We purchased brand new a 2016 kia Sedona from the dealership. Within the 2 years we owned it we had to take it into the dealership four times because the airbag light would come on and stay on, or would flicker off and one as I was driving down the road. They found it to be an issue with the passenger airbag. They repaired it the first three times and the light would stay off for a while. The fourth time we took it in they said they were going to try replacing the whole seat to see if that helped. We decided that we didn't want to risk it happening again as the van was less than 2,000 miles from being out of warranty. So, we traded it in for a 2018 kia Sedona which now, at 1400 miles, has the same issue! we have already taken it in twice to the have issue repaired. What are the odds of having the exact same issue?.

Tl the contact owns a 2012 kia Sedona. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator had been permanently illuminated since March of 2018. The vehicle was taken to grand staff kia (3608 bristol highway, johnson city, TN 37601) where it was diagnosed that the seat sensor caused the failure, which was not part of NHTSA campaign number: 18v363000 (air bags). The contact received notification of the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

Tl the contact owns a 2015 kia Sedona. The contact stated that the air bag indicator illuminated and the air bags were disabled from a sensor located under the front passenger seat. Kia of south austin (5306 s ih 35 frontage rd, austin, TX 78745, (512) 444-6635) quoted that the repair would cost over $1,000 and the vehicle was not included in a recall. The manufacturer agreed to split the repair cost. The manufacturer paid for the parts and the contact paid for the labor. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign number: 19v109000 (electrical system) that offered reimbursement for previous repairs. The dealer stated that the part was fine and no repairs were needed. The contact submitted a request for reimbursement, but was denied six weeks later. The failure mileage was 71,718.
Air bag light has gone on and stays on when the car is on.

Air bag light is on and wont go off. It used to come on occasionally but it just started to be on constantly recently. Also the passenger air bag is stuck on. Its supposed to light up off when no one is seated. Now the seat belt light flashes as if someone is seated there. This is ridiculous. This is a huge safety risk.
After a few years of owning the van my battery died. I replaced the battery but because of the low battery voltage it caused the airbag light to illuminate [code: "b1102-ub (vb ?) low voltage (<8v)"]. When the is light on none of the airbags will function in an accident. Even though there is nothing wrong with the system, the light can only be shut off (and thus make the airbags functional) by clearing the code with a special reader that only the dealerships appear to have. The dealership will only do this if you pay $280. This is outrageous, there's no reason the airbag system shouldn't function after the code has been resolved. I feel like this is extortion from kia. The federal government mandates that cars have to have airbags you would expect that they would be required to work if there is nothing wrong with the system.
Problem #1. At approximately 111,000 miles my Sedona's airbag light illuminated on my dash panel. . . And has stayed illuminated ever since. There was no accident or incident to provoke this light to illuminate. Kia of dartmouth (MA) said it's a drivers side seatbelt sensor that is "bad". Cost to repair $274. 80! why is a "bad" sensor not the responsibility of the manufacturer? it's faulty. There was no misuse or abuse by the consumer, in other words, why is there no recall on this item? problem #2. At approximately 108,000 my Sedona's tpms light and ( ! ) lights illuminated on my dash panel. . . And have stayed illuminated since. The tires are inflated to manufacture's specifications so there is no chance that the tires are under or over inflated. Again, there is a "bad" sensor(s). Why isn't there a recall on these faulty sensors?.
Airbag light came on and lookes like the sterring wheel airbag almost came out.
Went to auto parts store for oil filter - parked car. After filter purchase left store, tossed oil filter (fram tg9999) on passenger seat and started car; air bag light lit for the first time ever; no air bags were deployed. The vehicle (2006 Sedona) has never been in an accident. The vehicle has 150052 miles on it and runs well. Contacted kia about issue to see if there was a recall for air bag issues - was informed that there was no recall and told that vehicle is out of warranty having more than 100k miles, so I would have to have this serviced by a kia dealer. Date below approx.
This vehicle has 65,000 miles on it and yesterday I did the third break job this van has had. No vehicle should go through breaks as fast as this one does. On top of that, my airbag light has been on since 20,000 miles and all kia dealers I have brought this van to refuses to look into it. Now that I am no longer under warranty with kia I plan on bringing it to another shop.
This complaint is regarding a single-owner 2006 kia Sedona. Since 2006 I have had numerous electrical related problems. Over half the buttons and knobs on the stock cd player/radio have not worked for approximately eight years. I am having to replace headlight and turn signal bulbs every few months. The airbag indicator light is illuminated and will not shut off. I have not been involved in any accidents (yet) and would expect my airbags to deploy if and when necessary. My understanding is that the airbags will not function if the indicator light is illuminated. This is a major safety concern, as this is a family vehicle and I have three small children, and I take frequent road trips due to my job. As far as I know, there are no recalls associated with the airbag or electrical/lighting system for this vehicle. Based on my research of complaints associated with this vehicle year, make, and model, recalls should be issued so affected owners may have these problems corrected at no charge and to prevent injury and or death.
The contact owns a 2006 kia Sedona. The contact stated that the air bag light remained illuminated and the horn stopped working. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
My 2006 kia Sedona airbag light would come on and then go off after driving for a few miles or a couple days and this happened periodically on and off for a couple years. It has now stayed on for the last 4 months. Turned on the van one day and the airbag light never went off. Was sitting in my driveway on a flat surface. My van had a hundred and fifty-one thousand miles on it when the light came on and now has a hundred and fifty-three thousand miles. I bought this as a new van in 2007. It was a left over. I have had to replace the headlight bulbs and turn signal bulbs on the front over 10 times since I've owned it. This also seems to be an issue that people have stated with a 2006 kia Sedona.
My airbag light has been on for months. Never had an accident of any kind. It won't go out. Looks like a common problem on these 2006 kia's. Reading online that your airbags won't work if the light is on. Not happy about that. Apparently our government is not putting any pressure on kia to do a recall on this! can't afford the high price to get it fixed! will sell the car instead if I have to. Just turned over 100k on it. Figures. Too bad. I really like this car.
Both my passenger and driver side air bag lights are on. I took the car apx. 1 1/2 - 2 years ago about the driver air bag light on and the kia dealership said it was fixed. It came back on about 2 months later. I am now being told I have to replace a sensor on the passenger side in the seat to fix the passenger side and a sensor in the seatbelt to fix the driver side. This is an ongoing issue.

Takata recall my air bag light stays on all the time. . Saw a show last night about the takata air bags exploding not at all sure how long it has been this way so the date below is not accurate it has been a couple years I think. I don't know how many miles but it is 140,000 now.
Front chassis need to be replaced and I change 2 alternator and baterry less dam a year is not safe casue the vehicle shuts down and the pedal brake geta hard to stop the van and the airbag light keep on all the time.
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 kia Sedona. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated continuously. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag wire harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000. Mf.
My airbag light is on like many of the people I have seen complained about. This is a safety issue, I have read people saying it could cost $2000. I do not have that kind of money luckily in the state of pennsylvania your vehicle can still pass inspection of the light is on. But the point is I have family who use my van from time to time and I'm afraid of an accident happening and no airbags. I think it's ridiculous kia won't issue a recall it seems to be a known problem.
After responding to tps code and eventually r/r tps, battery, and alternator, the air bags light remain on. The vehicleaning has not been in any accident.
2006 kia Sedona with about 80000 miles on it. I have had the vehicle for over 3 years and have never been in an accident. My air bag light is on and it is due to a bad sensor under the seat which is not our fault. At the moment when this light is on no airbags work and this is a family vehicle. Kia needs to pay to fix these problems as they are their fault, there are thousands of people with the same make and model as me with the same issues. Kia needs to make a recall on all 2006 Sedonas and pay for these faulty wires and sensors they installed. I do not have 900 bucks to fix something I did not cause, where are consumers rights!!??.
The air bag light cam on and is still on. This air bag needs to be replaced.

Tl-the contact owns a 2003 kia Sedona. The contact stated that while in park, when the vehicle is started, the airbag light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer, however the problem recurred. The failure mileage was 132,000. Ed.
The contact owns a 2006 kia Sedona. While driving at an unknown speed, the air bag light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure recurred continuously. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.
This vehicle's "airbag" light sensor came on upon starting my vehicle routinely. I was not involved in any accident prior to the light illuminating. I received an estimate of $968. 71 to repair two airbag sensors at the dealership. I then learned that the airbag light once illuminated shuts down the entire airbag system in the vehicle and that there are over 44 registered NHTSA complaints on the 2006 kia Sedona models. I called kia consumer assistance center and was issued a case number. I have allied the assistance center and kia consumer affairs department of the western regional office over two dozen times beginning December 18, 2014 asking why there has not been a service campaign for this vehicle and they said one time that they would not pay for the repair and suggested I call the western regional office which I call daily with no return call from kia's tyrone thomas. Kia consumer assistance has promised me a return phone call daily since December 19, 2015 which I never receive. I am not driving the vehicle since the airbag system is down and renders the van unsafe to drive my family.
The airbag light is illuminated and won't go off. I see that this is an ongoing problem with a multitude of 2006 kia Sedona owners. I am told that this shuts the whole airbag system off until it is corrected and is very expensive to have fixed. As with many others, my young children ride in this car and I don't feel safe. This should be a recall. Please help us. Thank you.
Air bag light illuminated with no accident taking place. I purchased the vehicle new in 2006 and it has never been in an accident. I have called the dealership but they want to charge me $135 just to look at the vehicle. The actual repair would be an additional charge. I called Kia Motor company but they will not take care of the issue at no cost. They say it is out of warranty (which it is) and there is not a recall (which there isn't, yet, but probably should be) so they can not offer to fix the problem at no cost. I understand the air bag system will not function at all if the air bag light is illuminated so now, my wife is driving an unsafe vehicle that is less than 10 years old and just turned over 100,000 miles. I think kia should stand behind the safety system of the vehicle and repair it at no cost to me.
First, the air bag light for driver stays on, then cruise control quit working, now the horn quit working. I took it to a garage and was told it was a faulty clock spring. I looked up and see that other models of kia's have been recalled for faulty clock springs; but not the Sedona. I believe this model should also be recalled as it is a safety hazard not to have a working air bag and horn. I was told by two different garages that it will cost $350 to replace the clock spring. I cannot afford to fix this so I will drive with no horn or air bag. If I should be injured or die in a crash due to either of these items not working I have instructed my wife and children to sue kia for not recalling all the clock springs, when its obvious that more models have problems than what has been recalled.
