Bought a van the next day my breaks were metal on metal. I found out it was flooded. The second day the key stuck in the ignition, the middle seats got stuck and will not fold up. The dealer said their mechanic went all over the van and said it was in good condition. The calipers are in very bad shape. He said they need replaced soon.

I have only put the seats on this vehicle in and out 6 times in all of the time I have owned it. I am now unable to lock the left rear seat into position. I am also unable to remove the seat. The wires under the seat are not responding to the pull mechanism. The seats were stored very carefully and no damage was done while in 5 years of storage. I am not able to safely take the grand kids for a ride without putting up the last row of seats up so they can be buckled in.

The contact owns a 2007 kia Sedona. The contact stated that he was unable to lock the second row seat back in place after it was removed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnostic test that confirmed that the failure was caused by the seat rail locking system which needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted, but denied assistance with the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 72,000. Updated 04/15/lj the consumer stated the seat appear to be latch when they are not. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a misaligned seat rail that was mounted on the bottom of the floor. Updated 08/18/11.
One bolt holding the rear seat back of my 2003 kia Sedona to the seat base has sheared off and broken on both of my rear seats. This issue occurred at occurred at sometime past 124,000 miles of vehicle use. The problem was noticed when the folded seat backs were put into the upright position and the seat back would not lock into place, but instead moved both up and down and forward and backward on one side while the other side was locked in place in the upright position. The problem was then verified by removing the plastic cover on the side of the seat hinge assembly and visually looking at the sheared off bolts. Both rear seats have exactly the same problem. The problem occurred on the side closest to the outside of the vehicle. For the drivers side rear seat the shearing took place on the side closest to the exterior of the vehicle (the left side as you face the rear of this seat). And on the passenger side rear seat the shearing took place on the side closest to the exterior side of the seat. This is a significant safety concern since our children could have experienced significant injury if the vehicle had been in an accident prior to discovery of the problem. The fact that not one but two bolts were sheared off on two separate seats is also very troubling. The bolts are holding on both rear seat backs are scheduled to be replaced on June 23, 2009 if the dealership has the parts. It is unclear whether the dealership will cover these repairs under the product warranty due to mileage on the vehicle even though it is a safety issue.

My 12 year old daughter was adjusting the seat back in the rear row of the kia Sedona - when she unlatched the adjustment latch the rear seat back sprung forward (she was facing the rear to see the seat move) with such force that it hit her in the mouth and drove her bottom braces through her bottom lip - she required immediate medical attention to unhook the braces and then plastic surgery to close the wound (6 stitches in both the inside and outside of her mouth).
The contact owns a 2002 kia Sedona. The vehicle had been parked for approximately 8-10 hours when it suddenly caught fire. The wiring fuse box caused the engine, radio, and wiper/washer to activate. The fire originated in the instrument panel. The contact was able to douse the fire with a fire extinguisher. The vehicle was later towed to a dealer and they did not provide a reason as to why it caught fire. The contact found numerous complaints on the same type of vehicle with identical failures. The current and failure mileages were 72,000. Updated 03/06/08. The consumer stated the recall was done, however ever since the repair, the seats never worked correctly. The consumer had worked done on the air conditioner. Updated.

The contact owns a 2006 kia Sedona. The contact stated that the arm rest in the middle row seats has two plastic pieces that do not meet or fit over the arm rest. While his daughter was seated in one of the middle row seats, she moved right to left and the plastic piece caused a severe laceration to her skin. He notified the dealer and the manufacturer and they stated that the seat was designed in that manner. The manufacturer provided him with reference number k1320663. The failure mileage was 4,000 and current mileage was 6,000.
During harder braking in a kia Sedona van, the second row seat flipped forward and clobbered the driver's (mine) head. I was so startled that I had no control of the vehicle for a few seconds. Nothing was hit. This was because the second row seats flip forward to allow rear entry but they do not necessarily re-latch when putting them upright again, either from a lack of re-latching force or debris/carpet interference with the latch.
Kia Sedona rear outer bearings and/or hub assembly needing replaced. When the consumer arrived at the dealership, she informed the representative the left rear seat would not come out and the air bag light was on. When the consumer went to pick up the van and after going over the paperwork, she noticed only the air bag light was fixed and everything else the parts were on order. After getting another appointment, the consumer then told the dealer she was experiencing a pulsation when in the brakes. The dealer told the consumer the brakes were not a part of the warranty, however they would take the responsibility for the rotors, but the consumer would have to pay for the brake pads. The consumer stated the pulsation problem had never been fixed. The consumer was told now the rear brakes were pulsating.

While driving and when making a sudden stop or turn second row seat slid forward or backward, not locking in place when places in the fold down position.
While driving 50 mph vehicle was involved in a collision. Upon impact, dual air bags did not deploy, and seat belt broke. According to the consumer the seat belt retractor did not lock during the event. Driver sustained neck injuries during the rollover crash. The back seat had become dislodged during the accident. Recall#03v135000.
I hurt my back trying to remove the "removable" rear seats in my 2003 kia Sedona. The seats are not only very heavy, but the rearward jerking motion recommended by my dealer to remove the seat often fails to disengage the seat, causing back injury. My dealer told me the specific seats I have are not broken, but they agreed that kia's design for removal is flawed. On the recommendation of my dealer service consultant yves fernandez (321-951-9595), I spoke with "elvina" at kia customer service directly (2/14/2003 800-333-4542). Elvina refused to help me in any way. Specifically, she also refused to acknowledge my complaint in writing. These seats are dangerous and should be fixed to make them safer and easier to remove. Can you please help me with this?.
Consumer states the rear back seat does not buckle up at all. O to the rear track to the vehicle seat, not installed correctly notified.
