While vehicle is in motion on a city street, several warning lights popped up on the dashboard: electronic pwr steering, electronic stability indicator, tpms tire pressure, malfunction indicator lamp, autonomus emergency brake, adaptive front lighting , and low tire pressure warning lights. At the same time that all those lights turned on (while in motion) the odometer and speedometer needle stopped registering speed and dropped to zero on both gauges along with the temperature gauge as well. I proceeded to put the hazard lights on and pull over safely. Once stationary I placed the car in park, then the gear shift locked up and would not unlock. After about 20 minutes of being stationary on the side of the road, I was able to engage the gear shift, place it in drive and proceed down the road. While the vehicle was in motion the warning lights proceeded to stay on and the speedometer/odometer were not registering speed throughout the remainder of my trip.

I've been having issues with the fcw (forward collision warning) not working properly over a year. At first I thought it would correct itself, but the problem became more prevalent, and with research, others have said they've had this same problem as well. There have also been numerous times when I've been merging onto an interstate and the car would not go over 60-65 mph no matter how hard I pushed the gas. Yesterday was when the real issues began. I was driving on a city street when my entire system blacked out. I could see anything on the screen, and this was surprising to me because I had just taken my car to a local kia and they said they had updated the system. About 20-30 minutes later I visit a local store to pick up a few items. The car had to be off only 2 or 3 minutes, when I return and started to start the car it sputtered and would turn over. I attempted a few more times and it finally did so. My car only had about 26,000 miles, there is no way I should be experience problems as such, and I get it serviced regularly. Lastly, I was on my way home and I stopped at a family members house to pick up some things and I parked about 10-15 feet from the house and I leave the car idling in park. Before I even walk away from the car, I stood at my car door talking for about a minute or 2. I'm in the house for about 15-20 minutes them all of a sudden there is a loud thud outside. My car has managed to fall out of gear and roll into my family members porch. It sustained some damage to the drivers side bumper and fender. With more research I discovered that this has been a problem with this particular make and model as well. This car is basically a lemon.

This vehicle has had several incidence of being "locked" at one speed. When applying pressure to the gas the car will speed up until reaching 30-35mph and will no longer accelerate. The gas pedal could be touching the floor and the car will not accelerate past 35mph. The vehicle had been serviced at our local kia dealer in the early fall of 2019. It was said to be repaired now less than 6 months later the problem has occurred again. This has happened on city streets and highways sometimes almost causing accidents.

After braking to stop at red light on a highway on a hill, kia Forte 2010 kept moving uphill at low speed (5mph or less). Brakes did not respond. Car stopped after hitting bumper of another vehicle. Brakes worked normally after that, but car sometimes rocks after being put in park.

Update to claim 11277949 kia dealer claims shifter bushing and the transmission switch. Strange that such a dangerous was treated with more concern. 5 more seconds of that malfunction and I would have wounded or killed a innocent pedestrian.
Vehicle was in my driveway had to move car forward to get into my trunk as I was only going a few feet I got into car leaving door partial open with my left leg hanging out as I started the car it instaniously surged forward 10 to 12 feet into my garage pinning my leg between the door and the rocker panel after coming to a stop running into a cabinet in the garage I slammed the car in reverse backing out of garage after getting out of car I could see that my foot had been severly cut wide open shortly after my daughter drove me to the hospital to emergency care where I received 14 stitches on top of foot. Have been unable to return to work for two weeks since 9/16/19 and may be another two to three weeks before able to return to work.

Car will randomly hesitate and shake with powerloss maybe once every few days. This will happen when coming to a stop then accelerating again after driving for 30 minutes or so . Cel will either not display or blink a few times but go away (and not show up on the history) making it impossible to diagnose. Took it to 2 kia dealers, both said that they've seen this on a lot kia Fortes. , they have made the recommended repairs but still have the issue.
When accelerating there is no power and it is going to cause the accident I was on the freeway I went to switch lanes I hit the gas and the car would not move just stood there and rp m's going up.
This problem happened 2 times this week & on 2 separate days while I was driving & since I only drive this car once or twice a week this has me concerned. . The car started ok and drove for a couple of miles just fine when suddenly the car felt like I was trying to drive while the car was in neutral & even with my foot was on the gas pedal the car wasn't going anywhere. . I pulled off the road to get out of the flow of traffic & tried to put the shift lever in a different gear but it was stuck in drive even when my foot was firmly on the brake pedal, so I tried to 'jiggle' it a little from left to right but the shift lever wouldn't really move so I just sat there. . After a few minutes I made an attempt to safely pull out into traffic & the car hesitated a little but then drove fine. . When this happened the first time this week I ignored it and treated it as a 'one time only' issue, but then it happened a second time so I got concerned and made an appointment with citrus kia for 3/15/19 to have this checked out. . I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this but felt I should report it and will update this after the kia dealer has a look at it. .
I am writing to inform you of an incident which occurred on Friday January 25, 2019 at approximately 2:40 pm while my son was operating his 2019 kia Forte. The weather that day was sunny and clear and the road was dry and level. 1. My son was traveling north in the right lane of the seaford oyster bay expressway (NY-135) at normal highway speed. 2. As he approached exit 13e he began to decelerate engaged his right turn signal and entered the exit lane for exit 13e. 3. As he attempted to bear to the right and exit the highway the vehicles lane keeping assist system was pulling him to the left back towards the highway. 4. As he fought to turn the wheel to right to stay on the exit he entered the hashed section of roadway between the exit and the highway. As he applied the brakes in an attempt to stop, the vehicle's accelerator pinned itself to the floor all by itself causing the rear of the vehicle to fishtail to the left and he headed directly towards the guardrail on the right side of the exit. He then cut the wheel to correct the vehicle and the rear then fishtailed to the right. As this occurred he attempted to free the accelerator pedal with his foot without success. He then firmly applied the brakes which activated the anti-lock braking system and the accelerator pedal released from the floor. He was able to regain control of the vehicle and pulled off to the shoulder to collect himself and inspect the vehicle. Thankfully he was not injured or involved in any collisions.
The vehicle of concern reportedly had been parked all day in a parking lot at work with the doors locked and in park. At the end of the day the vehicle was remote started from inside the building approximately 20 feet away. The vehicle started and then a few seconds latter it apparently shifted into drive and then accelerated into the outside of the building located approximately 10 feet away. The incident was recorded on the building security video which shows that no one entered or exited the vehicle before or after the crash occurred. It also shows that the vehicle started and then rolled forward into the building. The edr was imaged by the e-n-k-01-00-0027 tool and no events were recorded.

When starting my vehicle in park, I put it in reverse, and it barely goes. It seems to lack power, or is being bogged down. It almost comes to a complete stop, and then it suddenly kicks in, and jerks you backwards very fast. It is scary because I could easily hit something or crash, because the car becomes almost out of control. You never know when it is going to kick back in either. I have taken it to the kia dealer, but they said it did not do it for them of course. So I am stuck with a car that is having a lot of issues. I don't have the money to fix them right now. I am not working, and the dealership that sold me the car ripped me off. I have already put a lot of money into it. It seems to do it the worst when it rains for some reason.

Vehicle is unsafe to drive cuts off in the middle of driving while in traffic. Vehicle doesn't accelerate, it slows down while driving causing other vehicles to have to decelerate or go around to avoid hitting me. This is a serious safety issue and need to be investigated by kia as soon as possible before a collision happens with my children in the car. This has happened more than one time.
My car accelerates on its own. Fully stopped, my car is on 1000rpms, I will be driving at a constant speed and my rpm shoots all the way up.

Tl-the contact owns a 2018 kia Forte. The contact stated that while depressing the accelerating pedal, the pedal failed to release and was stuck. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure millage was 1,462. Ak.
I was sold a 2016 kia Forte with a bad transmission and the dealership cancelled my warranty the year that I bought the car I was not aware that they cancelled it until I found out my transmission was bad and went to the dealership to try to have them fix it and they told me the warranty was canceled. I spoke to a mechanic and they told me that a lot of people are having the same issue with their 2016 kia Forte's. I bought this car in order to get my son to his specialists he has spina bifida he needs to see a neurologist, orthopedics, urologist, etc over an hour away now my transmission is completely gone and I don't know what to do because I can't afford the repair. Please recall this car. I know a lot of people who have transmission issues with their kia's my mother for example back in 2010 she purchased the kia rio it was brand new at the time and a year later the transmission went bad on it every kia transmission seems to be a hunk of crap I shouldn't have to deal with these repairs.
I had report the issue to kia of tupelo, ms. My card has had two recent issues. The first one being that upon acceleration, white smoke has been noted twice. The car has stalled out twice upon take off on the highway/interstate. This concern me greatly! on my most recent oil change, it was discovered that I have at least two quarts of oil shortage, with no leaks noted.
On the way to a scheduled appointment with kia for a check engine light the car stalled on a city street. It started rough after and then stalled again 2 miles after that on a curved city intersection. The car would not turn over after the second stall and had to be towed to the kia dealership. Metal shavings were discovered in the engine and oil. The engine also showed damage to the cylinder head and timing chain from the metal shavings. The car needs the engine replaced, but a new or used engine is not available and I was advised that a new engine needs to be built at a minimum of $10,000. The car has 103,000 miles on it and only worth $3,400 in good condition. There is a class action lawsuit for this problem with other kia and hyundia vehicles but my model is not included. Case no. 8:16-cv-01033.
This is the 2nd engine replacement I have had to do in a 2013 car. Driving 60mph without warning car stalled and I was forced to coax to the side of rural country road, in the middle of extreme cold weather the 2nd time. The 1st time I was driving the car abfter just getting oil changed and car made a loud noise and car stalled while driving on interstate at 70mph. Car was towed and engine was blown each time. I have contacted kia on both occasions and on both occasions car was sent to dealership and could not figure out why engine blew. Oil levels where found good. This is ridiculous that I have had two replace 2 engines in a 2013 kia which is financed and kia refuses to do anything about it. I have receipts as well as reports done on car each time this occurred. However they are in glovebox of car at garage getting a new engine!.

I was driving down the expressway when my car lost power. I tried giving it gas and it just would sputter, still barely moving. I had people almost hitting me. The car has less than 30,000 miles and I just had bought it 60 something days ago. The car will just loose power no matter how fast you going. The car is unsafe to drive.
Ive been experiencing what other people on kia forums has labeled as hard shifting since November of 2017. When I start driving the car jerks really hard in between 1-2 rpm or when it's shifting. It's not the transmission fluid and it may be the heat temp sensor but I don't know.
Engine keeps turning off when driving at 65 mph it also jerks accelerate by itself loosen power it occurs occasionally, engine smells burn oil and engine light comes on. Dealer has failed to reproduce failure and now they want to charge me $185 to run a full diagnose this problem started after 8/16/2017 after dealer service.
The contact owns a 2011 kia Forte. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at 30 mph, there was smoke coming from the passenger's side window. The contact also stated that when the daughter applied the accelerator pedal, it failed to function and the vehicle gradually stopped completely. The contact's daughter got out of the vehicle and saw a red fluid underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was left at the side of the road. The vehicle was not towed or taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v070000 (power train), however the part to do the repair was unavailable. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-333-4542. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was part of the recall. A case number: 12391153 was provided. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
Too much accleration on the open highway. The screws in my visors keep coming out. I was only given a donut tire upon purchase. The paint on the car is so cheap I'm seeing scratches all thru the paint on my car.
I am writing this letter to provide you notice of unresolved defects in my 2010 kia Forte ex, kia case no. K3395476. Please see attached file titled, "harvey nhsta summary of events" for complete nature of the complaint as I ran out of characters.
After my 5k mile oil change, this was the first oil change. I had to take it back because of a loud ticking sound. I overheard the service suprv say that there was a defect on Fortes. But, he tried to tell me that nothing was wrong until I told him what I heard him say over the walkie. Then, they kept the car and changed the pulley system. Now, here's another problem. Not sure if it's related to the pulley issue. 1st time, I was driving on the hwy going about 70mph in 6thgear and it popped out of 6th to neutral. I looked down because I didn't know what happened. I quickly put it back into 6th. 2nd time. February 23rd 2017 I was driving 75 mph on I-20 passing redoak, TX and the gear popped out of 6th into neutral. Scared me, I immediately shifted it back to 6th. I made an appt the next day after the 2nd incident and wad told they couldn't duplicate the problem. If it gets worse to bring it back. It did it again on that Sunday, March 5th 2017 while I was driving 75 - 80 mph to louisiana. Now, I have a log and will log every time it happens and im going to take the log with me when I go back to kia service dept.
The vehicle will accelerate on its own when driving at highway speeds. When driving in town , it will not accelerate after idling such as at a traffic light.
When I'm driving my car it jerks feels like it's going to turn off and the engine light come on.
Takata recall needs to recall the breaks on the 2014 kia Forte. On novemeber 21st 2016 I totalled my kia due to failure of manafacurer breaks they didnt stop me and I rear ended a car which hot another that hit another. The speed control on the car is very hard to control I bearly push on fhe gas and it zoomed off t went from 0-30 really quick. Durring the wreck I was going approximately 25-30 mph which when I hit the car due to the breaks failing my car bouced off of it and the airbags never deployed. The road was dry it was dark outside ot was 5:58 am and very clear outside. The roads were very dry not slick at alll my car jolted as the breaks tried to stop me but they never atopped me. It was on a back road heading to take my husband to work.
When driving on freeway at flow of traffic motor shuts down at high speed and on the highways.
Tire pressure light constantly goes on and off, car continually gets stuck in park and while driving dash doesn't show gears. Brought to deal provided pictures as proof and was told they could not duplicate problem. Asked for paperwork and they said they would mail it never received paperwork.
When you push gas feed it hesitates then you push a little more it goes to fast. Driving in town traffic is a problem you push gas feed a little it doesn't want to go give a little more gas and it goes to fast. Went back to dealer ship only had the car around 2 months they put new throttle body on, still had same problem. We traded the car back to the dealership for another kia Forte which cost us another 3 thousand dollars because car was not safe . Now the new kia Forte is doing the same thing.
