The contact owns a 2005 kia Sedona. The contact stated that there was a progressing noise heard near the brake system. The dealer diagnosed that the wheel bearings and hubs prematurely fractured and were held together only by two bolts. The parts had to be replaced on the front driver's side tire. The dealer was to further inspect the other three tires. In addition, the vehicle was to be taken to an independent repair shop. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but provided no solution. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 05v232000 (wheels). The contact was uncertain as to who would repair the vehicle and if the failure would recur. The failure mileage was not available.

I purchased my 2003 kia Sedona in November 2005. So far the following have been repaired or replaced: front hub assembly left side once, right side 2x's, the alternator, the wiper motor, two recalls, the battery, now at 65,000 miles the transmission is shot and needs to be replaced and the timing belt has been replaced. However the warranty company says they wont replace it because the cost of the repair exceeds the value of the car. This is simply outrageous. I have brought the car to the dealer for every service needed. Transmission, oil filter ect.
Vehicle has multiple brake issues. . . Replaced front rotor and pads 3 times, and replaced front wheel bearings twice. Vehicle was bought with 7,226 miles and now has 20,000 miles. The belts were replaced twice and the front suspension was fixed twice so far. Vehicle was bought at zeiser motors is st. Peters mo and the service department keeps telling me there is nothing wrong with vehicle.
: the contact stated the rear passenger side tire fell off while the contact was jacking up the vehicle. The non service dealer determined this occurred due to the wheel bearing disintegrating. The front driver side wheel bearing also disintegrated. The manufacturer had a recall #05v232000; regarding the wheels, but the vehicle was not included in the recall due to the VIN.
The contact stated that while driving the left rear passenger wheel came loose from the vehicle with the tire as well as the lugs nuts still intact. The contact was able to coast into a gas station before the wheel came completely off. Before this incident recall 05v232000 repairs were performed on rear wheel bearings for water by a local kia dealership. The dealership inspected the inside wheel bearings . The vehicle was towed back to the kia dealership. The dealer could not determine why this occurred, and could not find any moisture within the bearings. The vehicle is currently at the dealer for repairs.
The contact owns a 2004 kia Sedona. The vehicle was involved in recall # 05v232000 regarding the wheel bearings. The contact' s vehicle developed brake failure shortly after the recall repair was performed. The contact heard a loud grinding noise when stopping the vehicle, and the stopping distance was reduced. The failure occurred intermittently. The dealer replaced and repaired the brake pads, drums, and rotors, but the noise continued. The current mileage is 61,000, and failure mileage was 13,000.
The caller received a recall letter but can't get repair work done. Dealer said they did have the parts to fix it. Throttle cable and wheel barings faiked. Dealer said parts were on back order. Manufacturer has not been contacted yet.
The consumer owns a 2005 kia Sedona. She purchased the vehicle on 6-20-05, and twenty minutes after she drove the car off the lot, the radio quit working along with the ignition light illuminating. The consumer took the vehicle back to the dealership, and they could not service the car that day but made an appointment to come back on 6-22-05. The dealership kept the vehicle for three days. On 7-26-05 the brake went all the way to the floor and made a loud ticking noise while turning. The consumer took the vehicle to another dealership for repairs, and they resurfaced the brakes and the ignition. On 7-31-05 the brakes failed. The consumer tried to pump the brakes and they would not catch. To keep from hitting the vehicle in front, she veered to the left and ran onto the median, causing two blow outs on the driver's front and rear. The consumer had the vehicle towed to aaa, and they replaced one of the tires and placed the spare on the vehicle. There where no injuries in this accident. Also, one of the tires in the accident looked as if someone had taken a knife and cut the tire. The cut was so clean that the dealership refused to repair the tire or the rim. The consumer had to buy a new tire and rim. On 8-18-05 the van was taken back to kia,. The consumer was given a rental car. The consumer had gotten the vehicle back on August 28, 2005. On 8-19-05 the consumer received a recall letter concerning the gas pedal and braking problems. (11/30/05) the emission light had come on and smoke was seen coming from under the vehicle, there was a loud ticking sound heard when turning the steering and a coil was repaired as a result, the grease seal leaked and there was a hesitation when the vehicle kicked into gear.
Consumer received a recall notice. Contacted dealer, and they do not have the parts for recall repairs. Dealer did receive some parts but not complete parts, then, contacted the manufacturer, who first said they didn't have any, and some were not complete. Manager said that consumer would hear a humming 10,000 miles prior.
Dt:contact attempted to have a recall taken care off but the parts were not available from kia. They were on back order. Contact was told by the dealer and by kia they were on national backorder . He has been told that back order will take approximately 2 weeks. He was concerned because the recall was for damaged outer wheel bearings. He knew there was damage to the wheel bearings, and that he was driving an unsafe van, and transporting children in the van.
The caller received recall letter concerning outer rear wheel bearing in June and has not been able to get work done. The caller has not experienced any problems yet. Dealer said the parts were on back order. Manufacturer said they would call the dealer and find out why the caller could not get parts. They were told the caller was on top of list when parts come in. Caller was concerned about the safety issue of the wheel bearing went out. The caller said the recall letter stated that the problem could lead to a crash if it was not repaired.
Consumer states: the right passenger back end of the tire fell off. Had to be towed, the axle broke, the bearing went out, and tire come off. Also, hub assembly came off. Vehicle is in the shop for same problem, and consumer has a loaner vehicle.
The contact owns a 2005 kia Sedona. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph he felt a vibration when the brakes were applied. When he pulled over he noticed that the front end suspension had fallen apart. The manufacturer was contacted and advised her to take it to a dealer for a diagnostic test. The dealer stated that it was the contacts driving habit that contributed to the front end suspension failing. The vehicle has been repaired four times and is currently waiting for the fifth part to be installed. The dealer replaced the wheel bearings and the knuckle assembly which has fallen apart five times. The failure mileage was 105,000. The current mileage was 123,442.
I've had a number of problems with my 2003 kia Sedona. Initially one of the gaskets leaked and had to n be replaced. The windshield cracked overnight in the garage when there was no weather extremes. The wheel bearings went in the front tire. Recently the engine had to be replaced because it was leaking and after replacing all the gaskets it couldn't get pressure. The driver's door handle broke, the lumbar support stopped working. The hood wouldn't close properly. And on top of all those things I've had 2 blowouts to the front driver's tire in a 2 year period. The dealer says there is nothing wrong with the wheel but I'm not sure he even checked because of the engine problems he had to deal with.
I've had many problems with my 2003 kia Sedona. The emergency brake has never been right. The brakes were replaced at 13k miles, again at 24k miles (front & back) and I'm sure they need to be replaced again at 40k miles. At 22k miles I took the van to the shop for brakes only to be told that both wheel bearings, the left strut (they refused to replace both struts since it was warranty but if I was paying for the repairs they would recomend replacing in pairs) and the power steering pump was going out (which the manager said he was doing me a favor by telling me about). I have also complained of the a/c taking forever to cool down, had a sensor replaced for the gas tank after the check engine light came on and service to the drivers seatbelt. Then yesterday during a storm I went through a puddle about 4 or 5 inches deep which splashed water on my van for a couple of seconds and about 50 feet down the road the van died and could not be restarted. Upon having it towed to the kia dealer I was told that my airfilter had gotten wet and that there was "dish soap" in my airfilter which would be considered customer damage and not covered by warranty. I also complained about more noises coming from the front and a grinding noise when I begin acceleration in low gears. They requested I make an appointment for service on those issues. In addition, I purchased this vehicle on 4/23/03, when I tried to file a complaint about my service on the wheel bearing, etc with kia they had no record of me ever purchasing this van. Apparently in their minds my van was sold to someone else on 2/27/03. This means if there is ever a recal or service notice sent out I would not receive them. In addition they had my warranty expiration date set at 2/27/03. I spoke with several people concerning this issue and was assured that this would immediately be corrected, however yesterday when I called for assistance I was told that the van was still listed as being sold to another person.
Front end suspension was tight when new. Now the front end makes sounds as if something is loose and about to fall off or break. Dealer said it was normal! other 2002 kia Sedona's don't have that feeling in the suspension. I have read that other's have had their suspensions fixed by changing components such as struts, bushing, seals, etc. Kia knows something is wrong with the 2002's because test drives show the 2003's don't have that sound of shacking front end.
