After 100,000 miles, the airbag lights turned on and have remained on since then. Around the same time, the tpms lights also turned on and have remained on. My car has not been in any accidents where the airbags were deployed and it was stationary before the sensor turned on. My car was parked in my driveway like any other day when the problem appeared. This is a safety hazard since the airbags will not deploy if I were to get into any accidents due to the sensor being nonfunctional with the light remaining on. I do not know if this is a problem due to the sensor being faulty, airbags being faulty or manufacturing issues. I believe this is a problem that should be fixed and a recall should be implemented to avoid any serious injuries.
January 2007 we purchased a kia Sedona because of the safety features for all passengers, an important feature because I transport children. In April of 2007 we were hit by a Mini van in the front passenger quarter panel. The accident caused thousands of dollars of damage and no airbags deployed, which was a concern. 2016 we were in another accident while turning a corner. This time we were hit in the rear (3rd row) passenger quarter panel by a pick up. We were hit hard enough to push our van into the other lane, ending up jumping a curb & landing in the grass. No air bags deployed, which really upset me! the rear hatch looked like someone had opened it then shut it with a light pole laying across it. Our insurance company totaled the van and asked us to go and get our things out. I put towels on all the seats to keep it clean. The 3rd row seat back (where it was hit) would not move at all and I could not remove the towel from it. The frame of the van had been pushed into the seat! the curtain air bag had not deployed! I called the service department where I purchased it and the manager told me there was not a curtain air bag in my van! after searching the paperwork I received with it, I found that it was supposed to have the curtain air bag covering 2nd & 3rd row seats. I am completely confused and very upset because I normally transport a 18 month old in the 3rd row seat on passenger side! if she had been in her car seat, she would have been hurt badly. Not only because of an air bag failure but glass splinters. I got at least a dozen pieces of glass in my hands, and one took 2 days to get out! I researched to see if there were anymore complaints a out airbag failure and found several. We replaced our vehicle with another make. I sure wish that the kia Sedona would have done what it was supposed to do. And I am hoping that kia corrected the issues.
My airbag light stays on all the time. When I addressed this issue with the kia dealership they said that they would do a diagnostic for $95. My concern is that if I got into an accident my airbag would not deploy. This should be addressed as a safety concern and have kia issue a recall. When I google this problem there are a lot of other kia Sedona owners having the same issue. Some of them have had to pay over $400 to have it fixed. I am a single mother and cannot afford to pay this amount of money to have an airbag fixed, when it should be a recall in the first place.
My air bag light came on, and has stayed on ever since. The dealer wants $100. 00 to check why the light is on. I told them kia should check it for free, because it is a safety issue. They told me kia won't do this. I don't think they care enough about their customers. I am sure they will care, when someone with this issue, gets into an accident, and their air bags do not deploy.
The airbag light illuminates on dash and the passenger airbag light illuminates off when a passenger is seated in the seat. This is a hazard considering the airbag will not deploy in the event of an accident. I had seen that the sorentos and other models has a similar issues and there is a recall to fix the issue which takes less than a minute. Why has kia not provided the same service for the Sedonas. This is an issue the kia has known about and needs to take action before more people get hurt.
Was in a accident struck many trees lots of front end damage, both passenger and drivers side damage and my air bag did not deploy.
My wife was driving our 2006 kia Sedona ex approximately 40 mph when she was in a collision where she rear ended another vehicle. The driver's side airbag did not deploy. Luckily no one was injured, but we are unsure why, at such a speed, no airbags went off.
Our 2006 kia Sedona airbag light on the dashboard came on. A kia dealer diagnostic revealed a $1,850 repair costs to replace the airbag seat sensors. The airbags will not deploy until repaired. Our Sedona has 47,485 miles; 2 months past the warranty. The vehicle has never been in an accident and has been well maintained . This is a safety defect issue and should be covered by kia as a recall; not a warranty issue. We bought this for our family, we have two little children and it scares me to have them in the car.
Our 2006 kia Sedona airbag light on the driver?s dashboard came on. A kia dealer diagnostic revealed a $1,900. 00 in repair costs to replace the airbag seat sensors. The airbags will not deploy until repaired. Our Sedona has 61,000 miles; 1,000 beyond the 60,000 warranty. This renders the safety rating of the kia Sedona useless until repaired and endangers the lives for our precious children to ride in this vehicle. The vehicle has never been in an accident and has been well maintained rigorously following all manufacturer maintenance. This is a safety defect issue and should be covered by kia as a recall; not a warranty issue. Kia corporate declined to cover the costs. The number one reason we purchased the 2006 kia Sedona was the safety rating. Now we are stuck with our precious two little children far from home with a safety dilemma rendered by a manufacture defect that kia will not acknowledge. This has put a young family in a dilemma of how to safely transport our children home and how to pay for a manufacturer defect that is beyond our means. . Read more...
