Side sliding door opens while car is in drive. Luckily I was able to pull over and push it closed, but it scares me when I'm driving and my son is in his car seat and the door chime will go off because the door is opening. This needs to be fixed ASAP. Air bag light is on quite often and had to take to mechanic to see what was wrong.
Air bag light would not shut off. Dealer said that I needed to have seat belt buckle replaced at a cost off $400. Are you kidding me?.
For no reason what so ever, my air bag light came on today and the passenger air bag off light stays on, regardless of if there is someone in the seat. I did have to replace the battery back in January, but I did notice that it did this once before, however shutting it off and restarting it always fixed the problem. There should be a recall on this, from what I'm reading. This is a safety issue.
The air bag light came on at around 80k miles and has stayed on. I have checked the connections beneath the driver and passenger seats; all appear firmly seated. It should also be noted that I had recently replaced the battery before the light came on, a common precursor to this problem if the online forums are any indication. At any rate, this appears to be far too common (and expensive!) an issue among kia owners, to say nothing of its incredible significance as a safety hazard. Kia should issue a recall and fix this manufacturer's defect promptly.
I bought a used 2003 kia Sedona with 136000 miles. The day after purchasing the vehicle, the srs indicator light started staying lit on the dash. My mechanic found that the code was b1513, which indicated a problem with the passenger seat belt buckle (female end). They ordered that part new from kia and replaced it (for a cost of $238). The indicator light did not display for about three weeks when it went on again. This time, the codes were b1511 and b1513, which indicates problems with both the diver and passenger buckles. My mechanic believes it is a wiring issue, and at this point we are not replacing the seatbelts, because I have no way of knowing that it would really resolve the issue. The cost to replace the srs wiring is prohibitive (over $1000). I feel very unsafe in this vehicle, as no one can say for sure that my airbags will still deploy in case of an accident. It is very disappointing because the vehicle still drives very well. Kia should be more proactive about replacing/repairing faulty srs components, even in older vehicles.

Date and mileage are approximate. Air bag light on dash lit up and stayed on continuously. Because I was ill at the time I was not able to get the vehicle into the dealer until after the 100,000 mile mark. They then told me that a sensor in the front passenger seat was bad, and that I would have to replace the whole seat at a price of $2,000 to correct the problem. In the meantime, they told me that until that sensor was replaced the whole airbag system was non-functional. This is a travesty that a whole safety system can be disabled for want of a 25 cent sensor, and that they can dictate that I need to replace the seat at a price of $2,000 to correct the problem. Where the redundancy in the system? where's the ability to just replace the sensor? my car is barely worth $6,000. I cannot afford a $2,000 seat, but I also cannot afford to be without an airbag system, which I paid dearly for when I bought the vehicle. I think kia is greatly at fault for selling such a poor system, and for failing to correct it. I contacted kia. They did not wish to hear about my problem.
I bought my van in 2012 from modern Toyota in winston salem nc. I have never had a problem. I did have a battery issue and replaced the battery about 4 months ago. All the sudden my airbag light has come on and will not go off. I am concerned because I have three children, and I have heard that the 2006 kia Sedona has these problems with airbag. Is there going to be a recall on it?.
My air bag light came on and has stayed on since then. I have not had the money to have it looked at.
Went with my family to dinner and vehicle worked fine as usual. When we got back into the vehicle after dinner and I started it, I noticed the airbag light on, the a/c was on full blast and interior lights stopped working. Turned vehicle off, waited a minute and tried again with same results. Went home, disconnected the battery terminals, waited a couple of minutes and reconnected them and still the problem. Have looked on the internet and noticed other owners with same problem and no solution.

2006 kia Sedona. Consumer writes in regards to air bag light illuminating. The dealer informed the consumer, with the air bag light on, there was a possibility the air bag(s), may not deploy.
Air bag light came on in dash and will not go off, kia said was problem in one of seat belt sensors, 500. 00 to fix. This is a common problem and should be under recall for safety issue.
Airbag light on without crash or defect in well maintained auto. Apparently this totally inactivates all airbags. Multiple similar complaints in NHTSA system. Needs to be recall, since most owners are unable to afford dealer repairs to this defective system on this model car. Often attributed to defective seatbelt sensors. Hopefully no one will die because of this problem, and kia USA should pay to repair this known defect!.
Purchased a 2008 kia Sedona used with a 3yr 36k extended warranty. On the way home I tested to see if the cig lighter worked in the dash. The air bag light illuminated, and the interior lights no longer work. Also the a/c fan in the cabin is now stuck on high when in use. This is an annoyance however the major concern is the air bags will now not function. After extensive online research this is more than a common occurrence. Kia should be forced to recall every electrically faulty vehicle they put out. The electrical problems which are numerous always seem to disable the air bags and cause other issues. This is not safe and is a hazard to the public.
The contact owns a 2012 kia Sedona. While driving approximately 15 mph, the air bag warning indicator illuminated continuously. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated to the contact that the front driver side air bag electrical box would need to be replaced. The vehicle continued to remain at the dealer due to the part not being unavailable. The estimated arrival date for the part was April 21, 2012. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 8,600. The VIN was unavailable.

Shortly after warranty expired (early 2012), the air bag light went on our kia Sedona. I took the van to our local kia dealer to check and they told me that it was the weight classification seat sensor assembly (part 88610 - $1399. 75 at that time) that had to be replaced. After labor cost and taxes it would be $2022!! kia was having some recalls around that time, but none to address this issue. The main reason we bought this van for our family was because of high safety ratings involving all the airbags. Now we are driving without airbags and praying for extra angels around the van when we have to go on the highway. We would like to take long road trips, but that seems too dangerous without airbags. Please investigate and you will find out it is a common issue with this make and model. Kia needs to step it up and fix this issue; lives are at stake. Thank you!.
2007 kia Sedona. Consumer writes in regards to recall concerning air bag issues the consumer stated a little after 60,000 miles, the air bag light illuminated. The dealer informed the consumer, the problem was a sensor in the front seat and the cost to replace it would be $1600. The consumer stated his private mechanic ordered a seat that came with a sensor at a price of $585 plus tax and installing with a total cost of $700.

My airbag light came on & I called my local kia dealer. They told me to make sure nothing was under seats because that could cause it. There was nothing under the seats, however about 25 miles later (when I arrived at work) the light went off. The next day the light came back on & has not gone off since. There are so many complaints about this same thing on this make and model, this should be a recall. It is a safety issue & I shouldn't have to pay $2000 of my money to fix kia's shortfall!!!.
Red air bag light is on. This has happened previously and was reset. I believe that this is a safety issue and should be on the recall list. There are other complaints about the similar problem .
Problems: air bag light on again. Has been repaired by dealer several times. Ac does not blow cold continually and has been repaired several times. New compressor, additional freon, etc. Horn malfunctioning again. Transmission problem - the vehicle "bangs or slams" when you come down a hill to a stop. When slowing down to a stop light it actually has a surge or acceleration. This vehicle only has 64000 on it and the brakes have been serviced several times (front and rear). Now when I am driving I get a terrible grinding feeling - and at a higher speed on the highway when you go to slow down faster it vibrates terribly. Also the braking is terrible at higher speeds. Also had problems with the actuator repair/replaced several times, horn not sounding properly, air bag light (repaired several times), cruise control issues (won't maintain speed - accelerates or decelerates), battery or electrical issues (told to replace battery which I did & paid for), headlight issues (have replaced lights several times), vibration on highway (new tires and tires have been rebalanced. Alignment done). After reviewing multiple websites on kia reviews, these above items are very common experiences for kia Sedona owners. I wanted to make you aware of these items since I feel that if consumers do not notify the authorities nothing will be corrected or known. I have really noticed in the last few months, almost immediately after passing the warranty mark, the vehicle has taken a turn for the worse and problems seem to be escalating.
The electrical system has shorts and harness issues all over. You had a recent recall, but not involving 2006 Sedonas only 2007. Our vehicle has same issue as found in the recent recall. The airbag light is on and I have never had an accident. The lighting is also affected due to the wiring harness. I have one blinker I constantly replace and same with one front head lamp. I have seen other complaints of the same thing with the same exact vehicle.
It all started when my wife picked up the vehicle in question from a rental salesman, he told her that she should not plug our gps unit into the cigarette lighter or it would cost $90. 00 for us to repair the light that would come on for the air bags. We did not plug the unit into the cigarette lighter but plugged it into the accessory power outlet. On Sunday 07/12/09 I encountered a problem. The air bag light came on, the air conditioner only came on high, and the interior lights went out. It's an electrical problem in the outlets.
Air bag light came on - turned out to be a very expensive replacement of the air bag module. I have talked to other people who have the same problem with the kia Sedona - same year. Air bags apparently don't work if the light comes on.
The contact owns a 2008 kia Sedona. While driving the vehicle at various speeds, the brakes began pulsating and there was excessive vibration in the steering wheel including a burning odor. The stated that the failure could be related to the way she drove the vehicle. A second dealer stated that brakes over heated and the brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the brakes should have failed at 15,000 miles. The vehicle will be repaired; however, she stated that the brakes were defective. The failure mileage was 7000 and the current mileage was 15,300. Updated 10/26/09. The rotors overheated and were warped. The air bag light was on. The consumer was also informed tires were need on the vehicle due to cupping. Updated 10/26/09.
The contact owns a 2003 kia Sedona. While driving at an unknown speed, the air bag indicator illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they changed the seat belt buckles on the driver and passenger seats. There was an inner connection with the circuits, which caused the air bag indicator to illuminate. The failure mileage was 98,000. Updated 05/06/09. Updated 05/07/09.
The cars airbag light came on and I was never involved in a collision or anything. I have not taken it to the shop yet because of lack of funds.
My 2003 kia Sedona air bag light kept coming on told kia dealer about it they refused to do anything for it. Said was not a problem. Upon a accident the pass. Airbag deployed with know one in the seat or any item in the seat it deployed so hard that it tore the sun visor off its arm and turned it into a projectile.
2006 kia Sedona Mini-van with ongoing air bag system failure issues. The 'passenger airbag off' light is lit when more than an 80# person is sitting in the front passenger seat indicating that the airbag is turned off. At times the airbag system indicator light is lit as well which is indicative of an entire airbag system failure according to kia's maintenance manual that came with the vehicle. This has been ongoing for 3 years and has been taken to the shop numerous times with results I was told, "you had your purse and a book on the front seat and that messes with the seat sensor", replacement of the computer, replacement of the front passenger seat, I was told, "we didn't plug the seat sensor back in all the way", and etc. The car has had multiple other issues but this one is by far the largest safety issue.
The contact owns a 2002 kia Sedona. While driving less than 25 mph, the contact noticed that the air bag light was illuminated. The dealer stated that the seat belt sensor failed and caused the air bag light to illuminate. No repairs have been made as of yet. The VIN and engine size were unknown. The current and failure mileages were 84,000. Updated 09/19/tr.

The contact owns a 2003 kia Sedona. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle failed to brake at a safe distance. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times to replace the brake pads and the rotor. The dealer stated that the contact is driving the vehicle improperly and causing the brakes to wear out. The contact stated that the air bag indicator does not appear on the dashboard. The current mileage is 100,000 and failure mileage was 96,283.
In 11/04 my abs lights went on in my 02 kia Sedona. I took the van to get new brakes and was told that I needed to take it to the dealership because the abs sensor was broken in pieces on the driver side wheels. In 8/05 my air bag light came on in the dash and stayed on. Before I could get my car in to dealership, I was driving home from work in early 9/05 going ove an overpass when my car just died and lost all power. I was told that my master flow sensor went bad and needed a new one (warranty). They also replaced the seat belt sensor in the drivers side to take care of the air bag light. 2 days later my airbag light came back on. In 12/05 my abs light came on again along with the warning beep. I called my dealership and got appt. Following Tuesday. I was told it should be safe to drive until then. Both headlights also went out. Now when applying brake my brake goes down grinds, adjust then goes all the way down . Got car to dealership tues am. In the afternoon received call 1 yr old battery is leaking acid due to faulty alternator (sending too much power out. Was told must replace battery so that dealership may complete diagnosis. Was told by dealership kia only warranties main issue not any additional items damaged by main issue. Received call a little while ago, told bad altinator needs battery faulty seat belt sensor now in passenger seat belt (3 months ago was drivers side also my headlights are both blown - yes faulty altenator most likely caused this. I was also told that my new brakes (replaced in Aug 05 at less than 3000 mi ago) are wore thin and need relacement along with rotors which now have grooves in them and they are also to thin. I have now replaced the brakes 4 times on a vehicle that is 4 yrs old and being told must replace once again.
They were minor at first, speaker cover, weather stripping, and noise when backing up. Then the other problems came: faulty pilot bearing, clutch, and pressure plate, 4wd light, e brake, power windows, paint coming of vehicle in various places, dome lamp, door lock sensor, gear shifter, windshield molding, air bag light, gas pedal sticking, cup holder. The ones that concern me the most is the vibration that I have at speeds of 65-75 mph. The whole steering wheel shakes and the vibration can be felt below. I have seen where there are other complaints on this model for this. I am concerned because I have taken it to the dealer and they cannot locate the problem. I also have problems shifting into lower gears especially in the mornings. I also have problems shifting into 1st gear from neutral. I was sitting at a stop light and when the light turned green went to put my car into first, it would not go, I shifted into 2nd and tried to go into 1st but it would not go. I finally cut the vehicle off and got it into 1st. The other main concern is there is a delay on acceleration. I experience it after my vehicle has sat for 5 or more hours. When the gas pedal is pushed the vehicle will not go or will move several feet and then stop. I have made the dealership aware of these problems and some have been fixed but the major ones, vibration, hesitation, and shifting into 1st cannot be fixed because the cause is unknown. I have already had two close calls in this vehicle one because I could not get my car into gear and I was about hit from behind. The other was the hesitation where the car stalled just as I was pulling onto the road and would not go. The vibration concerns me too because this could be the transmission or steering, and I know that much of a vibration has to affect other things as well. I am going to contact someone about trying to declare this vehicle as a lemon. I am concerned for my daughter's safety and this is my only source of transportation. Please help me.

We have a 2002 Sedona. We have owned it for 2 years. And this is the 7th time the airbag light has come on and stayed on. Evey time we take it in they replace something, once was the seat belt latch, another time was a part in the computer and so on. They just don't know what is causing it to come on, so they tell me. That is such a reassuring answer for a car owner. We have also had problems with the battery, hatchback not opening and having dents in it from when we shut it and break problems that they refussed to fix until after the warrenty expired. It is time now for an attorney to step in for us.
Air bag light will come on and stay on, it has stayed on for about a month. Contacted dealer, and the dealer stated that they could not find the cause of the problem. Please provide further information.
