I have had this car for about 8 years now and I have had issues with the rear tail light/ brake light bulbs continuously blowing out. I have to replace them almost every 1-2 months. When replacing them, they are very hot. Not sure if this is a wiring issue among many other Fortes as I had read upon numerous complaints from owners with the same issue.

5 Wiring problem of the 2017 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 03/06/2020

I bought this car brand new at the end of 2017. I have taken extremely good care of the car. A little over a year ago, I took it into the dealership to get something cosmetic fixed on the interior. I picked up my car and when I got home I realized both headlights and one brake light were not working. I took my car back in and they insisted that when one light goes out, they all go out which isn't true. I insisted that there must be an electrical issue and that I wanted a technician to check it since my lights were working just fine when I brought my vehicle in. After many different appointments and inspections it was determined that it was my wiring harness that was broken on the drivers side. Warranty didn't cover it. Less than a year later same thing happened on the left side, warranty didn't cover it. The technician even stated that the engine got too hot and melted the wires. He was surprised warranty didn't cover this issue since it happened on both sides within a year to a car that is fairly new and really well taken care of. Having both headlights and brake light not working is very dangerous. Especially when driving in a dark and rainy area. How has this happened to so many people and this vehicle hasn't been recalled? I am extremely disappointed in kia and think there should be some sort of class action lawsuit or recourse. After reading all of these complains that are the same, I am shocked kia has not taken care of their customers.

6 Wiring problem of the 2017 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 12/17/2019

3 weeks ago my vehicle went through its annual safety inspection here in massachusetts and it failed. The problem has to do with my rear brake lights which were not working. The technician informed me that the electrical wiring was burned out due to water getting into the lines. He indicated that the repair would probably be covered under kia's 10 year warranty. I plan to reach out to my local kia dealership to have them investigate, and hopefully repair this defect on their dime. Any input or related issues brought to your attention would be appreciated as well as if your organization has issued a recall addressing this issue.

8 Wiring problem of the 2019 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 09/10/2019

Hit a parking space bumper with front bumper, passenger side, lower edge. Several days later, dash msgs said I had steering problems, abs, collision avoidance failure and to see dealer immediately. Called kia roadside service and reported dash msgs and they said not to drive vehicle and towed it in to salt lake city dealer. Dealer refused warranty svc because of bumper damage and advised wiring harness out, $4200 repair or $468. Patch repair. Is this vehicle safe to drive with wiring harness able to be knocked out from hitting a parking space bumper with slight lower edge damage, that could also be caused by rock bouncing up from highway or any other road material that is encountered every day. Mileage was 11496 at time of towing in to jerry seiner, kia dealer case 13347285.

10 Wiring problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 07/06/2019

I purchased this kia in 2014, since then, I have had to repeatedly replace the headlights, tail / brake lights and the license plate lights. The plastic part of the connectors have dried out and are breaking into pieces due to the wiring getting too hot, as the parts that are left are now starting to melt. I have owned several different cars and I have never had to replace the lights as much as in this car. Also, another issue is the driver side seat belt doesn't want to unlatch. I will be parked and it would sometimes take about 2 min for it to unlatch. Sometimes I would think it wasn't ever going to unlatch and I would be trapped.

12 Wiring problem of the 2014 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 03/09/2018

The cover of the antenna ("shark fin") has fell off possibly due to a carwash. The cover protects the antenna and potentially some other wiring in the car and its radio. The manufacturer (kia) does not replace the (plastic) cover, but rather changes the whole antenna wiring to the radio. This costs (in the DC area) about $650. I do not see the reason why the manufacturer does not have a more inexpensive solution for this rather potentially frequent problem. Is it reasonable to ask for that much money in order to solve an easy to fix problem that if not fixed might mess with the electronics of your car? I think not.

13 Wiring problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 01/28/2016

Just recently (within this month) I have noticed that when I turn on my blinker either way, or step on my break my radio or music from my phone cuts out. It does not happen every time and I do not notice it happening at a particular speed. It happens mostly on the freeway but I just notice it did it on a surface street today. My headlights and my inside roof lights flicker also. Had a friend check it out and he said he could not find anything. Checked all the wiring for corrosion, something grounding where it shouldn't be, check my battery voltage and my transmission. Cannot figure out the problem and I am concerned about it being an electrical issue due to me driving 100+ miles a day, 6 days a week. Last thing I need is for my car to catch fire. . .

14 Wiring problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 06/12/2013

The contact owns a 2012 kia Forte. The contact stated that while the vehicle was powered off and parked, the engine started racing. The vehicle stopping after running for one full hour. The contact had to have the vehicle towed to a dealer however, the dealer could not find an issue with the vehicle. The failure recurred later and the vehicle became engulfed in flames. In addition, the air bags independently deployed. The fire department was called and was able to extinguish the fire. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer, who stated that the coating around the wire near the emergency brakes had melted and left the wires exposed. The dealer stated that the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The contact called the manufacturer and filed a complaint. The failure mileage was 35,000.

15 Wiring problem of the 2010 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 01/08/2013

Starting about a year ago, the headlights on my car (low beam) started to regularly burn out about every month or two. I finally brought it into the dealership to find out what was going on and was told that there was a ground problem in both the wiring harnesses for the headlights. (the same issue in both ?? ) this has to be a safety defect as it has caused me to be driving at night when both of them burned out at the same time. With the same defect being in two different parts on the same car, I have a hard time believing this is not a general problem especially after talking to people in the dealership having similar problems. .
