1 Headlights problem of the 2019 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/01/2023

While driving the Wrangler the dash will freeze go black and reset itself without waring. You could be parked or driving and it will happen. According to your website it not involved in the recall for the dash yet it is doing exactly what the recall is stating in the bullentin. It's quite nerveracking and dangerous when it happens while driving on the highway. It's been happening for months now and we are told it's not part of the recall. The headlight also randomly go out and you have to shut them off and turn them back on to reset them. That happens randomly at all hours of the day and night.

2 Headlights problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/09/2021

Headlights stop working while driving because Jeep knows about a tipm issue but will not fix it. Tipm issue. This issue is common and described across the web but is a safety hazard! the headlights will flash 3-5 times then completely shut off. Restarting the Jeep and disconnecting the battery does not help. Jeep dealer says circuit in the tipm is the issue and that this is common! lordy have mercy for all the vecs on the road when my headlights started flashing at them and then went out on, of course, an unlit section of the road. But the crazier part is Jeep knew this could happen and doesn't warn the customers. I sure did not know that I might be driving blind at night becoming a safety hazard. The lights then decide to not work for a few days before going back to being reliable for anywhere from weeks to months until you happen to drive at night again and bam they go out again. Luckily the runner/ fog lights are unaffected but as a primary vehicle I can not just keep taking ubers every time it is dark outside! this is such a serious safety issue to loose your lights while driving! there are two common fixes for this. One you buy the tipm or two you buy non stock headlights and reroute them to your own switch but for most of us, buying a part that Jeep knows will break is crazy and not practical (plus we the consumer didn't know it would) and the alternative of having to buy a different company's lights to buy pass the wiring in just crazy. It is such a serious issue I do not understand why there is no recall! I'm also so unsure if I can even pass a safety inspection anymore. Also the automatic fuel stopper does not work which is another know glitch with the tipm. This is okay if you know about it because you can hold the handle the whole time while filling up but you can not trust it alone. It isn't like it is all the time either. Just enough to keep you on your toes and plosion the ground with spillage. The first time is scary though.

3 Headlights problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/21/2020

Vehicle components begin malfunctioning, wipers turn on, wiper washer pump floods windshield, lights flash, headlights randomly turn off while vehicle is in motion, horn sounds, cannot turn vehicle off. Turn key to off position and vehicle continues to run creating an extremely dangerous situation. Wipers and washers blind driver randomly. Online research all points to known issue with totally integrated power module that has well documented failure rate. This is a horribly dangerous situation that deserves investigation and remediation.

5 Headlights problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/09/2020

Passenger side headlight failure. Repairs made to wiring, and replacement headlight installed. Lamp still only works intermittently. Affecting low light visibility. 6 Headlights problem of the 2015 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/02/2019

Stability control goes out at 70+ mph over any deviation in the road surface and not just a major bump. I lose control of the Jeep completely and have to take my foot of the gas and then it will right itself. This is a threat to life and safety and for a four year vehicle should not be happening. Also, all the electrical components went out and the fuel gauge goes down and up randomly, the stability control lights come on and off which terrify me and I am shaken to the core as I don't want to lose control of the vehicle as I have for the past weeks at 3 or 4 times a week on average! the speedometer goes down to 5 mph then back up to 66mph then back down and my headlight lamps flickered on and off all at the same time. All fuses are intact and secure. Then the Jeep would start and I checked the fuses and made sure they were secure and it started again. I need help and am fearful for my life using this Jeep and have only had it a year. This should not be happening to a 4 yo vehicle. Please assist me. Thank you for your time.

8 Headlights problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/24/2019

In snowy conditions led headlights quickly become snow covered causing near complete loss of visibility. Vehicle must be stopped and headlights manually cleared before proceeding. The snow on the headlights causes a white-out type condition where even the immediate side of the road is not visible. Fortunately we were driving on a low traffic road at the time. Highway situations would be deadly. This vehicle is not safe to drive in dark, snowy conditions, which occur frequently in maine. This issue was reported to Chrysler-Jeep in January and they have not provided any resolution.

9 Headlights problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/21/2019

Yesterday, I drove a rented 2018 Jeep Wrangler unlimited to the salt lake city, utah airport during a moderate snowfall prior to sunrise. While on that approximately 40 mile trip, I had my headlights "on" to illuminate the roadway as it was still dark and there was minimal roadway lighting. While driving I found it increasing difficult to see the road surface and especially see the lines on the road. I had my family in the car and the situation became quite dangerous with a suddenness that I was unprepared for. Once I was able to stop safely I discovered that the Jeep headlights were fully covered by snow and not allowing light to pass through to the road surface. I wiped the snow away and got back on the road--within 10 minutes or so the headlights were again covered by snow which accumulated on the surface on the lens. This created another dangerous situation. Apparently the led lights are not warm enough to melt the accumulating snow and the surrounding bezel area retains snow as well. While I am not an automotive engineer, I think there's a design flaw with the combination of the geometry of the Jeep headlights and cooler led lighting. Importantly, this accumulation happened a second time after the car was fully warmed up. I have driven many cars over the years in poor conditions and never experienced this phenomenon before. I personally feel that this created a lot of risk and danger for me and my family while driving the Jeep Wrangler. I feel very fortunate that we did not have an accident and experience a more serious outcome. I enclose a picture of the headlights which was taken after they had been cleared once already and then re-accumulated snow thereafter.

10 Headlights problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/01/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the led headlights provided limited visibility when it snowed. The vehicle was taken to rothrock Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (610-439-8485, located at 1608 plaza ln, allentown, PA 18104) where the contact was informed that there was no recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000. The VIN was unknown.

11 Headlights problem of the 2017 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 11/29/2018

Oem led headlights are useless whil driving at night during a snow storm. If I had not had additional halogen lights I could not have gone anywhere safely. In the attached photos the headlights are on high-beam and had been during my 10 mile drive home from work.

12 Headlights problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 11/15/2018

The combination of the shape of the headlight cup, combined with the led headlight option, causes snow to accumulate and completely block out any light produced from the headlights on the road. This will occur, whenever there is significant snow, and the vehicle is in motion or resting.

13 Headlights problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/03/2018

Exterior lights stopped working which includes headlights and directionals. I was driving and when I went to turn on my lights due to darkness they did not turn on. Tipm (fusebox) needs to be replaced according to mechanic. Told this is a common problem with this vehicle and will cost between $1100. 00 to $1200. 00 to replace.

14 Headlights problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/23/2018

Jeep tipm failure numerous times. Headlights stop working completely, airbags reportedly non working, winshield wipers work when they want to, horn blows on its own. Door locks cycle on their own. Engine wont shut off with the key unless unhooking the battery.

15 Headlights problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

My car started acting up. Neighbors would come regularly ring my house bell to let me know that the Jeep's headlights were on. The Jeep was parked in the street. The problem: it wouldn't stay locked. It would automatically lock and unlock whenever. We only have street parking at home and it was very stressful to leave the car open at night in the street or even when going places. Also the windshield wipers started getting stuck in the middle of the windshield or sometimes stopped working completely. This was very dangerous especially when it happened at high speeds on the highway! finally, the right blinker wouldn't work and that problem seemed to be related to the broken locking/unlocking system. After going back and forth to two different mechanics 5 times (each time they said it was fixed but it wasn't), after replacing the tipm and all the wiper motor parts and reprogramming everything properly, it is now a functional car again! it was a big bill and on top of that I had to spend money on lyft and was very handicapped without a car!.

16 Headlights problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/19/2017

As the vehicle was travelling at night on a two-lane country road at 35 mph, the electrical power of the vehicle shut off, including headlights, radio, interior power, ventilation, and engine. The duration of the outage was approximately 10 seconds. This power outage occurred just prior to a curve and caused loss of vision and abs braking, causing a skid and narrowly missed colliding with a guardrail. The power then came back on, and all systems appeared to return to normal. There appears to be a power distribution problem that affected the operability of the vehicle, creating a hazardous condition. Battery and alternator check out ok, so a power supply problem is not a root cause of the issue.

17 Headlights problem of the 2017 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/16/2017

I purchased this vehicle new in August of 2017. The vehicle is the Wrangler unlimited (4 door) sahara package. This package includes led headlights. On December 16th I drove the vehicle through falling snow at night. I was on a highway in a remote area traveling with traffic at reduced speeds, approximately 20 mph. After approximately 30 minutes I noticed my visibility diminishing. The windshield was clear of snow. However, objects in front of me were becoming harder to see. I turned the lights on and off to see if it made a difference. It did not. I felt I could safely follow the vehicle in front of me until I could find a safe area to pull over. We were approaching a small city with street lights which made traveling safer. I pulled off an exit to assess the headlight issue. Both headlights were covered in snow. Since the Jeeps lights are recesses a bit, the snow filled the pockets completely. This is the first time driving (since 1984) that I had to clear snow from the headlights while driving. I live in northern new england so snow in the winter is a common event. What I deduced was that the led lights were not generating any heat. This was the likely reason for the snow build up. This flaw is exceptionally dangerous. When I needed the lights to work their best, they failed. Cold weather and darkness are prevalent this time of year. It seems I can anticipate many instances of driving as my lights become less and less useful and there's an increase in the danger associated with driving. I find this completely unacceptable. This situation was foreseeable and preventable. I have since learned that aftermarket heated led lights are available for this vehicle. So, this is a known issue with the Jeep. I feel this vehicle should not have been sold with led headlights that perform as these did. The Jeep is advertised as a winter vehicle.

18 Headlights problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 11/10/2017

While driving headlights, windshield wipers/washer, signals, esp disable button and interior lights stopped functioning. This is the second tipm in this vehicle. The first was replaced after power windows stopped functioning.

19 Headlights problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

Jeep has mind of its own. No start, no headlights, wipers work on their own and spray all fluid. Jeep shuts off driving, then cant shut engine off with key.

20 Headlights problem of the 2009 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/05/2017

Wipers turn on by themselves, sometimes won't work when driving. Radio constantly reprogramming itself. Headlights sometimes come on without turning them on yet occasionally won't work when driving. While driving I've had the radio shut off, trip odometer reset, mileage reset, it's almost like the cpu resets in the middle of driving. Lastly, ive had the entire Jeep stall while stopped at intersections. Most times it takes 2-3 cranks to get it started. Nothing lights up on the dash when I try to start it. These things have happened approximately 30-40 times in the last year. The radio reprogramming itself happens daily.

21 Headlights problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/03/2017

Tipm issues. The headlights will randomly flash 3-5 times equal in length and then shut off completely will not reset even if Jeep is turned off an turned back on. While driving down the road the lights can randomly being to flash an then shut off.

22 Headlights problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/16/2017

Defective totally integrated power module (tipm). I discovered my car has problem with the headlight (which intermittently on and off) when I was about to drive from home at night. The dealership charged me $1757. 57 for repairing by replacing the tipm which has a history of defective on millions of cars made by Chrysler. It's don't make sense!.

23 Headlights problem of the 2017 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/26/2017

This model year Wrangler is fitted with led headlights. On 1/26/17 and 2/7/2017 they have frozen over during misty or foggy weather in minnesota. Both times it happened I was driving at about 6:30am, before the sun came up. The first occasion the temp was 29, next time it was 31. Please see attached photos. When this happens the headlights do not work very well making it very hard to see. I feel this is a danger to me and those around me and should be corrected. I have contacted both a dealer and Jeepcares about the issue and they will do nothing to correct it. High quality aftermarket led headlights are available with or without an automatic heater element to prevent them from icing over. Trucklite is one brand that offers them.

24 Headlights problem of the 2016 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 11/01/2016

Head lights extremely poor lighting and visibility. Can leave high beams on and no one flashes me to change to low beams. I find it very dangerous to drive at night. We live in the mountains which is why we purchased the Jeep in the first place. We have had them checked at dealership and they say nothing is wrong. I feel that Jeep needs to recall headlights and replace with a better light. Thank you for your time.

25 Headlights problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/02/2016

My headlights do work right. Sometmes they come on and sometimes they just turn off and sometimes they don't turn on at all. The jeeo dealer said it was the tipm and apprx. $1,200. 00 to fix. I think Jeep should recall !!!.

26 Headlights problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/14/2016

As soon as I turn the car over, my dash lights, headlights come on. The headlight stalk and the windshield wiper stalk are inoperable. It's a safety hazard to drive my car. And after researching through multiple forums and sites online, it looks like this is a fairly common problem, with a non-standard resolution. Not looking forward to the hours I'm going to have to spend getting this addressed. I was driving 8/14 when I noticed the issues.

27 Headlights problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

First, I was driving on the highway and hit the brakes, when the vehicle locked all the brakes completely, the vehicle started skidding almost causing an accident because I lost control of the vehicle. A few weeks later, I was driving up the hill when all the dash lights lighted up, I stopped the vehicle and turned it off but they did not went off . I went to the dealer and they told to replace the abs module (68067458aa) costing $215. 00 plus $160 on labor. They also told me that a few customers are complaining about the same issue. The vehicle is also turning off the headlights at night. Right know the problem is intermittent. The check engine code is b162f, right low beam control. According to the dealer, the tipm needs to be replaced, it cost around $400. When I looked in the internet, there are several cases of that issue since 2010. It creates a possible hazard driving at night.

28 Headlights problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/12/2016

The contact owns a 2010 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the headlights failed to illuminate. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

29 Headlights problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/01/2016

Codes b162b and b162f. . . Linked to the tipm. While driving the headlights flicker then turn off. No low beams and no high beams. The headlights remain off and will not turn back on. This problem occurs at night and is dangerous to self and others. Numerous customer complaints.

30 Headlights problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/25/2016

The tipm unit went out, causing lots of issues. The issues we¿re aware of are: the doors wouldn't lock, shifter was stuck in park, radio/cd/bluetooth wouldn¿t work, and the front headlights wouldn't turn off leading to a complete drain of the battery. Thankfully, the vehicle was parked and this didn't happen while we were driving it (it could have been very dangerous if it did). It cost us $1100. 00 to replace the tipm unit, which was a huge financial burden on us, but even worse was that we had to go without the Jeep (one of our main means of transportation) for almost two months because there's a waiting list for the replacement part. We checked with 3 different repair shops just to be sure, and all said the same thing: 1. ) that there's a waiting list at least 40 people long for this tipm unit, and 2. ) that they've been seeing Jeep Wranglers left & right for this same exact problem, and there¿s a waiting list because the part can't even be manufactured quickly enough to keep up with the demand. I know the tipm unit has been recalled for Jeep cherokees, but why not Jeep Wrangler when this is clearly a major issue for it as well??.

31 Headlights problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/31/2015

Several problems occurred electronically with my Wrangler in the past 2 months. 1. Headlights turned on when I came out of the store 2. Check engine light came on (4cyl. Misfire) but cleared itself after 100 miles 3. While sitting idle at a red light, the dash warning light lit up and flickered as well as chimed for a minute. 4. While cruising on the interstate about 70mph, the Jeep shut off for a few seconds and turned back on before I was almost rear ended by the vehicle behind me.

32 Headlights problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/27/2015

This morning I opened the unlocked front passenger door and the craziness began - doors locked on their own, horn started blaring, headlights tailights and hazards started flashing, front and back windshield wipers started going, windshield washer fluid started shooting out. I attempted to use the remote to unlock the doors - nothing happened. Used the key to manually unlock the door - against the system trying to relock. Then cranked the engine to try and get everything to stop. It did not stop. I turned off the Jeep then popped the hood and disconnected the negative terminal. All the craziness stopped. I waited @5 minutes and then reconnected the battery. All the craziness started again. So I pulled the negative and the positive from the terminal hoping to reset the system. I have not reconnected the system to try again. I am worried that even if the craziness doesn't start once I reconnect the battery, if I am driving down the road and it begins it may cause me to wreck. I will send a follow-up email. Thanks.

33 Headlights problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/07/2015

The contact owns a 2010 Jeep Wrangler. The contact attempted to illuminate the headlights, but the headlights failed to illuminate. The failure recurred multiple times intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000.

34 Headlights problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/02/2015

The windshield wipers, directional signals, horn, steering wheel radio controls, headlights failed and rear back power window would not go up- this happened while driving in the rain.

35 Headlights problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/06/2015

My Jeep will randomly squirt wiper fluid, lock and unlock doors, honk horn, turn off and on headlights, etc. All things that are controlled by the electronic system. I never know when it will happen and it differs each time, but I am worried that it is beginning to happen more frequently and will happen when I am on a highway - it has the potential to be dangerous. Due to all of the other complaints I have seen about it from Jeep owners of my year and the recall on previous Chrysler's due to the tipm, a recall needs to be issued for these.
