1 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2019

Airbag light is on, tried several times to have it reset but it wont go away took to get a diagnostic test and they keep saying that they cant pinpoint the problem, trying to charge me $1500-2000 to find and fix. .

2 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2018

The air bag light is on and has been on for almost a week. I was told my car wasn't under the recall so now I have to pay for the repair myself.

3 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2017

After a few years of owning the van my battery died. I replaced the battery but because of the low battery voltage it caused the airbag light to illuminate [code: "b1102-ub (vb ?) low voltage (<8v)"]. When the is light on none of the airbags will function in an accident. Even though there is nothing wrong with the system, the light can only be shut off (and thus make the airbags functional) by clearing the code with a special reader that only the dealerships appear to have. The dealership will only do this if you pay $280. This is outrageous, there's no reason the airbag system shouldn't function after the code has been resolved. I feel like this is extortion from kia. The federal government mandates that cars have to have airbags you would expect that they would be required to work if there is nothing wrong with the system.

4 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2017

Problem #1. At approximately 111,000 miles my Sedona's airbag light illuminated on my dash panel. . . And has stayed illuminated ever since. There was no accident or incident to provoke this light to illuminate. Kia of dartmouth (MA) said it's a drivers side seatbelt sensor that is "bad". Cost to repair $274. 80! why is a "bad" sensor not the responsibility of the manufacturer? it's faulty. There was no misuse or abuse by the consumer, in other words, why is there no recall on this item? problem #2. At approximately 108,000 my Sedona's tpms light and ( ! ) lights illuminated on my dash panel. . . And have stayed illuminated since. The tires are inflated to manufacture's specifications so there is no chance that the tires are under or over inflated. Again, there is a "bad" sensor(s). Why isn't there a recall on these faulty sensors?.

5 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2016

Airbag light came on and lookes like the sterring wheel airbag almost came out.

6 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2016

Went to auto parts store for oil filter - parked car. After filter purchase left store, tossed oil filter (fram tg9999) on passenger seat and started car; air bag light lit for the first time ever; no air bags were deployed. The vehicle (2006 Sedona) has never been in an accident. The vehicle has 150052 miles on it and runs well. Contacted kia about issue to see if there was a recall for air bag issues - was informed that there was no recall and told that vehicle is out of warranty having more than 100k miles, so I would have to have this serviced by a kia dealer. Date below approx.

7 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2016

This complaint is regarding a single-owner 2006 kia Sedona. Since 2006 I have had numerous electrical related problems. Over half the buttons and knobs on the stock cd player/radio have not worked for approximately eight years. I am having to replace headlight and turn signal bulbs every few months. The airbag indicator light is illuminated and will not shut off. I have not been involved in any accidents (yet) and would expect my airbags to deploy if and when necessary. My understanding is that the airbags will not function if the indicator light is illuminated. This is a major safety concern, as this is a family vehicle and I have three small children, and I take frequent road trips due to my job. As far as I know, there are no recalls associated with the airbag or electrical/lighting system for this vehicle. Based on my research of complaints associated with this vehicle year, make, and model, recalls should be issued so affected owners may have these problems corrected at no charge and to prevent injury and or death.

8 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2016

The contact owns a 2006 kia Sedona. The contact stated that the air bag light remained illuminated and the horn stopped working. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

9 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2016

My 2006 kia Sedona airbag light would come on and then go off after driving for a few miles or a couple days and this happened periodically on and off for a couple years. It has now stayed on for the last 4 months. Turned on the van one day and the airbag light never went off. Was sitting in my driveway on a flat surface. My van had a hundred and fifty-one thousand miles on it when the light came on and now has a hundred and fifty-three thousand miles. I bought this as a new van in 2007. It was a left over. I have had to replace the headlight bulbs and turn signal bulbs on the front over 10 times since I've owned it. This also seems to be an issue that people have stated with a 2006 kia Sedona.

10 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

My airbag light has been on for months. Never had an accident of any kind. It won't go out. Looks like a common problem on these 2006 kia's. Reading online that your airbags won't work if the light is on. Not happy about that. Apparently our government is not putting any pressure on kia to do a recall on this! can't afford the high price to get it fixed! will sell the car instead if I have to. Just turned over 100k on it. Figures. Too bad. I really like this car.

11 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

Takata recall my air bag light stays on all the time. . Saw a show last night about the takata air bags exploding not at all sure how long it has been this way so the date below is not accurate it has been a couple years I think. I don't know how many miles but it is 140,000 now.

12 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2015

Front chassis need to be replaced and I change 2 alternator and baterry less dam a year is not safe casue the vehicle shuts down and the pedal brake geta hard to stop the van and the airbag light keep on all the time.

13 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2015

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag wire harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000. Mf.

14 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2015

My airbag light is on like many of the people I have seen complained about. This is a safety issue, I have read people saying it could cost $2000. I do not have that kind of money luckily in the state of pennsylvania your vehicle can still pass inspection of the light is on. But the point is I have family who use my van from time to time and I'm afraid of an accident happening and no airbags. I think it's ridiculous kia won't issue a recall it seems to be a known problem.

15 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2015

After responding to tps code and eventually r/r tps, battery, and alternator, the air bags light remain on. The vehicleaning has not been in any accident.

16 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

2006 kia Sedona with about 80000 miles on it. I have had the vehicle for over 3 years and have never been in an accident. My air bag light is on and it is due to a bad sensor under the seat which is not our fault. At the moment when this light is on no airbags work and this is a family vehicle. Kia needs to pay to fix these problems as they are their fault, there are thousands of people with the same make and model as me with the same issues. Kia needs to make a recall on all 2006 Sedonas and pay for these faulty wires and sensors they installed. I do not have 900 bucks to fix something I did not cause, where are consumers rights!!??.

17 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2014

The contact owns a 2006 kia Sedona. While driving at an unknown speed, the air bag light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure recurred continuously. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.

18 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2014

This vehicle's "airbag" light sensor came on upon starting my vehicle routinely. I was not involved in any accident prior to the light illuminating. I received an estimate of $968. 71 to repair two airbag sensors at the dealership. I then learned that the airbag light once illuminated shuts down the entire airbag system in the vehicle and that there are over 44 registered NHTSA complaints on the 2006 kia Sedona models. I called kia consumer assistance center and was issued a case number. I have allied the assistance center and kia consumer affairs department of the western regional office over two dozen times beginning December 18, 2014 asking why there has not been a service campaign for this vehicle and they said one time that they would not pay for the repair and suggested I call the western regional office which I call daily with no return call from kia's tyrone thomas. Kia consumer assistance has promised me a return phone call daily since December 19, 2015 which I never receive. I am not driving the vehicle since the airbag system is down and renders the van unsafe to drive my family.

19 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2014

The airbag light is illuminated and won't go off. I see that this is an ongoing problem with a multitude of 2006 kia Sedona owners. I am told that this shuts the whole airbag system off until it is corrected and is very expensive to have fixed. As with many others, my young children ride in this car and I don't feel safe. This should be a recall. Please help us. Thank you.

20 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2014

Air bag light illuminated with no accident taking place. I purchased the vehicle new in 2006 and it has never been in an accident. I have called the dealership but they want to charge me $135 just to look at the vehicle. The actual repair would be an additional charge. I called Kia Motor company but they will not take care of the issue at no cost. They say it is out of warranty (which it is) and there is not a recall (which there isn't, yet, but probably should be) so they can not offer to fix the problem at no cost. I understand the air bag system will not function at all if the air bag light is illuminated so now, my wife is driving an unsafe vehicle that is less than 10 years old and just turned over 100,000 miles. I think kia should stand behind the safety system of the vehicle and repair it at no cost to me.

21 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2014

The contact owns a 2006 kia Sedona. The contact stated that the air bag light continuously illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced three sensors to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000.

22 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2014

Side sliding door opens while car is in drive. Luckily I was able to pull over and push it closed, but it scares me when I'm driving and my son is in his car seat and the door chime will go off because the door is opening. This needs to be fixed ASAP. Air bag light is on quite often and had to take to mechanic to see what was wrong.

23 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2014

Air bag light would not shut off. Dealer said that I needed to have seat belt buckle replaced at a cost off $400. Are you kidding me?.

24 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2014

For no reason what so ever, my air bag light came on today and the passenger air bag off light stays on, regardless of if there is someone in the seat. I did have to replace the battery back in January, but I did notice that it did this once before, however shutting it off and restarting it always fixed the problem. There should be a recall on this, from what I'm reading. This is a safety issue.

25 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2014

The air bag light came on at around 80k miles and has stayed on. I have checked the connections beneath the driver and passenger seats; all appear firmly seated. It should also be noted that I had recently replaced the battery before the light came on, a common precursor to this problem if the online forums are any indication. At any rate, this appears to be far too common (and expensive!) an issue among kia owners, to say nothing of its incredible significance as a safety hazard. Kia should issue a recall and fix this manufacturer's defect promptly.

26 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2013

Date and mileage are approximate. Air bag light on dash lit up and stayed on continuously. Because I was ill at the time I was not able to get the vehicle into the dealer until after the 100,000 mile mark. They then told me that a sensor in the front passenger seat was bad, and that I would have to replace the whole seat at a price of $2,000 to correct the problem. In the meantime, they told me that until that sensor was replaced the whole airbag system was non-functional. This is a travesty that a whole safety system can be disabled for want of a 25 cent sensor, and that they can dictate that I need to replace the seat at a price of $2,000 to correct the problem. Where the redundancy in the system? where's the ability to just replace the sensor? my car is barely worth $6,000. I cannot afford a $2,000 seat, but I also cannot afford to be without an airbag system, which I paid dearly for when I bought the vehicle. I think kia is greatly at fault for selling such a poor system, and for failing to correct it. I contacted kia. They did not wish to hear about my problem.

27 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/23/2013

I bought my van in 2012 from modern Toyota in winston salem nc. I have never had a problem. I did have a battery issue and replaced the battery about 4 months ago. All the sudden my airbag light has come on and will not go off. I am concerned because I have three children, and I have heard that the 2006 kia Sedona has these problems with airbag. Is there going to be a recall on it?.

28 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2013

My air bag light came on and has stayed on since then. I have not had the money to have it looked at.

29 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

2006 kia Sedona. Consumer writes in regards to air bag light illuminating. The dealer informed the consumer, with the air bag light on, there was a possibility the air bag(s), may not deploy.

30 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2012

Air bag light came on in dash and will not go off, kia said was problem in one of seat belt sensors, 500. 00 to fix. This is a common problem and should be under recall for safety issue.

31 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2012

Airbag light on without crash or defect in well maintained auto. Apparently this totally inactivates all airbags. Multiple similar complaints in NHTSA system. Needs to be recall, since most owners are unable to afford dealer repairs to this defective system on this model car. Often attributed to defective seatbelt sensors. Hopefully no one will die because of this problem, and kia USA should pay to repair this known defect!.

32 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2012

Shortly after warranty expired (early 2012), the air bag light went on our kia Sedona. I took the van to our local kia dealer to check and they told me that it was the weight classification seat sensor assembly (part 88610 - $1399. 75 at that time) that had to be replaced. After labor cost and taxes it would be $2022!! kia was having some recalls around that time, but none to address this issue. The main reason we bought this van for our family was because of high safety ratings involving all the airbags. Now we are driving without airbags and praying for extra angels around the van when we have to go on the highway. We would like to take long road trips, but that seems too dangerous without airbags. Please investigate and you will find out it is a common issue with this make and model. Kia needs to step it up and fix this issue; lives are at stake. Thank you!.

33 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2011

My airbag light came on & I called my local kia dealer. They told me to make sure nothing was under seats because that could cause it. There was nothing under the seats, however about 25 miles later (when I arrived at work) the light went off. The next day the light came back on & has not gone off since. There are so many complaints about this same thing on this make and model, this should be a recall. It is a safety issue & I shouldn't have to pay $2000 of my money to fix kia's shortfall!!!.

34 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2011

Red air bag light is on. This has happened previously and was reset. I believe that this is a safety issue and should be on the recall list. There are other complaints about the similar problem .

35 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2010

Problems: air bag light on again. Has been repaired by dealer several times. Ac does not blow cold continually and has been repaired several times. New compressor, additional freon, etc. Horn malfunctioning again. Transmission problem - the vehicle "bangs or slams" when you come down a hill to a stop. When slowing down to a stop light it actually has a surge or acceleration. This vehicle only has 64000 on it and the brakes have been serviced several times (front and rear). Now when I am driving I get a terrible grinding feeling - and at a higher speed on the highway when you go to slow down faster it vibrates terribly. Also the braking is terrible at higher speeds. Also had problems with the actuator repair/replaced several times, horn not sounding properly, air bag light (repaired several times), cruise control issues (won't maintain speed - accelerates or decelerates), battery or electrical issues (told to replace battery which I did & paid for), headlight issues (have replaced lights several times), vibration on highway (new tires and tires have been rebalanced. Alignment done). After reviewing multiple websites on kia reviews, these above items are very common experiences for kia Sedona owners. I wanted to make you aware of these items since I feel that if consumers do not notify the authorities nothing will be corrected or known. I have really noticed in the last few months, almost immediately after passing the warranty mark, the vehicle has taken a turn for the worse and problems seem to be escalating.
