During the evening of October 16, 2019 while driving on interstate highway 84 near the eagle road exit 46 with my 5 year old grandson, my Jeep had a catastrophic electrical failure. I could not get the turn signals, headlights, windshield wipers, or horn to work. Later I learned that at least the drivers air bag was also inoperable. The next morning my local Jeep dealer (larry h miller, boise, id) diagnosed the problem as a failure of the clock spring the service manager called me and said that due to the ongoing recall of certain right hand drive Jeep Wranglers (NHTSA campaign numbers:16v288000, 13v176000, and 11v528000, all involving the clock spring) a new, redesigned, clock spring is not available for non-recalled vehicles. He to install at my epense a new clock spring, but of the old design, which would eventually fail.

My 2010 Jeep Wrangler unlimited has been idling funny for a while. Today my windshield wipers started running without turning them on, the headlight came on high beam without turning them on and my turn signals stopped working. I was just trying to get hime from work. Sometimes the starter sticks & grinds when I try to start it. . Sometimes the cruise control makes the Jeep shake violently like driving on 4 flat tires down the interstate. My husband unhooked the battery today to stop the wipers and it was sparking and the whole fuse control panel was too hot to touch. He done some research and found out it is the tipm and it's been a problem in almost all Jeep Wranglers, and has been recalled in most that had all my Jeeps electrical issues, but has not been recalled in the 2010, even after many customer complaints, glad it didn't catch my Jeep on fire. Now I'm worried about parking in my garage as it is part of my house. So now my Jeep that only has 74000 miles and cost me 35000 dollars is a fire hazard and can't be parked in its cozy 350000 garage because I don't want to lose my home, Jeep and possibly my life. Chrysler really needs to step up and do the right thing after making so much money off of us die hard life long Jeep enthusiasts.

Headlights, turn signals and windshield wipers do not work. All went out at the same time. Fuses checked and are ok. Forums list multiple complaints for this safety issue with the tipm failure. I was driving in a light rain and could not turn in my headlights, turn signals or wipers.

Left front turn signal works intermittently, power windows work intermittently, radio works intermittently. Was told it was the totally integrated power module. This seems to be a very common problem on the Jeep Wrangler.

Windshield wipers and headlights stuck on despite controls set to off position. No turn signals or high beams either. Had to pull the windshield wiper fuse to be able to drive vehicle home. Tried to disconnect the battery and step on the brake, then leave it disconnected for 20 minutes, but this did not resolve the issue. Vehicle is new, only a couple of weeks of ownership. Completely stock, no modifications.

Vehicle stalls at random times but most often when putting into reverse after sitting for a while. It has stalled while driving on major roads which could have been life threatening. The transmission also shifts very jerky at times for no real reason. The windshield wipers will come on randomly and usually seem tied to turn on the turn signals which happen to be on the other control knob. Lights will dim on nav/radio when windshield wipers are turned on. I would say there is an obvious electrical/computer issue that must be causing these things to happen. I have read hundreds of similar complaints.

A small storm manifested while driving the vehicle with the top down. The vehicle was pulled off the road to put on the soft top. At that time I realized that I no longer had headlights, turn signals, or windshield wiper capabilities. The issues were discovered to be a result of a malfunctioning clock spring. Daimler Chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's headlights, turn signals, and windshield wiper capabilities. There is no indicator on the dashboard to alert the driver that these capabilities are no longer available.
Purchased my Jeep Wrangler in may of 2012. Since purchase there has been numerous instances of the wipers turning on when in the off position. Wipers make a single pass and stop. This problem occurs at all speeds. It also occurs at times when the turn signal is activated. I brought in for service and Jeep will not acknowledge problem unless they can duplicate during the service visit.
I have had numerous times that my gauges just stop working and then one day I went to drive it and I had no turn signals or brake lights. It is in the mechanic shop as we speak. They have found the electrical connector under the left side of the dash has completely melted and all the wires have fused together. I was very lucky that it didn't catch on fire. Now the other problem is finding the part my mechanic has tried everywhere to fin it. So now my Jeep is just sitting in the shop going on three days now until a part can be found. Why is there no recall on this as I see on here and other sites that it is dangerous and many have had the same issues??.

The contact stated that he took vehicle to dealership for repair again on 12/26/06 because the vehicle was still having the same electrical problems. Updated 1/17/2006 - windshield bracket bolts corroded. The left blinker would blink very fast. The dealer replaced the left front turn signal bulb. Gear shift became stuck. Vehicle was experiencing an erratic instrument cluster, and air bag light operation. Intermittently while driving instrument cluster, speedometer and tachometer rolled back to zero, and the air bag warning light came on. Also, at 82,000 miles left turn signal engaged when the brake pedal was depressed, and at 78,000 miles when driver's side door was opened while the truck was still running the defroster light came on. Dealership had not been contacted. Consumer took vehicle to two Jeep dealers and said that they're aware of the problem and many customers have experienced the same problem. Also, they said that it was a defective electrical connector.
Drivers seat belt comes undone at any speed every time you drive it - a few times each time you drive it, rear center mounted tail light does not work, tailgate hinges are extrremely difficult to shut causing the tailgate to not be closed properly all the time, front turn signal sometimes does not work, especially if it is wet out- dealer notified and was told that they cannot replace the socket (not a stock item), the bulbs are fine in the brake light and turn signal.
