1 Tire Valve problem of the 1997 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/11/2023

There have been 2 instances of the stem leaking air seemingly out of nowhere on 2 of the 5 tires within a year of installation. Both leaks were noticed after I had finished a drive. The service center we purchased the tires from has repaired 1 of them a few months ago and is currently repairing the second one. They told me that this is a somewhat common problem with this new tire design. 4wheelparts in waipahu hawaii can confirm that these repairs were necessary.

3 Tire Valve problem of the 2009 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/12/2012

After being alerted to a low tire pressure on my Jeeps tire pressure management system, I stopped to check the tires and add air. When I removed the valve stem cap on the rear drivers side tire, the valve stem which was severely corroded, crumbled and fell apart. I had to take it in to have the stem replaced. The mechanics that frequently change my oil have stated that all of the other valve stems are in the same condition and are in need of replacement. These are costly item to have replaced.

4 Tire Valve problem of the 2009 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/24/2012

The tire pressure monitors and valve stems in the Jeeps need to be looked at. We have had two literally "blow out" of our tire in less than 2 months. The last time my husband and son were traveling on the highway and lucky they weren't hurt or killed as after it blew out the tire shredded and they ended up on his rim. I called Chrysler/Jeep and they have me a case #. Our local Jeep dealer and a local tire store apparently told me this is a common problem that the valve stems/monitor rust and the seal isn't good on the tire anymore so they blow out. . . We could replace for $80 if we wanted. . . However there is no guarantee it won't happen again. Only way to fix it is to replace all monitors with rubber valve stems. I wasn't willing to wait on the "case" and have my family's safety at risk so I had them replaced on our Jeep. Of course Chrysler says there is nothing else they can do now b/c we handled it ourselves. We weren't asking for money or for them to pay -- all we want is to make sure this doesn't happen to someone else. They are aware of the problem and won't do anything about it. Someone is going to get killed. These can blow out at any time or place. My husband and son are just lucky. Please help get this problem taken care of before someone gets injured or dies!!!.

5 Tire Valve problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/31/2011

The first incident, which occurred in March 2011, two (2) valve stems developed air leaks due to rust. They were replaced by the dealership under warranty. The second incident happened on March 21, 2011, one (1) valve stem developed an air leak caused by a crack in the valve stem. The stem was replaced by a Jeep dealership again under warranty. The new valve stem has a black rubber coating where as the other 4 stems do not. . The vehicle has only 17200 miles and my fear is that my wife or myself maybe driving on the highway and another valve stem fails causing a blowout and then a serious accident maybe causing serious injury or death. I have spoken to the dealership and to Jeep customer service at an 800 number but they say nothing will be done to replace the 4 valve stems that do not have a rubber coating. It is obvious to me that there have been issues in the past, that the valve stems are being made differently now. Please investigate before there is a serious injury or death.
