Recall appointment was set with ken ganley kia auto inew port richey , FL. It was set for two weeks out. They told us what the recall was before we got there. They didn’t order the part to fix it. Now it’s been since March 23rd and we have never heard from them. I feel they’ve had ample opportunity to get the part required to fix it. Since this is a safety issue I am very aggravated . On top of that, my husband wasted an entire day and they gave us a $10,000 estimate on a car worth maybe $1000. It is my opinion they have done nothing required by law to fix this. Since it is regarding a safety concern I wanted to report this issue. .

This concerns an unresolved airbag safety issue that went undetected due to a negligent recall inspection at a kia dealership. On March 16, 2026, I brought my vehicle to ed voyles kia of chamblee, GA for a recall inspection to determine whether damaged wiring under the passenger seat was causing my airbag warning light to remain on. I dealt with the service advisor throughout the process. After the appointment, I was told the inspection was complete and no wiring damage was found. Upon leaving the dealership, I immediately noticed that my exterior and interior lights, radio, seatbelt indicators, and numerous other systems had stopped working, none of which were issues before my appointment. I contacted the dealership the same day and returned on March 17, 2026. The service advisor relayed the technician's position that these failures were pre-existing and unrelated to the service. After I pushed back, the manager became involved and pointed to a separate bcm recall to explain the replacement, rather than acknowledging that the bcm had failed immediately after their service. My bcm had been functioning normally before the appointment. The service advisor and manager continued to deny any wiring damage. On April 20, 2026, I personally inspected the area under the passenger seat while cleaning my vehicle I immediately found visibly damaged wires, the exact area the technician had examined during the recall. I found this damage within minutes. The damaged wiring under the passenger seat is the very issue this recall was designed to identify. The technician failed to find it, leaving a known safety hazard unresolved. My airbag warning light has been on since before the appointment and remains on today. I have been driving my family in this vehicle with a compromised airbag system. I have photo evidence of the damaged wires and request that NHTSA log this as a formal safety complaint and investigate if this reflects a broader pattern of incomplete recall inspections.

The contact owns a 2019 kia Sedona. The contact stated that while driving at 20 mph, the vehicle was suddenly rear-ended when the other vehicle failed to stop. As a result, the vehicle was pushed into the vehicle in front. The driver-side and passenger-side air bags did not deploy. After the impact, the contact was unsure if any warning lights were illuminated. A police report was filed. The paramedics evaluated everyone at the scene of the accident. The contact and his family were not injured. The vehicle was towed to a towing yard. A lawyer was contacted, and the lawyer would inform the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

My 2016 kia Sedona is affected by safety recall sc175 (front passenger seat occupant detection system wiring harness), documented here: [xxx] . Kia and the servicing dealer, rick case kia, report to NHTSA that this recall was completed in 2019. However, the defect described in sc175 is still present and easily reproducible. The dealer continues to insist the repair was completed, but the symptoms match the recall description exactly and the issue now poses a clear safety risk to the front passenger. I have repeatedly informed rick case kia that the recall was not performed correctly or was never performed at all. Despite this, the dealer refuses to inspect or correct the issue and kia corporate refuses further action based solely on the dealer’s claim. This has made it impossible for me to obtain the required recall remedy. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer multiple times between 2019 and before the vehicle reached 10 years of age for other safety recalls. If sc175 had truly been completed, the issue should not be present. If it had not been completed, the dealer should have been notified in their system during those visits. This suggests that misrepresentation or incorrect reporting may have occurred. Because kia corporate relies entirely on the dealer’s incorrect reporting, I cannot obtain the required repair from any kia dealer, and the safety defect remains unresolved. I am requesting NHTSA review this case as a potential recall-completion misrepresentation that is preventing me from receiving the mandated safety repair. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I am filing a formal complaint against kia regarding recall sc175 affecting this vehicle kia has refused to perform this recall on my vehicle, claiming that the work was already completed. However, after reviewing the official campaign documentation (NHTSA campaign documentation – sc175), it is evident that the corrective work specified by the recall was not performed on my vehicle. My vehicle continues to exhibit the issue addressed by recall sc175, confirming that either the recall was not carried out or was performed incorrectly. Despite this, kia maintains that no further action is necessary because their records indicate completion. At this time, kia is refusing to address a known safety recall. I am documenting this with NHTSA so that it is formally recorded that kia is declining to remedy a required recall on one of their vehicles. Please advise on what steps I may take next to ensure compliance and resolution.
The contact owns a 2016 kia Sedona. The contact stated that after purchasing the vehicle from the dealer, the air bag warning light illuminated while driving, and the front passenger’s seat detection system failed to detect a passenger. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle had previously been repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 19v109000 (electrical system). The contact was also informed that a diagnostic test was needed to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 300,000.
My vehicle has a recall 19v109000. The description of the issue is "over time, the occupant detection system (ods) wiring harness located underneath the front passenger seat may break from the seat being occupied. " this issue has been diagnosed as having this very specific problem, kia claims that this problem was previously fixed in my car, however it has not been fixed. I have been trying for sometime to get kia and my local kia dealer to fix it but they just keep responding that this was already fixed. A closer look and its obvious this was never done. I don't have the exact date of when I first noticed it, the harness is damaged and the issue goes away from time to time, and my attempts to fix it have gone back a couple of years, and have gotten nowhere when trying to work with kia.
I have a 2016 kia Sedona. Engines on the vehicle have been known to be bad and I already had 1 engine replaced under their extended warranty that covers to 150000 miles after a blown head gasket. I got a new engine 11/2024 however car overheats & coolant leak everywhere&bust hoses. I was told to replace radiator and all cooling/heater hoses, but video show coolant bubbling car still overheating. Replaced one loose hose under warranty. Car overheats again was told to replace relay switch for fan another. Dealer crash my car waited a month for parts and they never repaired damages to my bumper and airbag light. 2 month later car overheats again now coolant spraying into trunk and hose pop again now at heater core. There is no light notice of when car overheating tiil very hot. Or someone tells me my car is smoking by then it is followed by a loud noise and coolant leaking everywhere again. This time the overheating bust the heater core hose in my trunk and was spraying coolant all in trunk while I was getting ready to get of freeway. Very scary. I pulled over just in time for noise and coolant to leak out everything from resovoir again. This is my family car and have 5 kids under 18 and feel very unsafe now. Despite paying for everything kia suggest every 1-2 months they still fail to find cause of overheating and constant hoses breaking or coming loose after the pressure build up and I am scared this car will catch fire or stall one day with my children in car. Already noticed sometime its like car struggles to accelerate despite a supposed new engine but car been constantly overheating even after engine replacement and it also still causes sludge in hose& had 4 coolant flushes in a year and new hoses and now seems people working on car not sure what they doing because I was told I needed new heater hoses 2months later they didn't know my heater core was at back car so didn't replace so this hose burst despite kia recommendation to replace. Please help b4 it too late.
I was in a car wreck and my air bags did not deploy and my seat belt did not lock. The other vehicle involved in the car accident immediately deployed its airbags. I did not ask for an ambulance because I do not know if my insurance covers it so I went personally to the emergency room after the accident.

I was driving at approximately 20-25 mph when both side curtain airbags deployed. There was no collision or sudden stops. There were no warning lights or symptoms before or after the incident. My battery had been replaced at a local shop 4-5 hours prior to the incident. My child was in the car in her car seat and appears to have no apparent issues following the event. The hearing in my left ear is deteriorated and I have a ringing sound and it makes a distortion sound when the noise levels reach a certain level.

Since shortly after buying the van we have been getting airbag warning lights. Just about every part of the system has been replaced, but the airbag light still comes back on. Just got the van back from the dealer today for the 9th time, and after about an hour of driving, the light is back on again.

Side impact airbag didn't deploy causing head injury to driver. Van was hit at high speed by impaired driver who ran a red light. Van has hit from the driver's side in the engine compartment just in front of the driver. The engine was basically laying in the street after the impact.
Airbag warning light repeatedly coming on. First time told harness under seat problem paid then reimbursed as recall. Year later on again dealer took care unknown fix. During may of this year same airbag light on when took in for oil change and asked if could fix seat thing again. I'm very short rest of drivers tall so seat moved positions farthest forward to farthest back. Told must make diagnostic appointment earliest February. Today told front passenger side air bag needs to be replaced. Our minivan carries whole family and never in accident but needs new airbag would of replaced sooner if realized not harness but airbag not working! van has 76,121miles think component should last longer and still work! paying as told no recall! dangerous to have light for other than airbag. Reported kia manufacturing. Use dealer valley kia, 16272 s. Highland, fontana, CA today invoice #6174973/1. Awaiting part to fix.
The contact owns a 2017 kia Sedona. The contact stated that upon start of the vehicle, the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where a diagnostic test was performed, and the dealer discovered that the front passenger's side air bag module was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 22v031000 (air bags). The dealer acknowledged the recall but informed the contact that the repair would be an out-of-pocket expense. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

My airbag light went on, without it having been deployed at all. I took it to the dealership and they said there was a problem with the circuitry in which they couldn't guarantee that it would deploy in a possible accident. I also noticed that there is a recall out for some vehicles of my same make/model/year with an airbag recall out that mentions this same exact problem, except that my vehicle VIN number doesn't come up as it being a problem, so the dealership will not fix the problem unless I pay for it.
The contact owns a 2017 kia Sedona. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, there were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where the recall repair of NHTSA campaign number: 22v031000 (air bags) was completed; however, the failure persisted. The dealer diagnosed that the front passenger's side air bag module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
I have the air bag indicator light and the diagnostic codes consistent with NHTSA campaign number 19v109, kia recall number sc175. The recall mentions the wiring harness being damaged and my harness is damaged, with two wires severed. However, because my vehicle was manufactured 2 months after the recall cutoff date, kia believes this recall does not pertain to my vehicle. I believe otherwise.
* the red airbag dash light comes on only when there is a passenger in the front passenger seat. The "off" light by the passenger air bag sign goes off like it should, symbolizing the airbag is turned in. However, the light on the dash coming on has me worried it is defective. The passenger airbag does not deploy if needed, that could risk serious injury or death. *this van was sold to us two day ago by a kia dealership who said it passed all safety inspections. However, since the light only comes on when there is a front passenger, I'm sure it was overlooked. *I am in contact with the dealership we purchased it from. I have not heard back yet. Warning light came on the first time I had a passenger in the vehicle after purchasing it.
Hello NHTSA representative, the dealership lupient kia in glendale, WI closed the recall campaign sc175 and the action required was not performed. The kia customer care closed the case 15510583 without explanation and when contacted opening a different one 15502908 mentioned that the car is out of warranty and they do not care any more. I am looking for your support to get kia reviewed this anomaly in this dealership and obviously leave a precedent ahead of repairing the vehicle as the diagnosis of the failure cost 295usd plus the repair. According to the safety recall campaign under number sc175 (rev 1 03/20/2019) for kia Sedona, that can be consulted in https://static. Nhtsa. Gov/odi/rcl/2019/rcrit-19v109-3930. Pdf, the clip should have been cut during the recall but the clip is still present and there is an error and a broken harness in my vehicle. See picture as evidence that the clip was not removed according to the instructions at the kia dealership. The safety recall states on step 3 to "carefully detach the ods connector retaining clip (b) closest to the ods connector. " and on step 4 to "carefully cut the retaining clip between the wiring harness and the clip head (c) using side-cutter pliers and discard the clip head. Allow the wiring harness to move freely. Do not replace the retaining clip or secure the harness. " as you can see in the attached picture the clip is uncut. In case during the previous safety recall the seat was changed, the statement for the clip is equivalent that it should not be present per the same safety recall. Regards,.
I have a 2015 season kia. I have a security problem. The passenger seat does not see a person, the sensor is faulty.
Please do recall on this 2014 kia Sedona, only 53,000 miles, for bad airbag system 2014 kia airbag light on instr panel comes on, then off, then stays on. I took it to kia dealer and they said it was the OCS (passenger occupant sensor) in the seat, but when I sit in the drivers seat and with both seatbelts latched, I can press down on pass seat and the passenger airbag off light on the middle dash next to clock goes off (doesn't this say the sensor mat in the seat "is" working ? ). . . I wondering if they mis-diagnosed it. Any ideas how to get the instr airbag light to go off ? I checked 2 airbag fuses under dash, both good. Interestingly around the same time as the instru airbag light started staying on, the 2nd cigarette light blew a fuse (related? ) . . . Thanks if you can please text me when any answer is posted 386 837 - 9455. . . Thx or email me so I know to check. Dealer said $1,000 to fix it ??.

I was driving my 2015 kia Sedona and the airbags imploded out of nowhere, I was not hurt thank god. But my front of my car got damaged and so did the air bags and my steering wheel and all that got broken. I am writing to see if I can be reimbursed as I have fix these issues but I believe they hav to do with a recall kia has. I spent a lot of money fixing it so I would like to get reimbured as I paid outa pocket for something that was a recall and a safety problem and could have been avoided. Please help me.
My daughter was driving my kia Sedona van - distracted and on wet roads ran into a firehydrant and pole. During the accident, the air bags did not employ. The passenger fell forward and broke the windshield with her head, leading to a concucussion. We are thankful for two children who are alive after this accident. We are disappointed tho that the airbags didnt protect our child more.
1)the airbags failed at time of accident, yes is available for inspection. 2)this is a family car (kia Sedona 2016) with kids in the car . . If the airbags not working at time of an impact, could and up in deadly/fatality accident. 3) no. 4)the vehicle has been inspected by police and insurance. 5) no warning or issues show anywhere to advise of issue, this car has not been involve in any accident before. Last time took the car to dealer was 1 month ago… November 2022.
I went to the dealership to get the air bag recall update and now the light started coming on and off the past couple weeks. And is on every time I start the vehicle. I have little ones and need to get this fixed.
I purchased this van pre-owned from bridgewater kia in NJ with an extended warranty in 2018. There was a recent safety recall for airbags and the airbag warning light was on. I brought the car into bridgewater kia on July 18, 2022 and was told that the passenger front airbag module needed to be replaced and that it was not part of the recall. I was also told that this defect shuts down all of the airbags in the vehicle. There are no airbags working in this vehicle. I was also told by bridgewater kia that (1) the passenger airbag module was back ordered and coming from another country so they do not know when it will arrive; (2) that I would have to pay $1,161. 73 upfront before they would even order it; (3) they would not provide me with a loaner car; (4) that the airbag was not covered by the extended warranty I purchased from bridgewater kia because that warranty ended at 100,000 and we have 101,263 miles on the van and, (5) that I should not drive the car because it is unsafe. This is absurd. An airbag module is not something the owner of the vehicle can maintain. Moreover, the van is only approximately 5 years old and basically designed for people with children. On one hand the dealer is telling me not to drive it because it's unsafe, but I guess expects me, in this economy, to go rent a car indefinitely while we wait from an International shipment? it's not possible for me not to drive the van. This is a major safety problem that involves children that kia should repair free of charge. They should also provide their customers with a safe means of transportation. They can't delegate airbags to the consumer and it's hard to believe that I am the only one experiencing this. I also want to let you know I have contacted kia directly out in California and I'm waiting for a call back. I waited because it's only today that I was able to confirm with the dealer that the so-called warranty is useless.
In 2022, our airbag light came on. On 5/10/2022 am airbag recall was issued and it was fixed. The airbag computer/module was fixed. We got into an accident in August of 2022, and our airbags never went off. And the airbag light has never shut off since it was “fixed” may 2022. It’s now October 2025. They said nothing was wrong with it, after bringing the vehicle in multiple times. And now after bringing it in, again in August 2025, they said the entire passenger airbag unit needs to be replace and isn’t related to the airbag recall. It’s $800+ and kia won’t do it since the warranty has expired and it’s “not related”. Still fighting with them over it. As the airbags recall in 2022 included a defect where the airbag control unit (acu) cover can contact a memory chip, potentially deactivating the airbags. This issue affects a range of models manufactured between July 2016 and January 2019 and can result in the airbags failing to deploy in an accident. Worst customer service and vehicle I’ve ever owned.

In December 2021, I reported an issue with the driver-side airbag light being on that has yet to be addressed even after working with kia customer service. In January 2022, the passenger side airbag light is blinking. This has been reported to kia as well.
2015 kia Sedona driver's side airbag light is on intermittently. Dealer states airbag under seat is malfunctioning and cost to replace is greater than $1000. Vehicle has not been involved in an accident and this is original equipment. This is a safety risk because the airbag may not function properly in the event of a crash.
I was involved in an auto accident on September 28, 2021 which totalled my 2014 kia Sedona. The crash was severe and was a front impact accident which spun the van 45 degrees and into a tree branch. None of the airbags on the vehicle deployed. The vehicle is not available for inspection. There were no airbag recalls or warning lights prior to this incident.
