Unsure of the part or system that failed, however the auxiliary battery and power distribution system part was replaced previously and did not correct the problem. My safety was at risk when the speed and steering were affected. An independent service center worked on it and reproduced it. The car electronic system went through every warning light system while driving. "stop/start not ready", "engine light", "airbag light", "service electronic stability control", serv 4wd, abs, brake, "service airbag system", tire pressure monitoring, seatbelt light, "speed control messaging unavailable service required", and gas light all came on while driving. Speed was reduced and steering wheel locked up and released several times during the event.
I was driving 70-75 mph on interstate xxx going south from [xxx] to [xxx] after picking up my friends. I had e-save mode on to save the battery for later and out of nowhere the car lost all power and would not accelerate. Some writing flashed across the screen telling me to pull over in the emergency lane and stop and then restart the Jeep in hybrid mode. I had to throw on my hazards and pray someone who wasn't paying attention didn't hit me while I was no longer accelerating and trying to change lanes to get into the emergency lane. One in the emergency lane I was able to shut off the Jeep and restart it but e-save mode was no longer available. I was able to resume driving but only in hybrid mode. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Shortly after my second time getting the battery looked at for the 4xe recall my vehicle was very sluggish from a stopped position with the pedal fully pressed. After 5-10 seconds the vehicle lunges forward aggressively as it goes from electric to gas mode.
I was pulling into a parking spot outside of a costco and suddenly the car began to accelerate uncontrollably, and I couldn't stop the car. It ended up hitting the car in front of me, pushing it out of the spot and then hit the car next to us. Fortunately, there was no one in any of the cars hit but the entire experience was completely terrifying, and someone could have been seriously injured. The police were called and there was a police report filed. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer or insurance company since it just occurred yesterday and the police said that the report wouldn't be ready for 3-5 business days. We also contacted the dealership where we purchased the vehicle, and they advised us to contact Jeep's customer service.
I was traveling at 80mph on an interstate in the fast lane. There were only two lanes. Road was straight with a slight incline. Temperature was 98 degrees. I had been traveling for 10 hours that day. I hear the same bing chime the Jeep makes when it switches from electric to hybrid mode. I was already in hybrid mode and I experienced a lost of power. My vehicle started to coast which it never does because the regenerative breaks always slow me down. I noticed a message on my display but I could not read it as I used the momentum I had to reach the shoulder of the slow lane and coast to a stop. I put the car in park. The message was gone. A few seconds after putting the vehicle in park, it restarted and behaved normally again. This happened one day after being serviced at the dealer. I have all recalls completed including one that covers this issue. I took the Jeep in to be checked and they were unable to read codes or detect any issues.
While braking (in hybrid mode, with max regen braking on), the car begins to lurch forward with significant force as it comes to a stop. This seems to be an issue with max regen, as acceleration and braking is overall much smoother with the feature off. This has happened sometimes before, but is difficult to replicate on demand. No warning lights on dash, and has not been confirmed by a dealer. There were no warning lights or messages, and has happened since purchase of the vehicle in June 2022. This instance was so severe that the vehicle almost crashed into the house, as I was pulling into the driveway and braking. Upon researching online, others have reported this issue, with some involved in motor vehicle crashes because of it. Clearly a safety issue that requires attention.
Dec 23 took mine in for recall service. Had no issues prior to having this done. Pick up the same day. Was told passed the drive test. Drove to work Dec 24th (26 miles round trip) no issues. Did not drive on christmas. Placed it to charge that night, for drive to work the 26th. Noticed it did not charge completely. On the way in to work service light came on. Time to leave work, it would not start. Dash had the service charging station. Waited a few minutes. Then it did finally start. Tried to place it in esave. It would not go. Regeneration went off. It drove horrible. Slow acceleration, especially from a complete stop. Got it home and had it towed to a different dealership that had performed the update. Was told a module is bad and they are keeping it until the 30th to check for other issues. They said as a precaution to ensure I was safe on the road. Terrifying experience.
The vehicle tends to lurch/jerk forward during various driving scenarios. The most frightening is when you are approaching a stop light/sign, and there is a car in front of you when this happens. I have had several experiences of almost hitting the vehicle at the light/stop sign.
Brakes stopped functioning. Jeep started accelerating. Very unsafe speeds approaching a school zone. Eventually brakes reengaged and then engine shut down.
My instrument control panel went completely black without any prior glitches. I couldn't see my speed, cruise control lights, engine temp, gas gauge. . . Nothing on my panel displayed.
I was slowly pulling into a parking spot and slowly removed my foot from the break with the Jeep catapulted forward nearly hitting the car parked alongside. Had to hit the brakes so hard, tires screeched. It happened again several more times while slowing down or stopped at intersections. Have had to hit the brakes with both feet almost standing on brake. No warning or notifications. It feels almost as if accelerator has more power than brake.
I was going approximately 60 mph on mn highway 100 s in the far right lane, driving with a half full tank of gas and <1% battery in “hybrid” mode, when suddenly and error message saying “service charging system” error appeared in red on the driver console and all engine acceleration stopped working. The vehicle then displayed a message to shift to p to start the engine. But it wouldn’t let me shift to p while going 50+ mph. I managed to coast to a relatively safe area on the shoulder of the highway with minimal disruption of traffic, bring the car to a full stop, and restart the engine. However if I had been in the far left lane of the highway instead of the far right, or in a section without a safe shoulder, this event could have been the start of a major accident, endangering myself and many others. The spontaneous total loss of driving power in the 4xe is an inexcusable public safety risk. I know there has been a previous recall for a different issue that also produced this effect. This issue must also be fixed.
I was driving on the highway and my Jeep shook for a moment and then the d started blinking and there were 2 lights that came on. One was the battery light and the other one was the charging light. There was also an on screen message about a charging problem and to pull over safely. I was on the highway and this was very dangerous as the car was slowing down with cars behind me. I managed to pull over on the side of the highway and stopped my car safely . I turned off my car restarted it. I then got off the highway and made it home safely via the back roads. I made an appointment with the dealership but this was very unsafe and almost caused an accident. Please investigate as as I have seen many other reports of this online. Thanks.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while operating the vehicle and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated while accelerating and failed to immediately respond as needed. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but had occurred while making a turn within a busy intersection and while merging into freeway traffic. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure or determine the cause of the failure. In addition, the contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the transmission shifter would not shift from park(p) and the vehicle could not be driven. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who replaced the 12-volt battery, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not yet contacted regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 7,000.
This is the 5th complaint I have called into Jeep directly as well as 2 different dealerships. My car is shutting down randomly on the highway. I was notified that it was "fixed" with a software update. This is a current recall that the dealership has said was "fixed". However they refuse to call a star tech or a field tech which Jeep service said was required at this point. I have tried to have this issue fixed multiple times with no positive outcome. Today again my entire Jeep shut down on the highway as I was getting on. I merely tapped the break to allow anther drive to merge and the entire car completely stopped. I personally hit the steering wheel and my dog almost hit the windshield if the bar was not there he would have. The are aware of the severity of the issue and don't believe anything is wrong. I am contacting an attorney for lemon law at this point as the vehicle is clearly dysfunctional.
I was driving a longer distance from las vegas nevada to California victor ville and was coming down in speed and vehicle claimed a sudden stop in power and turned off. After a min of attempting to pull into a close parking lot the Jeep 4xe alarms were going on and off uncontrollably with zero power or capability to shutting off. After a few times of attempting to turn the Jeep on and off and no success I got out of my vehicle, disconnected the battery and reconnected it. We were on the freeway with our infant in the back seat and on a thanksgiving trip back home. We just thought it was random until a recall lawyer reached out about our post on it and mentioned this is a lethal and serious issue. At this moment, we are not driving it as we seen a news channel mention this issue. I say this with the tone of seeking a new solution that is not in this death trap… we as a family would like to find a way to get a refund and away from this completely. We do not feel safe, we just bought this vehicle a month ago.
Driving with no foot on gas and the Jeep suddently lurched forward. Unintended acceleration is what it was. The first time this happened was in October 2022 and I was in a basement parking garaged and ended up in the wall with the air bags deploying. It took 5 months for the Jeep to be repaired. It happened again this morning, October 3, 2023 while going to the gym at 5 am. There were no vehicles on the road and hence I was able to manage.
Less than a 6 months of having this brand new Jeep, the initial failure of transmission happened while driving down highway. Jeep smelled like it was on fire and I lost all acceleration. Th transmission literally fell into debris. I coasted off the highway and was able to make it into a parking lot, thankfully. Jeep was towed and repair of trans and flywheel took about 4-6 weeks. Around 6k later, trans went out again. I knew bc the transmission began slipping and the burning smell was back. As of, 10/16/23, my Jeep is in again for a new transmission. It began slipping again and the brining smell was back. I’m being told the parts may take time due to the uaw strike. I’m again without a vehicle. 3 times with a brand new Jeep.
I was driving on the highway at speeds of 75 mph and the car suddenly stopped entirely and began decelerating at a very quick speed to almost 30 mph in just a few seconds. Luckily, nobody was behind me, otherwise the speed at which it was slowing down would have caused a collision. The car would not accelerate in the time that it was decelerating and the gas pedal stopped working entirely. There were no warning signs or messages that appeared, and the car said that electric mode was unavailable at this time then began to decelerate. I allowed the car to come to a complete stop and then restarted it with no issue until the exact situation happened again, at highway speeds, for a second time after only around 300 miles since the first incident. Then I realized there was a problem with the car and it was not a one off incident.
Driving 25 to 30mph, car completely died and the d on the gear shift started blinking. Unable to get to side of road due to traffic. My husband and I were at risk of being rear ended as the car died without any warning. There was also a large clunk sound when it died.
