Van has just over 115xxx miles on it. Have noticed that transmission has a whip or slip feel when you take foot off gas pedal and then reapply foot to gas pedal. Took to my mechanic and he stated that transmission is showing wear. Wanted to report due to potential recall in the future.

Over the past year, I have replaced struts, bushings, cv boots, & countless other items on suspension. I have had Sedona looked @ by multiple mechanics. Have driven around w/ me on both occasions. Had three ase certified guys at one time checking everywhere for lose or broken parts. We even checked spare tire & the pressure in it. When I go over any uneven surface, something rattles or clunks under the van. Not a little, a lot! everyone can actually feel it, not just hear it. Cannot pin point location. It seems mostly around spare tire area, but I feel it under driver & passenger area too. Middle & back can feel & hear it. You cannot make it happen over things like speed bumps. Just uneven surfaces. Random. . So embarrassing & making me crazy! I also have had on 5 or 6 occasions when driving, I will take foot off gas as cars slow or exiting up a hwy ramp. When I push to excel, it wont catch but the engine rpms go crazy & engine races. I have to try to let off & reapply foot to gas to get it to grab. I almost got rearended twice! it happens fast, suddenly & far in between. Scares me to death. It is like the transmission is slipping, but had at dealership long ago for this & just like the other stuff, if they cannot make it happen. . . Sorry, out of luck! I now am just under the 100k mark & still cannot get resolve. Cannot sell a clunking car!.
Lter from constituent complaint and demand for action re her 2006 kia Sedona which without warning shut-down due to a catastrophic engine failure. The dealer stated the engine failure was due to sludge build-up. Prior to the engine failure, the consumer stated the brakes were vibrating, noisy and the vehicle was pulling to the right. It was recommended that the brakes and all of the tire be replaced. The dealer also recommended as alignment. The transmission would slip when shifting fro first to second gear. The dealer had to order an input sensor.
2005 kia Sedona lx purchased new from dealer on 3-10-05. On 3/24/05, took van in for initial oil change and asked them to check brakes as well because of excessive noise, grinding, and a pulsating when using brakes. Mileage was 2890. When technician checked brakes, the rotors were found to be warped, so they were resurfaced. On 9/17/05, took van back in for grinding noises as well as transmission slippage. Mileage was 7781. According to the technician, no fault was found with braking system and noised was blamed on high humidity. No fault found on transmission either. Throttle upgrade recall performed at this time. On 12/27/05, took van back in for shaking and vibrating when braking. Mileage was 10664. Technician found that the rotors were again warped. Tried to resurface again, but found flaw in material, so new front disc plates were replaced. On 3/20/06, van once again taken in for popping and noises made when braking. Mileage was 15325. Technicians found no issues and said that they would need more time to diagnose issue. 15,000 mile service performed in lieu of checking brakes. On 10/6/06, took van in for issues relating to brakes again. Technicians found that the brake pads were in need of repair on front, and rear drums needed resurfacing. Engine mount was also worn and replaced.

We bought a van that was delivered from portland oregon to our home in lynden washington about 10:30 pm the next day my wife proceeded to check the vehicle fluids, clean the vehicle, ect . Then apon that found the fluids to be low and not serviced. She my wife then called the car lot talked to the sales manager, he professed that it had been serviced and when my wife explained her discovery he then told her to take it to jiffy lube and the car lot would pay for it to be done. When driving it to be serviced we my wife and I noticed the transmission was slipping there for we contacted our loan office to see if the deal had been funded in which it had but they advised us to have the dealership swap us out of the vehicle, so we then went back to the dealership to let them know they were rude and wanted my wife to take it to the kia dealership to be diagnosed. When my wife took it to the kia dealership it was found that in fact the transmission was slipping and we would need a new transmission, we then contacted the dealership in which we bought the van , asked once again to be swapped out of this vehicle, they gave us the run around and told us unless we came up with $8,000. 00 - $10,000. 00 dollars there was nothing they could do except have us drive the van to them 224+ miles for them to put in a refurbished transmission in it . My wife before buying the van told them we did not want a vehicle with this much mileage on it the sales person told my wife it was ok because it had a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty on it. Which in fact it does not. They have lied to us about checking the vehicle out when in fact they bought it from another dealer where it was in storage. They told us we need to bring it to them if we brake down and the transmission goes out on the way that they would send a tow truck to pick it up and we would have to find our own way home. Maybe we should bring our other vehicle in case that was to happen. Also our paper work has no signatures.
