I brought my 2016 kia Sorento in the dealer for check engine light (code p0172). After the evaluated it, they said the fuel pump and fuel lines need to be replaced because it's leaking fuel into the engine and the engine needs an oil change because the oil is diluted with fuel. They said the fuel pump and fuel line is covered under the warranty but the oil change isn't. This fuel system issue is every similar to the recalls that were reported on January 17, 2019 but my car didn't fall under the recall. Could this be part of the recall?.

The vehicle decelerated and would not go even when the gas was applied. When I came to a stop oil was leaking all over the ground. When looking under the hood, the high pressure fuel pump bolt had been sheered off and gas and oil were spewing out. Had the car towed to the dealership where they blamed the people who had done the last oil change 3,000 miles ago. At the same time they said that it could not have been driven 3,000 miles in that condition. They would not cover the repair under the warranty even though I only have 35,000 miles on the car.

I am a little perplexed with your judgement call kia. . . I own a 2014 kia Sorento that's as apart of your engine recall. . . The car passed the tests ran on it to determine if a new engine was needed, only to have the engine completely cease going 50mph on a major highway in virginia. . . I received a call today about an open recall on a fuel pump issue potentially causing fire. . . While I was aware of this situation due to the national news the issue has received I was not prepared for the supposed resolution to this issue. . . I was told that I needed to bring the vehicle in for inspection to determine if they thought the fuel pump needed to be replaced. . . So, let me get this straight you want me to yet again trust people that told me my engine was completely fine when it wasn't to now tell me I don't need a new fuel pump but potentially catch fire ??? something is seriously wrong with this situation ! the fact that you are willing to put peoples safety at jeopardy is disheartening. . . I have zero trust that if I am told the fuel pump doesn't need to be replaced that I am safe. . . You need a better resolution and you need one fast. . . .
While entering highway vehicle would not pick up speed. Engine would rev slowly. Pulled over shut vehicle down and restarted it and the problem resolved. Contacted dealer and was told to bring it in. Took to dealer and it had a high pressure fuel pump history code. Was told that if that pump fails it would cause what I experienced. Since pump was now working they couldn't replace it per kia policy. I asked again why they wouldn't just replace it if was such a safety problem and they stated they couldn't under warranty unless it failed, which would mean being stranded on the side of the road or crashed into.
My friend was on the highway, travelling along and heard a noise. Then she saw smoke coming from under the car along side drivers door. The car then lost acceleration and stopped. Within five minutes the car caught fire and is totalled out. An off duty lawman stopped to help her. He told her either the fuel line or fuel pump burst and told her we have grounds for lawsuit against kia for faulty design. My friend is in total distress over this incident and deserves compensation for emotional distress. I feel like kia owes me big money too, because I bought car for her to be legal in hauling her six children in car. We cannot afford to replace the car due to high lien on car at time of fire, and yet I feel obligated to provide friend with legal and dependable car for the family's use. Will this agency help us get compensated from kia please? there are records of more of kia's cars catching on fire, even in dealer lots. Thank you.

My car has 73,000 miles and kept well maintained. One day the car wouldn't start. Engine kept turning over and over. I was eventually able to get the car started but it would shake, vibrate, and hesitate while driving. My mechanic said the problem is high pressure fuel pump and it is not cover after 60,000 miles warranty and the part will cost over $850 without the labor. I never had an issue with fuel pump or fuel pump system with a car that has under 100,000 miles on it. This is defect design from kia and they will not cover for it.
Car was parked. Went to start it up to and car wouldn't start. Engine kept turning over and over. First few times this happened, I was eventually able to get the car started but it would shake, vibrate, and hesitate while driving. Eventually, I went to start the car from park and it wouldn't start. I was able to get it started by jumping it, but the vibrations, shaking, and hesitation continued. I took it to the dealership and was told the problem of were the result of low fuel due to a failure with the high pressure fuel pump. While driving home on the highway, the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of speed (I. E. 65 mph to 20 mph) and significant decrease in power, which is very dangerous. Car has 71,000 miles on it. All routine services have been performed on the car at the dealership and oil has been changed routinely as specified.
I was driving down the highway and all the sudden my car gave a big sound and died. The steering was really hard to steer, luckly I was in the slow lane and coasted off the edge of the road. Had it towed to mechanic the started was bad, along with the fuel line and fuel pump. After got it running once again ran fine hour later the crank shaft sensor went out. I have read many many complaints about the same issues, also was told that my fuel tank and bottom was rusting out. And my sway bar is bad. My car shakes, I have had new tires and brakes put on and a new muffler put on. I have had all my oil changes and tune ups. They say there is no recalls, how could there not be recalls here in the USA. They had a class action law suit in canada and kia was made to fix these same issues.

November 6 2015 at approximately 5:15 pm my wife had an accident in our car tour of the front end took it to the repair shop in the body shop after 4 weeks we got the car back after one day the car cut off and would not start again took it back to the dealer he said it was the fuel pump that wasn't covered by the insurance but I don't understand the card never cut off before the accident so why did he cut off after the repair.
When fueling, after about 45 seconds, gas sprays back up and out all over me and the car and the ground. If the fuel pump handle is barely depressed, which pumps the gas very very slowly, fuel will be accepted. Takes forever - tired of gas-soaked clothes and gas-soaked shoes; tired of spilling gas all over the car and wasting on the concrete; - tired of dangerous situation!! need kia to issue a recall on whatever is causing the fuel rejection.

I have had to replace the lights at least three times a year on this vehicle since ownership many times. In addition, I have had to replace the fuel pump 2 and the whole steering system twice also. I was told that there is a recall on the vehicles of my make, model and year but not on my specific vehicle. So im stuck with a vehicle breaking down on me at least once a year that has a recall for other vehicles in the same model and year.

I was driving 30 miles an hour when my car stalled out. I managed to pull over to the side of the road but was unable to get the car to start. The car was towed to the kia dealership where they replaced the main fuse panel and the fuel pump. The service manager said one shorted the other out and that it was a fluke. On 4/7/2013, the car would not start. Again, car towed to dealership where the same problem has occurred. Nobody, can tell me why this is happening and I am really nervous to drive the car again. . If the car stalls out while I'm driving on the highway, it could be disastrous. Kia is saying they haven't heard this happening with other vehicles, however, after coming to this site, it seems to be happening with regularity. Help. What are my rights??.
