I was driving the car 2 weeks ago may 4 thand the car die in the middle of the road. I got someone to help push the car in there driveway. When back the next day with a mecanic he told me the car engine need to be replaced. Didn't believe him cause I brought the car 3 yrs ago. Before the car die the check engine turn on than die. The seatbelt turn in 1 month ago . Now I have 9000 left on the car the won't wrong take back and the dealership won't make a strades.
My engine gave out and my car will not start. I've had a mechanic look at it and they told me I need to replace the timing belt but the complete engine is no longer working. The car does not start and when it did it would still jolt from time to time. I've seen a recall online for my car online but kia said it's not covered because it was off by a couple months. Although the issue is the same.
Since I bought the 2011 kia Sorento the transmission or engine tends to stall in the middle of driving like not changing gears, gets locked, jerks back and forth till it unlocks or changes gears while at the same time slowing or stopping car in it's tracks. Twice I have hit my head on the steering wheel, have had seat belts lock tight against me and my passengers when it locks while trying to change gears. It happens at least 3-6 time a year since I have had the car. I have reported it to my service dealership kearny pearson kia, 7303 clairemont mesa blvd, san diego, CA 92111 and they have not found anything wrong. These past two years the gears locking is getting worse and the car slows down instantly from driving on the frwy 65 mph down to 35 mph instantly almost having cars hit me from behind. Same for driving on the street going 35-40 mph dropping to 5-10mph and stop/jerk/go/stop/jerk and almost having cars behind me crash into me. I have been blessed to have had fast reacting drivers behind me or no drivers. This last incident last month was so powerful that I smacked the steering wheel and thought I had gotten hit but didn't. My chest got tight as if I was having a heart attack from the force and my kids cried from the whiplash. This was yet the strongest. Also, since 2011 I have had 7 - 10 incidents of smoke coming out of the air vents, smiling like fire. I turn off the vent and it continues for 10min then goes away. I am no mechanic but if I had to guess I would say something with the air-conditioning being high for long periods and then when it gets turned down or off seems to activate these things especially the gears locking. Just my observation. I hope you can get to the bottom of this because for the first time in my life I fear for my life and those with me or around me with this car. You just don't know when it will happen next.
After a small number of days of a minor rattling from the engine, as I pulled away at an intersection there was a bang from the engine, the engine lost all power and there was a tremendous amount of banging from the engine. Managed to crawl to a nearby gas station. The car stalled on the forecourt. Managed to restart it, only to hear the terrible banging again and see that the engine still had no power. Had it towed to the local kia dealer the following morning. At the time of writing this, kia are refusing to fix the car under warranty, despite it still being covered and there only being 44,000 miles on it. They are claiming the reason for the incident is a 'clogged oil filter', although they have yet to properly examine the engine and officially diagnose the fault. The symptoms of my incident are suspiciously similar to other issues dating back to 2005 where the bolt pin on the crankshaft pulley shears.
From point of purchase (November 2010) the vehicle always had a hard start, the seat belt was incorrectly installed and the gas lid fails to open without manual prodding. In April 2012 the engine failed to start, and then this continued to happen multiple times thereafter. The dealership changed the battery and service the vehicle. In the following months a series of issues continued, windshield washer pump stopped working, failure start, loud knocking sound in the engine while idle and driving, and then the car started to stall and thrust hard forward. The car was serviced again, oil changed, the changed the pump and filters, all reported problems persisted through 2013. For three months the car remained in the dealership service shop where the engine was serviced, and some ?tappets? were replaced. The dealership cracked the engine cover, replaced it, without informing me. All engine, fail start, and windshield pump issues continues to persist to date (September 2013) despite multiple services.
