The lane assist malfunction and periodically jerks. Very unsafe I no longer use this feature . To keep control of the vehicle. I never got it inspected. As the lane assist was in use and it would jerk it would alert me of a lane departure . I mention this to include every known problem I have experienced with the vehicle. The problem that brought me here. Is my engine light came on today. Leading up to this. I have had oil leaks since I've owned the car. Im adding oil in between oil changes due to it being low. In the beginning it was a hint of smell of gas in the oil. I was informed to do more frequent oil changes. Over time the smell of gas grew stronger . No indication to a problem then. Now the smell of gas is prominent in the oil. When the dip stick is checked its always needing more oil and smells of gas and has blackness like burning in the oil. Now there's a check engine light on. And everything I looked up says to discontinue driving the car. I am having a mechanic look at it with a code reader.

I own a 2020 kia Forte lxs with approximately 136,000 miles. The check engine light came on with code p0420 (“catalyst system efficiency below threshold”), and an express oil change & tire engineers location confirmed the catalytic converter is failing. The back pressure was measured and is within spec but slightly elevated, showing the part is deteriorating. I was also told my O2 sensors are burned due to the failing catalytic converter. This failure affects drivability and safety: the vehicle sometimes struggles on acceleration and hills, and I feel vibrations through the gas pedal. Because I commute 50 miles each way to work on the interstate, sudden loss of power would put me at risk in high-speed traffic. I have learned kia and Hyundai vehicles from other years/models (including the Forte) have had recalls and extended warranties for premature catalytic converter failure and excessive oil consumption, but kia has not yet extended coverage to the 2020 Forte. This appears to be the same issue. The vehicle has been inspected by express oil change & tire engineers, and the quoted cost for replacement is $3,000–$3,600. This should be investigated for potential recall or warranty extension to include the 2020 model year.
There is high oil consumption in my catalytic converter due to a failed oil pump or piston ring. I've just got this car in March haven't even put 10,000 miles on it. Kept up with maintenance oil changes. And currently undrivable.

While the vehicle was approximately ten months old with approximately 11k miles, it was continuously not functioning properly and would not start/accelerate. My 2024 kia Forte, which was purchased new from a kia dealership, has continuously failed to function properly. It had a water pump replaced after failing to be operated for more than a week and has since continued to fail - this time for not starting at all, not accelerating properly, and losing all power while driving (switching off completely) on at least two separate occasions. The dealership stated that I should drive the vehicle and document it when it occurs again (video) to assist them with identifying the issue since they are unable to correct the malfunction. It has been at the dealership for more than a month with no definitive resolution concerning the safety of the vehicle. I refuse to drive the vehicle and am afraid that I may injured/killed in an accident due to the safety concerns aforementioned. As of today's date, 09/22/2025, my 2024 kia Forte remains at the kia dealership with no foreseeable actions that may lead to a safe resolution. Further: 1) component or system failed/malfunctioned - engine, fuel pump, water pump. 2) is it available for inspection - yes. 3) how was your safety or that of others put at risk - vehicle switched off multiple times while operating in traffic and barely escaping accidents. Suffered a scrape on the passenger's door as vehicle would not accelerate and stalled in a separate incident. 4) vehicle or component been inspected by manufacturer - yes, at the kia dealership again. 5) were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure - no, there were no prior warning lamps, messages, or symptoms. Kia dealership stated that the 2024 kia Forte has been "reprogrammed", but the dealership has been unable to identify the safety issues it has. I do not feel safe to operate this vehicle nor have any family members operate it.

I purchased a 2017 kia Forte from a used car dealer. Two weeks after I picked up the car, the car stalled at intersections. I checked it out at a midas and they found that oil was not getting to the engine and it needed a new engine. I towed it back to the dealer because it was within the lemon law, under 75,000 miles. He said he fixed it, and replaced the engine, but after I picked it up, the same thing happened. I towed it back again and printed a list of mechanical things to check that was online. The second time, he said they cleaned the engine. I am concerned that there is a serious problem with the car and it is not safe to drive. I would have to restart the car and it would stall again. I have not picked up the car a third time again.
The fuel input is not working properly. Will not allow fuel to go into fuel tank. Risk of fuel spilling and fire hazard.

This car was sold to me without disclosing that the manufacture failed to have a engine security system on the car to at least "deter" auto theft. If the key to the car was programmed/chipped like other cars, it would provide at least some level of protection. I've already stopped car thieves from trying to steal it once by pure luck, but I'm like the thousands out there constantly worried that someone's going to try to take it in lieu of the social media challenges. The horrible settlement that out government gave us was to upgrade the software which provides no help with deterring thieves from breaking in and trying to steal it. The reimbursement provided in the settlement is complete joke, and doesn't offer to properly repair or reimburse for after-market security systems. This is evident from the fact that insurance companies still won't insure this car, even after the software upgrade. The insurance companies are telling me that they still won't insure the car even with upgrade because it doesn't stop thieves from breaking into the car and causing comprehensive damage to the car. I can only find a few insurance companies that will insure the car, and the premium cost is twice as much as I pay to insure a car that's worth twice as much money! if our government or NHTSA was truly concerned, they would have demanded that the manufacture make significant change to the ignition/engine starter, I. E. , changing out the ignition switch system with a programmed/chipped key, and/or engine starter kill without said key. If the manufacture and the government made this change a required "recall" to properly fix and advertised it nationwide, then thieves would at least be less inclined to cause damage, and insurance companies would feel more comfortable about taking the risk. This ongoing expense/problem for me has me seriously considering if anyone in my family should every purchase another kia/Hyundai product again. Stand behind your product with some integrity.

The check engine light turned on when starting the car. The car was shaking and running rough. The car was towed to the dealership and cylinder misfire was detected. Since the car is less than a year old and around 6000 miles, this needs to be addressed by the company. This accident happening while the car was on the road could have caused serious injuries and concerns.

Over the last 5 years that I have owned the vehicle, the engine will stall when idle or at low speeds. This has happened at stop lights, on hills and while on the highway (which is obviously very dangerous). The engine the vehicle has to be turned off and restarted and usually it will stall again within a few minutes. For the most part, this happens after the vehicle has been driven for at least 15-20 minutes and there are few issues at higher speeds. As such, when taken to the dealer, they have been unable to replicate the issue. The issue is sometimes resolved after an oil change, however it may recur before the next oil change is due (ie within 3 months). The vehicle has otherwise had it's recommended service many internet searches note many vehicles of my model and many other kia's with the exact same issue.

I keep taking my call to the kia dealership they say my oils is burning and could mess up my engine. They say it’s a recall for issue like this for 2017 kia Forte and I don’t understand why my car is not in that recall if the recalls is the same thing that’s happening to my car.
1. The knock sensor failed. As a consequence the vehicle will not run properly. 2. The vehicle has been at fred beans kia of langhorne for several weeks. I assume that it is available for inspection. 3. The vehicle will not run properly. It will not accelerate when the gas pedal is pressed and the engine often stops running. Very dangerous on highways and heavily traveled roadways. 4. Yes the problem has been confirmed by ciocca kia of trenton, NJ. Frank's service center 645 knowles Ave. , south hampton, PA 18966 and fred beans kia of langhorne, PA 19047. 5. Yes. See attached report. 6. Yes there was an engine warning light and a message on the screen.
There is an ongoing issue with the map sensor that triggers a check engine light as well as the rpms to fluctuate. This can happen when disconnecting the battery and/or replacing the map sensor. I replaced the map sensor and still get this ongoing issue. This is a safety concern because due to the rpms constantly fluctuating, the car jolts forward when driving which could possibly result to the car hitting another vehicle in front of it. But the only way to get it to stop / get the check engine light to turn off, is to drive it for x amount of miles until it fixes itself. This problem has been inspected by kia themselves and they did not give any information to me about the issue. This issue seems to happen any time I get the vehicle serviced.

At 86575 miles after routine check ups at the dealership and routine maintenance being done regularly my check engine light came on I tried to put gas in my car and it sprayed all over me and the car and the gas tank I can’t put gas in my car and the dealership is expecting me to cover this costs and I’ve seen many other documented incidents with the same complaints.
I take my car to kia dealership for my oil changes. They put the $45. 00 oil,not sure if conventional or semi. Apprx. 4mos ago they told me kia no longer use the $45. 00 oil so needed to upgrade to full synthetic oil. So I did, approx 2mos after, engine light came on flasing. With the oil light flashing aswell. I needed to add 4quarts. From that day foward the car does not have power. No more than 60mph. Ps. Added another 2 quarts adout 3weeks ago.
Break line, have to continue to fill break fluid, the smell of something burning when stopping or stopped , passenger right light keeps going out , continues need to be replaced.

Unknown. My 2017 kia Forte lx turns off while I’m driving. The entire car dies but the electric works. I have to put in park and sit a minute before my car will start again.
The car is unable to receive fuel adequately. Car was sold in an intermittently undriveable condition.
I as at work and received a message that there was a large oil spot where my car had been parked overnight at home. I checked my oil and it was not low. After work I was on my way to get my oil changed/checked and after 13 miles I heard a light knocking sound. I pulled over and checked my oil. My oil level was still good. I started my car and the noise was gone. I only had a few miles to the oil/lube express. Just as I pulled in the driveway of the business, the noise started again. The problem was the oil pressure sender unit was bad. The mechanic pushed it back on and I made it home without any noise. I called the dealership and the earliest they could make me an appt was 3 weeks out. No loaner car, my car had just ran out of warranty, and my car did not come up on recall for the list of engine recalls. I bought the part and a recently retired certified kia mechanic replaced it. Fast forward 4,000 the issue of the gas pump clicking off when my tank isn’t full has happened again. It started at aprox 36,000 when the engine light came on and it was impossible to put gas in. The car was checked out but nothing showed to be wrong. The code sensor was reset and I was able to fill up. Well this time, nothing is working. After a few seconds , gas spits out. This car has been a. Issue for the last 45,000 miles and my dealership was always booked. I’ve always had the oil changed on time as well as the other maintenance. None of my other vehicles have been so unreliable. I don’t feel I should have to pay for these things when 80,000 miles is not very many in 5 years.
I leased car 2020 illinois. No problems. I had car transported to in 2022 to los angeles, and after a few months, the car would check engine light all lights I believe, and car suddenly stops and dies out at each stop light. This happened 3 times and frightened me. It happened every couple months and the repair people never put notes on the repair invoice!! about exactly why I was bringing car in for repair, even if nothing on computer showed up, almost like the defect was bypassing (tricking computer) inspection. Have to restart and it would lost all power seconds later and on rainy days, passenger floor soaked. Nothing on repair places nor dealership would show any problem to fix?? however, when brought back to illinois, no problem with car, so far since January. So car did not like California or their emission gasoline no good. Plus even in heavy snow and rain last 3-months in illinois, passenger carpet never got wet.
Car shakes a lot with ac in setting 1 & 2. Kia official has checked and rechecked and stated to be “normal”. Car getting average of 17mpg and 250 miles per tank average. Despite being up to date. Car shakes excessively at idle.
Vehicle started to smell of fuel, located a fuel leak on top of gas tank, leaking connector. Vehicle not drivable, extreme fire hazard.

I purchased a kia Forte, 2012, in September of 2021. The engine has stalled, several times after putting gas in it and last week after filling up, gas fumes permeated the inside of the car while driving. Recently, this has started happening regularly. When I decided to investigate why this is happening, so that I have awareness of possibilities before going to the crooked dealer, I learned of the class action lawsuit settlement against Hyundai/kia specifically related to deadly engine stalling while driving and engine fires as a result of the identical problem which I am having. When I put my VIN into your site, it comes up as zero recalls, however, as you state on your site, many vehicles vins are still updating. I did the research to learn if my vehicle fit the category of how this is happening. The dangerous defect is happening with Hyundai/kia theta ii multi-port fuel injection (mpi) engines, nu gasoline direct injection (gdi) engines, and gamma gdi engines described in the combined lawsuit and all vehicles that have the defect, which adds up to 1. 05 million. The vehicles involved in the settlement are theta ii, Hyundai tucson/ix35 (lm) (2009–2015), Hyundai sonata (2007–2014) kia Forte (td) (2008–2012), kia optima/k5 (2008–2012), kia sportage (sl) (2010–2013) my 2012 kia Forte has the 2. 0l dohc mpi theta ii multi-port fuel injection (mpi) engine listed as defective. As a female veteran who drives 60 miles to the nearest veteran's hospital, I am now scared to drive the car due to reports of the vehicle stalling in traffic and in my case on the California freeway where speeds normally are typically 65 to 75 mph. I have no other vehicle. I purchased this vehicle for the outstanding carfax and experian reports as a rental car, resulting in the highest standard and consistent servicing for years. Please rush this complaint so that I can keep my va doctor appointments. I am scared, my VIN is knafu4a29c5590130. Thank you.
Starting around 50k mileage, the engine experienced misfire-like issues: rough idling & transitory reduction of power during acceleration and cruising. This was brought to the dealership multiple times, but the check engine light had never come on, nor were there any error codes saved in the obd system. After 60k mileage, the check engine light did come on temporarily, but would automatically clear, still without any error codes saved in obd. Around 65k mileage, the vehicle could not accelerate to highway speeds, so I had it towed to the dealer and refused to take it back until they found the issue. They then observed an error saved in obd showing a misfire on cylinder 3. Replaced all spark plugs + coil packs, which seems to have corrected the problem. After 70k mileage, I observed that the engine burns oil, about 1 quart per 3k miles. This rate has stayed consistent up to the current 100k mileage.
Engine can stall at lower speeds (10-30 mph) after being on the highway for an extended amount of time. Can also happen after being on the highway, parking and waiting for some time (30 min), and start driving again at lower speeds. Issue becomes more prominent when going uphill slowly (little to no pressure on gas pedal). A rumble can sometimes be felt through the gas pedal too, but not always. Usually the engine starts making some noise ('gurgling') to indicate that the engine is in this state and it usually stall after coasting for some time or pressing very little on the gas (noise may become louder when doing this). I've seen the engine stall around 1000 rpm when doing this. Sometimes the oil light will also start appearing and it seems that the engine is not being responsive when pressing on the gas pedal. Car can stall in these cases or may recover and eventually stall. I've had this issue since the beginning of the year, but an engine check light has not come on for it since then (other than one for a spark plug and coil, but this was addressed in February 2022). Safety concern is mostly when driving in cities or at lower speeds and making unprotected left/right turns where the car may possible stall. Mechanic was able to reproduce this in February but suggested that I take the car to the dealer after difficulty finding the cause . Dealer was unable to solve it in April and suggested waiting for a check engine light.
My car is stalling. Stalled on the highway. Has knocking sound. And if I let up off the gas at all it stalls. Will stall in neutral as well. Was involved in an accident last year and airbags did not deploy even though they should have. My car started stalling at 86,000 miles with regular oil changes. I’ve only had the vehicle about a year and a half. My lights also are shorted out due to the trunk not closing all the way and rain water getting in. I’m still making payments. I do not know what to do. I’m a sole caregiver to my terminally ill mother. I need this car. I do not make very much money.
Car stalled and shut off while in drive leading it to be towed.
The engine on my kia Forte failed just 12k miles after a recall service that was intended to ensure an additional 80k miles of engine use. Either the recall work to ensure that additional range was defective, or the process that designed the work was defective. Recall # 20v750 was to check for engine damage, and install a knock sensor update that would prevent engine failure. At the time of service the dealership ignored reported oil problems and did not perform the inspection as described in the recall notice. The eventual sensor alert that was supposed to prevent damage is instead being treated by the dealer as a catastrophic result that requires replacement. On two fronts the work performed was not as described- there was no legitimate inspection (note the reported oil burn reported by the dealership), and the prevention-enabling sensor update failed to prevent anything.
When driving the car will stall. I was in a parking lot moving forward at 3mph, hit the brakes and the car stalled. After work the other night, while exiting one freeway ti enter another driving about 45mph, the car just stall and shut off. I had to put it in neutral, turn the ignition to the off position(which turns the lights off), and restart the vehicle. This is extremly dangerous.
Car completely shut down while in drive on 2 separate occasions leading it to be towed to dealership.
I was told to come to service department on 2/22/2022 to change my indicator light because it was not working and had to be ordered in advance and for recall on trunk latch. The invoice said bulb was replaced and trunk lock and did multi point inspection. I asked her if everything was ok with my car she said yes but the next day I realized it indicator light was still not working. I got another recall to replace air bag. I called in and got a service appointment for 4/2/2022. I told them the indicator was still not working and I was having an oil leak. They said $155. 00 for inspection for leak, confirmed that one of the oil pan was leaking and would cost $200. 00 to replace but it was cover under warranty. I said ok. When I turned on car and try to drive out there was a funny scraping sound, one of the managers came out when he saw me stop and getting out of car and said it was because of the painted surface of the service entrance. The next day I looked at the invoice and saw that they did not replace the oil pan but had "scraped off factory rtv and replace it with fresh rtv and reinstalled oil pan. " my indicator light still does not work. I am still having leak, pool is on my garage floor and also drips. I am worried now because I am not sure air bag was changed even when they said they had and have done another "multi-point vehicle inspection.
I purchase the car from a car lotin the city where I live I got the car in March of 2020 I drove the car for 3 months one of my head lights started to short out so ialevieated the problem two months later a motor mount went bad I had it replaced after that my sensor s started to malfunction.
We have not been able to get this vehicle to pass emissions, ive taken it to multiple kia locations and no one has been able to help. The engine light has been on and theyve changed the sensor as thats what repair shop suggested it may be, but still nothing. Then just out of the blue its stopped working. I took it to a smaller shop as I no longer trusted the kia dealership and the guy told me it was a recall as this is not an old car and it needed engine work. I contacted kia and they said yes there was an important sfety recall that we should of received a letter, suggested to call 18003334542 for a tow, but I have spoken to 6 people who I cant understand and have been able to get a tow to a kia dealership.
