The dealer informed the consumer she would be responsible for the repair. Later on, the dealer informed her a service bulletin on the sliding door and latch had been issued and the vehicle would be repaired free of charge. Kia offered consumers who had experienced the problem a modified door latch kit that permits road dirt to readily exit the latch assembly to remove the cause of the door failure. He sliding doors on the 2009 kia Sedona freeze shut. Leading to pulling and yanking on the handles to get the doors to open. This happens on a very regular basis and has since the first freeze of purchasing the van in October of 2009. After noticing that two other vans in the area have the same issue, I have decided to make a complaint. At times we have loaded our children through the front doors to allow them getting in the van. Another time we had to drive our other vehicle. It will eventually cause the handles to break off the van with the amount of force we need to use to open the doors.

I was in a parking lot once again, loading my children in the passenger side of the 2006 kia Sedona that we have, and when I went to shut the door, it bounced back open five times without latching. . . This will make the fourth time that we are going to take it in tomorrow morning for door problems. . . This will make the third time that we have had the same problems with the passenger sliding door bouncing back open, and not latching. Big safety issues that need addressed soon! the first time taken in, problem could not be duplicated. . . Second time, the service dept installed new cables in both sliding doors, the third time was for the drivers side sliding door, that was stuck open and would not shut at all and had to drive down a busy street that way. . . They found a cable nut that was unplugged in the door and supposedly fixed that, but they would not provide me with any proof of my vehicle being in the service dept while I went to pick up the van from obrien. . . Service guy kept saying he would put my papers in the mail. . . . Sounds kinda fishy to me. . . . And now this (doors bouncing open again on the passenger side) I have two very small children that ride in the two seats there, but the service dept and obrien does not seem to care about that. . . So, we will see what happens in the morning!.

We waited in the kroger parking lot for about 2 and 1/2 hours while no one at obrien kia would come and get myself and my two small children, and the door was wide open, and it was starting to get dark out and the breeze was picking up. . . We have had the van in obrien 2 other times for the passenger sliding door bouncing back open and not latching (big safety issue, and now the drivers side sliding door won't even shut (another big safety issue) with small children in the car. . . Who's to say it won't happen while we are driving down the highway and when is it going to actually going to get fixed, or does someone have to get killed first!!!! a receptionist from obrien finally came about 2 1/2 hours later and drove my car down a busy street with the side door still open and the headlights turned off, and took it to the shop to be fixed, and I now have a rental car again. They say it will get fixed this time again!.

24 Door Latch problem of the 2005 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 01/23/2006

The 2005 kia Sedona I own has been plagued by numerous problems. The first of which is a brake malfunction. It was thumping when braking at high speeds then grinding when braking at low speeds. The pads have been replaced, rotors machined, then they were replaced. Also, there is a joint or strut problem b/c . When you go over a bump in a residential neighborhood it sounds creaky and as if it might snap. Also, power door locks have been serviced twice. In addition the steering wheel is very shaky. The dealer blamed that on alignment. Also, the tires need to be replaced at less than 25k and probably have needed to be replaced since 15k. This is due to the brake problem I am certain. All attempts to have these issues resolved have been blown off by the dealer -- until 11/07 when I demanded that there was indeed something wrong.

27 Door Latch problem of the 2002 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 01/21/2005

I have had numerous problems with my kia Sedona. Within a few months of ownership the head gasket blew and it was towed in and replaced. Then the windshield broke during the night in the garage with no weather extremes. I replaced that. In 2 years I've had 2 blowouts to the front driver's tire. The only 2 in my whole 30+ years of driving. Dealer says its not the car. The front wheel bearings were replaced. In Dec 2004 the engine was replaced, the lumbar support was broken and fixed, the driver's doorhandle broke and was fixed by kia. Jan18 it was back in because the hood release was not working. It was fixed and we picked up the vehicle 1/19. On 1/21 the gas pedal stuck, I brought it in and they fixed it immediately. " the cover had fallen down and they tied it back up. " obviously not a good job because it stuck again on the way home at 65mph. I was finally able to stop the car and had it towed back in. I think it is a death trap!.

29 Door Latch problem of the 2002 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 06/01/2004

The power lock in the driver's door of our 2002 kia Sedona locks unexpectedly. It locks by itself when we close the door; it locks by itself when we open the door. Worse, when the lock activates it locks all of the doors in the van, including the tailgate. This is a random, though frequent, occurrence. This seems to be a very dangerous condition, since we have an infant and a toddler, and are always fearful of being locked out of the van while they are inside.

30 Door Latch problem of the 2003 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 07/01/2003

I have numerous complaints on my 2003 kia sodona. I purchased the vechile in June of 2003, we have since taken the van in to the dealership for a variety of problems. The aircondtioner stop blowing cold air with in the first three months of owning it, this has been fixed. Paint has peeled off the front bumper, seat belt ratcheting system stopped working, engine mount needed replacing, tansmition needed adjusting three times, and the last problem was the vechile would lock when ever and where ever it felt the need to. I locked my self out of the car with my children inside many times. The dealship replaced a main panal inside the door. Despite, all the times I have taken it in, at least twice for every problem, the dealership refuses to give me a car, mind you I have two children to cart around all day. I am extrmemly peeved about this van.

32 Door Latch problem of the 2002 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 10/06/2002

On July 4, 2002 we purchased a 2002 kia Sedona minivan. Immediately after driving out of the dealership we parked at a store, when we returned to the vehicle it would not start. We called the dealership and they sent out a tow truck. The van was towed to the dealership and the service adviser indicated that they had numerous complaints regarding a driver seat relay that was causing the batteries to go out on this year, make and model of vehicle. He indicated that they were changing all relays. They replaced with new battery and new relay on the van. The van continued to give us problems, the whole electrical system (stereo, windows, door locks) would go off and on as we were driving. If we would stop vehicle, the vehicle would not start. We had numerous jump starts. We took the vehicle in approx. 4 or 5 times to the dealership with complaints regarding problems, there was black smoke coming out of the exhaust when we would start the vehicle. Brakes would squeal when applied. Van was terribly hot under the car and it would blow out the heat and almost burn us. I asked the service adviser if they could exchange the van for another one and he indicated that they had to have a continuous report of repairs in order to turn it in as a "lemon". We were traveling in mexico for business and pleasure when our van started on fire on the highway and other autos noticed and waved us down to stop. We noticed, pulled off the road safely and all 6 adult passengers were able to get out safely and run away from the vehicle as it started exploding. The fire came from all underneath of the van. The mexican federal highway police came to where the van was and took a report of the incident. The van burnt down to a skeleton. I reported the incident to the kia customer service, they denied our claim without no explanation. No one ever called to find out the facts or gather information. Obviously, they did not even look at their own service repair tickets.

33 Door Latch problem of the 2002 Kia Motor Sedona

34 Door Latch problem of the 2002 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 01/07/2002

We have a 2002 kia Sedona; we bought in Dec of 2001. Within the first 6 months, the alternator, battery, ignition switch, had to be replaced, along with sliding doors falling off the hinge. I complained of a wind noise for the first year no one knew what it was. It went unfixed. Within a year the shocks, the struts and sliding doors had to be replaced. My air-condition went out completely guess what no more wind noise. And no longer under warranty. My rear wiper control went out. Recently, while on thanksgiving vacation to ohio we had to have roadside pick up our van as the transmission totally went out without warning. While in the shop we were advised our brakes were not safe to drive. We had never had a problem with the brakes. And the motor mounts were also in need of replacement. Was in the shop 14 days, we had to drive back to ohio to when ready. The brakes went to the floor had never ever done that before. When we were on our way out of town, the transmission was acting up. We made it home on Dec 7th and no one at kia could take the vehicle in until the service manager returned my call he was off for doctor visit. On Dec 13, I took my van in to be repaired, they called me and told me it would need a new transmission, and guess what they are also repairing the sliding doors 5th time I think. They have to also fix the dent in the hood that was not there, before the ohio kia took it in to be fixed. Today it has been 15 days. I still do not have my van. I would not recommend kia to my worst enemy. Please allow others to know that kia is a lemon if ever there were one.
