Automatic Transmission Floor Shift Problems of Kia Motor Optima

The shifter cable came off during the car was on motion in my driveway. . And unable to put it in park. My driveway has quite inclining uphill. . Imagine if the car would roll back . . Or simply the fact it worries me if that could happen somewhere away I would totally get stranded. . Upon google I was able to confirm that kia using the cheap parts and this happened to others also. . My boyfriend was able open gear console cover and snapped the cable ring back . . . Kia should replace this part ASAP. Btw . . This was the second time it happened within a year.

I went to back out of my driveway and ended up in the middle of the road and not able to shift into drive. The dash shows that I am currently stuck in neutral and am not able to change gears. I looked up recalls and I see that there is a power train: automatic transmission lever and linkage column shift recall from March 2011. I bought this car in June 2011. When I and the kia dealership here in town look up my VIN number, it is not showing any recalls currently. How do I go about getting this fixed if it is in fact the exact issue from the recall 11v153000? the dealership would not even look at the recall information I have found. I have not had any issues related to this until yesterday afternoon. I ended up pushing my car up into my driveway for now.

Called both service dealerships and main kia offices about recalls to my car concerning airbags and transmission linkage. No help given on recalls to vehicle. The contact owns 2007 kia Optima LS. When the vehicle was parked the shifter cable disconnected and would not go into park. The keys were not in the ignition when the vehicle started rolling out of the parking space. When she got back into the vehicle the brakes and the emergency brake were engaged to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and the cable was attached at no charge to the contact. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that there were no recalls or warranties related to the failure. The failure and current mileages were 73,000.
