Loud Engine Noise problems of the 2014 Kia Motor Optima

1 Loud Engine Noise problem

~tl the contact owns a 2014 kia Optima. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to billion auto - kia of iowa city 2845 mormon trek blvd, iowa city, IA 52246 to be repaired under an unknown recall. The vehicle was repaired however, the contact noticed by the service sticker placed on the window that the wrong type of oil was placed in the vehicle. After contacting the dealer, the contact was informed that they used that type of oil due to the recall update. As the contact started to drive the vehicle, the engine stalled while the check engine light started to flash. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer where they initially informed him that there were no problems with the vehicle. As the problem persisted, the contact took the vehicle back for a second time and the vehicle was diagnosed with an engine misfire. The contact had the vehicle repaired by an independent mechanic; however, the failure continued to persist. The contact then stated that while driving at 25 mph, the engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle loss motive power and struck an unknown object which caused a blowout of the passenger's side front tire. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the tire was replaced. The next day while driving at a low speed, the contact became aware that the accelerator pedal was loose and additionally, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the engine oil level was very low despite having a recent oil change. The manufacturer was then notified of the failure and was informed that they would investigate the matter. After not hearing from the manufacturer, the contact called back and was informed that the manufacturer was unsuccessful in reaching the dealer. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 158,000.

2 Loud Engine Noise problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

Tl- the contact owns a 2014 kia Optima. While driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal noise coming from the engine. The vehicle lost power and stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to coast to the side of the road. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle but it failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the contact residence. The vehicle was later taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to horne kia dealer located at 1465 e motorplex loop, gilbert, az 85297, (480) 725-5220, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and open a case # 12749792. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000. Aw.

3 Loud Engine Noise problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2016

The contact owns a 2014 kia Optima. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle made a loud noise from the engine bay. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there was sludge build up in the engine. The engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 51,000.

4 Loud Engine Noise problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2016

Tl the contact owns a 2014 kia Optima. The contact heard an extremely loud noise coming from the engine compartment. The manufacturer's remedy for the knock sensor detection test (campaign number pi1803 - (ksds)) for a software update failed to provide a permanent repair. Shortly after the vehicle was repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 17v224000 (engine and engine cooling) by car pros kia glendale (400 s brand blvd, glendale, CA 91204, (818) 745-1400), the noise continued. The engine assembly was replaced; however, the failure continued. The vehicle was taken to two other dealers: kia of alhambra (1247 w main st, alhambra, CA 91801, (626) 478-1012) and covina valley kia (626 s citrus Ave, covina, CA 91723, (626) 736-4275) for further diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and provided a case number. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000.
