While driving around a corner doing 25 mph, on a back road that was dry, I corrected the steering to the left out of the curve and the steering continued to pull to the right and would not correct. Vehicle went down a 20 foot embankment and struck a tree head on. The airbags did not deploy in the collision and the engine did not shut off. I sustained serious injuries, resulting in 4 months of missed work and a double discectomy to repair two severely herniated discs. Until my surgery I was in a wheelchair from these injuries, as my spinal cord was compressed by the discs in my neck. The kia service department and the customer relations hotline will not speak to me regarding the safety features other than to say there has not been a recall. It is my understanding that the airbags should deploy from a full front impact going a speed of at least 25mph (as there was downward momentum at that point) however the auto body repair shop that our insurance company assigned us to says the airbags are not designed to deploy in such an accident. As I cannot get an answer from kia as to whether this has merit, I am left driving a vehicle that I am unsure is safe.

My air bag indicator light came on and does not reset. The passenger side air bag light in not showing the passenger air bag is off. According to the vehicles manuel this we may have a passenger air bag deploy when it should be off and the drivers side air bag will not deploy when it should. This is a very serious problem and during my research found at least 50+ kia owners with this problem. Please check this out and have kia repair these vehicles under a recall notice. I believe my warranty is still valid but not sure kia will fix this without prodding. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Air bag light comes on and off frequently with no explanation as to why. The passenger seat belt light blinks on and off with no passenger and nothing in the seat. This happens while driving the vehicle or at start up of the vehicle the lights may stay on. I fear that if needed my airbags may not deploy properly.

The contact owns a 2007 kia Sedona. While driving 65 mph, another vehicle collided with the front passenger side of the contact's son's vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. Prior to the crash, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The contact's son was able to drive the vehicle home. The vehicle was not inspected by an independent mechanic or dealer to determine the cause of the air bag failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to call a local dealer. The contact stated that an appointment was scheduled with clay cooley kia (1600 e airport fwy, irving, TX 75062 (469) 908-0002). The failure mileage was unknown.

After 100,000 miles, the airbag lights turned on and have remained on since then. Around the same time, the tpms lights also turned on and have remained on. My car has not been in any accidents where the airbags were deployed and it was stationary before the sensor turned on. My car was parked in my driveway like any other day when the problem appeared. This is a safety hazard since the airbags will not deploy if I were to get into any accidents due to the sensor being nonfunctional with the light remaining on. I do not know if this is a problem due to the sensor being faulty, airbags being faulty or manufacturing issues. I believe this is a problem that should be fixed and a recall should be implemented to avoid any serious injuries.

The contact rented a 2017 (na) kia Sedona. While driving approximately 35 mph, the contact rear eneded the preceding vehicle. The frontal air bags did not deploy and the seat belt did not restrain the driver. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a private impound lot and was not drivable. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 7,609.
January 2007 we purchased a kia Sedona because of the safety features for all passengers, an important feature because I transport children. In April of 2007 we were hit by a Mini van in the front passenger quarter panel. The accident caused thousands of dollars of damage and no airbags deployed, which was a concern. 2016 we were in another accident while turning a corner. This time we were hit in the rear (3rd row) passenger quarter panel by a pick up. We were hit hard enough to push our van into the other lane, ending up jumping a curb & landing in the grass. No air bags deployed, which really upset me! the rear hatch looked like someone had opened it then shut it with a light pole laying across it. Our insurance company totaled the van and asked us to go and get our things out. I put towels on all the seats to keep it clean. The 3rd row seat back (where it was hit) would not move at all and I could not remove the towel from it. The frame of the van had been pushed into the seat! the curtain air bag had not deployed! I called the service department where I purchased it and the manager told me there was not a curtain air bag in my van! after searching the paperwork I received with it, I found that it was supposed to have the curtain air bag covering 2nd & 3rd row seats. I am completely confused and very upset because I normally transport a 18 month old in the 3rd row seat on passenger side! if she had been in her car seat, she would have been hurt badly. Not only because of an air bag failure but glass splinters. I got at least a dozen pieces of glass in my hands, and one took 2 days to get out! I researched to see if there were anymore complaints a out airbag failure and found several. We replaced our vehicle with another make. I sure wish that the kia Sedona would have done what it was supposed to do. And I am hoping that kia corrected the issues.
The air bag indicator light is on, and I'm told by kia that the weight sensor for one seat is not functioning, which means air bags will not deploy. This is a substantial cost to fix of approximately $1,600. 00, however, this light has been on for some time and I feel that it is likely a defect in the sensor, electrical components, or air bag that may be impacting other kia owners.

My airbag light stays on all the time. When I addressed this issue with the kia dealership they said that they would do a diagnostic for $95. My concern is that if I got into an accident my airbag would not deploy. This should be addressed as a safety concern and have kia issue a recall. When I google this problem there are a lot of other kia Sedona owners having the same issue. Some of them have had to pay over $400 to have it fixed. I am a single mother and cannot afford to pay this amount of money to have an airbag fixed, when it should be a recall in the first place.

My air bag light came on, and has stayed on ever since. The dealer wants $100. 00 to check why the light is on. I told them kia should check it for free, because it is a safety issue. They told me kia won't do this. I don't think they care enough about their customers. I am sure they will care, when someone with this issue, gets into an accident, and their air bags do not deploy.

The airbag light illuminates on dash and the passenger airbag light illuminates off when a passenger is seated in the seat. This is a hazard considering the airbag will not deploy in the event of an accident. I had seen that the sorentos and other models has a similar issues and there is a recall to fix the issue which takes less than a minute. Why has kia not provided the same service for the Sedonas. This is an issue the kia has known about and needs to take action before more people get hurt.
Airbag light was illuminating intermittently - took to dealership for diagnostic in 2010. Kia dealership in turnersville said that light illuminating was normal and no issue. I recently had timing chain replaced by same dealership - different tech. This time they said that the light meant the airbags would not deploy in an accident! they said repairs would not be covered! I am furious.
Was in a accident struck many trees lots of front end damage, both passenger and drivers side damage and my air bag did not deploy.

My wife was driving our 2006 kia Sedona ex approximately 40 mph when she was in a collision where she rear ended another vehicle. The driver's side airbag did not deploy. Luckily no one was injured, but we are unsure why, at such a speed, no airbags went off.
Our 2006 kia Sedona airbag light on the dashboard came on. A kia dealer diagnostic revealed a $1,850 repair costs to replace the airbag seat sensors. The airbags will not deploy until repaired. Our Sedona has 47,485 miles; 2 months past the warranty. The vehicle has never been in an accident and has been well maintained . This is a safety defect issue and should be covered by kia as a recall; not a warranty issue. We bought this for our family, we have two little children and it scares me to have them in the car.
Our 2006 kia Sedona airbag light on the driver?s dashboard came on. A kia dealer diagnostic revealed a $1,900. 00 in repair costs to replace the airbag seat sensors. The airbags will not deploy until repaired. Our Sedona has 61,000 miles; 1,000 beyond the 60,000 warranty. This renders the safety rating of the kia Sedona useless until repaired and endangers the lives for our precious children to ride in this vehicle. The vehicle has never been in an accident and has been well maintained rigorously following all manufacturer maintenance. This is a safety defect issue and should be covered by kia as a recall; not a warranty issue. Kia corporate declined to cover the costs. The number one reason we purchased the 2006 kia Sedona was the safety rating. Now we are stuck with our precious two little children far from home with a safety dilemma rendered by a manufacture defect that kia will not acknowledge. This has put a young family in a dilemma of how to safely transport our children home and how to pay for a manufacturer defect that is beyond our means. . Read more...

Air bags failed to deploy and in my 2003 kia Sedona van accident, I was almost killed. I am still under the care of several doctors because of problems which developed from the accident. This has become a huge financial burden due to numerous medical bills. I can obtain a copy of the accident report if you would like to have it. I think kia should have to assume the responsibility for huge amounts of medical bills since safety equipment apparently did not work properly. I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you for your time. Betty dickerson.

The air bag did not deploy in our 2002 kia Sedona.
I bought my very first new vehicle in sept 2005, and had my first auto accident less than six weeks later. I was on my way to work on Friday, oct 28, 2005. I came upon a vehicle stopped in my lane. I put the brakes on, and left a small skid mark. I had plenty of room to stop my vehicle, but was unable to. Once I pressed the brakes, I realized I wasn't slowing down and pressed harder on them. There was some jerking and it felt like I was hopping up the road. My vehicle never slowed down at all. Needless to say, I crashed into the rear end of the stopped car. It caused major damage to my front end, and damage to the back of the other vehicle. Also, my airbag did not deploy. My vehicle is currently at the body shop waiting to be looked at, but they are estimating the cost at $8,000 or more in damage. I really feel angry about this because I am a cautious driver, and I feel this accident was not my fault. I feel the brakes on my van did not function properly.
A front end impact at 45 mph and the airbag did not deploy.
