Brake lights will not go off after I turn off my car. Sometimes the brake lights and back lights pops on even when the car is off and will not turn off. The slippery when wet light stays on at all times. When I am driving the car and I have to use the brakes to stop at a red light or stop sign the car moves very slowing and stalls. Sometimes when I am driving the car looses power. I was driving on the interstate twice and the car just lost power and began to slow down. This was a huge safety concern. Now the car has no power.

12 Brake Light problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Optima

Failure Date: 11/10/2017

I first noticed a problem with my vehicle when the cruise control would randomly disengage while going down the interstate. Then a couple of weeks later I was making a left turn across a two lanes of traffic on a city street. When I first pushed the accelerator the car started to go and then suddenly I lost all acceleration. I let my foot off the accelerator and then pushed back down and was able to go. This was a very dangerous situation as I was stuck in the middle of two lanes of traffic for several extra seconds longer than necessary. A similar situation happened a couple of more time and when I parked the vehicle at home I noticed that brake light was staying on after I got out of the car. I took the car to the local kia dealership and they replaced the brake sensor which fixed all of the above problems. I would like to not that Hyundai issued a recall on the nearly identical sonata for this same issue and did so years ago and yet nothing for the Optima.

13 Brake Light problem of the 2011 Kia Motor Optima

Failure Date: 09/25/2015

Steering wheel has a clicking sound when turning. Bought it into a collision center, the technician said that it was a service recall on Optima. He knew that sound before I described it to him. Brake light bulb blows as soon as you put them in. The tech said there was a problem with the electrical system.

14 Brake Light problem of the 2007 Kia Motor Optima

Failure Date: 06/23/2014

I bougjt this car in 2014. I have replaced both low-beam headlights, twice, a brake light, both rear blinkers, a front blinker, as well as both highbeams. I have never replaced even half the number of lights in the entire lifetime of ownership of any vehicle I have owned in the past. This is an obvious recall issue based on safety as well as quality if kia cared. When the lights are working I have to drive with my high-beams on and I never get flashed or pulled over. It is extremely hard to see vs. Any other vehicle. I have had many friends and family in the car and have shared the story. And everyone says the same thing, its like the brights in this car is everyone else's regular lights. In fact, many people say the high-beams are not as bright as most vehicles low-beams. It is ridiculous and unfair that us owners have to spend $10-$35 on a bulb or two an average of every 5-8 weeks. Crazy. . . . Kia step up and fix this quality and safety issue. Gov't I guess wont step in without someone dying first and it making the news because I see I am not the first by any means, and wont be the last!.
