repair. Dealer service advisor unable to diagnose exact cause due to extent of damage. Also commented shock that we didn’t experience a fire that could have caused the airbag to explode as well. Service advisor stated steering wheel heating element short and steering wheel wiring to clock spring melted due to excessive heat in circuit. I requested photos. I received one photo. I do not believe there were further inspections. Repairs were completed at my expense. Both dealership and stellantis refuse to cover the cost of repairs citing I had no warranty coverage. I believe this goes beyond normal wear and tear. I did smell something mild, like sugar burning earlier in our errands yet it dissipated quickly and I assumed it was outside, in the air. It wasn’t until the overwhelm of fumes upon starting the car in a retail parking lot that we became aware there was a serious problem and immediately turned the car off.
