Body problems of the 2014 Kia Motor Sorento - part 2

The paint started peeling off of my car. My car is almost always parked in my garage, especially since I began working from home in March 2020. It is rarely exposed to the elements. Nothing hit or bumped my car. All of a sudden, a huge patch of paint is missing.

Paint chipping/flaking off driver side pillar. . . Over 4-5 inches in length.

I was informed to report the incidence of paint chipping on this form, although it is not a safety risk. From the images I upload you can see 2 years ago (4/23/2020)there were a couple of small areas of paint chipping where the windshield meets the roof of the car. These areas to my knowledge had no previous damage to them. There are/were a couple areas where there were minor dents (not pictured) which over the years began to peel as well. However just in the last few months (mainly over the winter) those small areas and new areas of peeling have started and grown at an enormously fast rate. I'm afraid to bring my car to a car wash now as it may chip more paint away. When doing research about this model and year trying to find out how to fix this problem I found a forum called kia-forums. Com as well as a facebook group all about the snow white pearl peeling and chipping delimitation problem. While not a safety risk, this is a risk of rust becoming a problem and something I'm very concerned about not only because I plan to keep this car for a long while but if I decided to sell it or trade it in my car is now going to sell for less. As an 8 year old car I understand wear and tear is natural but this is not a natural occurrence and I hope kia will find a way to recall these cars and fix the paint delamination problem.

I own a 2014 kia Sorento that the peeling is rapidly peeling off ( or what the body shops call delamination ) . My paint began peeling in a tiny spot I thought was a chip from a rock but rapidly began peeling all over. The vehicle is hand wash and the peeling continues, any water pressure continues to peel the paint including natural weather rain conditions. Mileage of vehicle is 113,000. This is very upsetting as you can wash the vehicle weekly or as needed as it would in race the delamination.

I have a pearl white 2014 kia Sorento with 46000 miles on it and the paint is peeling off my car.

Paint is falling off in chunks for no reason. This poses a risk to other drivers who may be negatively impacted by chunks flying off of the vehicle.

Paint delamination at multiple locations from manufacturing defect(s) not man made or acts of nature damage.

Paint is just falling off the vehicle.

Snow pearl white paint is peeling rapidly all around vehicle.

Chunks of my paint have begun rapidly peeling off of my vehicle. This can lead to structural integrity problems as moisture can penetrate and lead to rust and other damage. There hasn’t been any incidents to the vehicle to cause this.

Snow white pearl is peeling after 7 years with only 33200 mileage after a -25 night 12-31-2021 the picture tells it all.

Paint on the vehicle is delaminating. Starting on the hood an "a" pillars. It is the snow pearl color and is a wide spread problem.

The pearl white paint is peeling severely off the body. It is falling off in huge pieces.

Peel has started peeling on hood and near windshield on drivers side.

The paint on the body of the car is chipping, and peeling away. There are large patches of paint missing. While driving down the road paint falls off. The paint comes off randomly; allowing the environment to be affected. There is rust forming on the locations the paint, and primer have peeled away at. The vehicle has not been inspected at this time. No symptoms until the paint, and primer started coming off in chunks. I have seen several other 2014, white, kia Sorentos with paint and primer peeling up. As well as I have found several others online experiencing the same exact issue.

The white paint on this vehicle is delaminating and peeling off in several spots, mostly on the hood door frames and the roof.

Delamination of paint on our 2014 kia Sorento. We fixed the driver side the first time it happened in 2018 and now it happened again on the passenger side 102820.

I own a kia Sorento, pearl white, 2014, which just recently started to chip and now peel the paint on the side of the windshield. Its getting worse and worse every time the vehicle is moving. I went to the dealership but they only told me warranty is up, nothing we can do. The vehicle has approx. 85000 miles on it right now. I also have a little spot chipped on the hood of the car. I happen to catch 2 pieces of paint in my yard. Its not just little pieces that come off, its really like snake skin peeling in bigger pieces and its getting really bad.

The paint on my pearl white Sorento began delaminating or peeling off in sheets on the a bars on both sides of my windshield October 2020. Lots of rust beginning as a result. Auto body shop had never seen anything like it. I did not attempt repair bc of expense and uncertainty that a spot repair would be insufficient if it were to continue in other areas. Out of warranty due to age of vehicle.

The paint is chipping all over the vehicle. There has been no damage to the vehicle to warrant the paint peeling.

While driving the hood unlatched and we were unable to see.

The paint on the right side of windshield started peeling off. I was able to stop one small spot from spreading by using the kia paint pen, but another area opened up. Wind from highway driving has started taking off much larger areas of paint. My car is kept in a garage so weather damage is not the cause.

The paint on both sides of front window spontaneously started chipping symmetrically and bilaterally. I just noticed it one day when it was parked. It worsens with every day. Some tiny areas on the front hood are beginning to chip as well. It starts as a tiny chip then chunks start to peel off. I'm extremely dissatisfied. The kia dealer told me that it must have been rocks that hit the car.

My white 2014 kia Sorento started shedding paint in huge sections. Delamination and peeling everywhere. It wasn't caused by a rock chip. It's huge bubbles under the surface and it comes off in massive pieces. The whole car will have to be sanded to metal and repainted!!.

Noticed peeling and flaking of paint on roof after washing. Used non abrasive micro fiber handheld car wash mitt and turtle wax car soap. Backup camera is inoperable. Both conditions (premature flaking of paint and backup camera becoming inoperable) are known by kia for this make/model. No resolution is available other than to repaint/repair these items at owner's expense.

My vehicle has a rapid delamination and paint peeling that started. There was not crash and it started over 2020. I have attached an image.

On March 1, 2020, I went out to get in my car and noticed a 10" swatch of paint missing on the drivers side of my car between the windshield and drivers side window. Aproximately 4 days later, I noticed the same thing on the passenger side. I was very upset as it is only a 2014, I have babied it and love it. To have it look like this is very distressing and I have not had this happen to any other car I have owned.

At first, I thought it was due to normal wear on the vehicle. And would need a touch of paint job. I started seeing other vehicle with the same areas of paint issues on the road as mines. 2014 kia Sorento lx - pearl white paint peeling around windshield and off hood. Bubbles started forming form under paint and paint blisters and peels away quickly in large chunks from vehicle. Went to dealership and they told me paint is only under warranty for 36k miles, but after seeing all the complaints online with white Sorento, I realized there is a problem with kia paint. However, they suggested calling kia directly. When calling them they have no recall for this paint issue that has been caused by a defect in the paint that for some reason happens after their 36k miles warranty.
