It happened with in a week after the dealer performed 3 recalls, 2 to correct metal parts from rust from salt and a failing rear heater hose usually the light stays on for 2 to 3 days but this time it has been on for 3 weeks. One time when it was on I took it to the dealer and they said it was a ground problem. This problem started after the dealer took apart the head liner for the 2nd time to repair a leak. When they put the headliner back there were over 10 things they did not put back correctly. From that time on I said I had no faith in the air bags deploying if I would be in a crash. Now that the light is on for over 3 weeks I have to pay to have it fixed as it is now out of warranty. This problem is reported many times on the internet and kia needs to address this problem!.

The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the passenger side air bag sensor was connected to the seat belt, in which the seat belt needed to be replaced. The dealer advised the contact that the passenger side air bag could erroneously deploy at any time without warrant. The failure mileage was 62,000 and the current mileage was 63,000.
The "air bag" warning light came on and the vehicle manual indicated we should take it to a dealer ASAP. The dealer indicated that none of the air bags in the vehicle would deploy when this "air bag" light is on.
