The 2014 kia Forte ex has always had oil changes on time at about every 3000 miles. The car has always been operated in a respectful manner as much money was spent buying the car. Never had any problems with the car until recently started to vibrate excessively at idle, then started to make a nocking noise in the engine especially under load. We do not know if the car is safe to drive. I am waiting on a knock sensor software update recall letter. This lets us know kia dealerships have the ability to perform this part of recall as they are unable to do this as of 02/03/2021. I sure hope we can get this quality and safety problem resolved. The car has only 70060 miles on it. Engine failure should not occur this early on. I have never experienced any type of major engine failures with a car with this low of miles on it. Very likely a machining or engineering defect. Recall sc200. Took to dealership today said there is nothing they can do yet so to speak. They said it passed the part of inspection they are able to do so far. Kia headquarters in CA said nothing can do yet. We agreed wait to get software update. Meanwhile we have a car that we are afraid to drive, makes loud nocking noise. Recall sc200.
I was driving at about 50 mph and rpms were jumping to 5&6 for no reason. The engine started knocking, so I pulled over & the engine shut off. Mechanic says engine failure due to a broken rod on cylinder 3.
Engine failed without any warning lights and had a strong burning odor, after researching gdi engine in this model and other kia models the problems were simular except for recall on the Forte model.
Electrical issues have happened countless times. Such as turning on the blinker makes all lights go out in car then turn back on as well as replacing the brake lights on multiple occasions. Engine: should be recalled because it shakes and vibrations often times. The same way the kia optima engine theta ll engine had to be recalled due to engine failure this engine has similar issues and it overall isn't the best car with a passenger safety rating of just 2 or 3 stars. Kia needs to look into this issue with the engine and electrical components and recall them because they are unsafe. My engine should not vibrate the entire vehicle to the point where I'm vibrating obnoxiously. Also the electrical hazards are unreal especially if I have to replace brake lights multiple times. Kia. Look into this and fix it. These things happen whether the car is moving or not.
