While driving on highway, radio on and only connected via bluetooth. The radio screen was flickering and then shut down as if I manually turned off . As this happened the dashboard lights and my headlights shut off. I had to safely pull over and by the time that I did, I couldn't record it for evidence as it rebooted itself. I called right away and had to wait 2 days for appt. This is the 3rd time and rick case kia in sunrise FL keeps giving me the run around. My battery and alternator is fine. I honestly think they stop caring and just give me excuses and tell me they have to wait for mfg decision on my issue. My issue seems to happen when I am driving and cannot be on my phone recording as they want some kind of video as proof . So disgusted with their service and wished I wouldnt have gone with a kia.

I brought my vehicle to the dealership Dec 09 2019 (mileage 56176) as instructed by service tech in order for them to check reason this vehicle is using a lot of oil in between oil changes. Service tech checked oil and found oil was down 1. 25 qts. Service tech opened tech line case and sent pictures to kia. I was instructed to return to dealership to recheck oil level in 1000 miles. Today, Dec. 30 2019, (mileage 57231) I returned to dealership. Oil was down 1 qt. After 1055 miles. If you do the math, engine only holds 5. 5 quarts of oil, if I go the entire 7500 miles in between oil change(as per owner manual) I would be out of oil. Service tech added 1 qt. Oil and put in a sealed dipstick so I cannot check oil level. How am I to know oil level? I park vehicle in my garage. When I questioned tech about this he said it was on kia's liability if something were to happen. I would know when the engine is out of oil, the engine will start knocking, and he made the knocking sound on the counter. That is really helping my husband and I comfort level, if someone gets hurt or killed, what does it matter? there are other people on the roads that could be injured or killed if something happens to my vehicle. My vehicle could catch on fire, cause injuries or death to us and / or others. Service tech would not say what kia is doing about this matter when I asked him. He just said kia is looking into it. He gave my husband and I the impression he knows what is going on, he said he was not at liberty to discuss any further. The service tech also stated that it is up to the owners to check their own oil levels. Now I cannot check the oil level, it has a sealed dipstick. He is contradicting himself, make no sense.

Acceleration. When I accelerate it hesitates to pick up. Very dangerous as I was trying to merge into the highway or merge into a different lane it did not accelerate quickly enough and the vehicles in that lane had to brake hard as I entered that lane almost rear ending my vehicle. Even if I press the gas pedal hard it does the same thing, it hesitates before speeding up. Another issue is the door lock button from both driver and passenger sides work sometimes and doesn't work sometimes. Even when I'm driving the doors would not lock with the auto door lock feature on when vehicle gets in motion. I have to manually push the lock button for each door and when I manually lock the doors that is when the door lock/unlock buttons will work properly. Had children in the back seat and while I tried to lock the door it would not lock. Had to pull the vehicle over to hand lock each door. But very dangerous either way because I can't control what kids will do in the back in middle of the highway and if I try to lock the door I won't be able to.
While driving my car to work after a software update at a local dealership it became sluggish and difficult to drive. I was just coming off a local highway onto a surface street when this occurred. I pulled over and checked the icon on my dashboard in my car's manual. It told me not to drive it so I had it towed to the dealer - 6 weeks ago! apparently the software update they did to protect my car damaged it instead. I have been in weekly contact with the dealership but they are getting very little information or help from kia, who apparently can't figure out how to fix my car. I am now concerned about the damage being done to my car sitting for that long without being driven and now I wonder if this will cause more problems in the future. Not happy with kia's inability to fix my car. I bought it used so it doesn't fall under the lemon law and I need to know if I have any legal recourse. I have made 2 car payments with a third coming up since it has been sitting at the dealer waiting for whatever decision they end up making. The dealer has been great about it and provided me with a rental, but this is all getting old real fast!.

Towed a boat in July of 2018, stopped at a store and the car would not allow me to put car in park, had to look at owner manual to find out had to push a little button by the parking gear for it to shift into park or drive. After we unhooked boat went back to working normal.

First it started with drivers door not working. I can't get in the driver door because the handle doesn't work. So I have been crawling thru the passenger door to get in the car. But now I can't do that because the passenger door won't open from the outside either. You pull on the door handle and it does nothing. What if there were a fire and I was in the car and someone ran up to get me out they would not be able to open the doors. Next problem is I have an extensive oil leak in the car. So bad it keeps dripping down on the alternator whicheck has forced me to replace that twice now. I took it to kia and they said it was the timing chain cover. It would cost 2,000. 00 to fix. I looked online and found out that a lot of other people are having the same issue and it seems the timing chain cover is a misdiagnosis. Apparently the oil sensor is the culprit. It malfunctions because of its location in the engine. I don't have 2000. 00 just to play a guessing game. This problem needs a recall. Lastly, due to the engine issues the oil leaking the car has now decided if I'm driving 60 mph it will all of the sudden shift the engine almost to a dead stop and then you feel as if you will fly thru the windshield because now the car won't go out of fourth gear manually or automatic. Please help.
Assist emergency braking/forward collision system does not work to identify, warn of potential impact, and does not apply emergency braking for another vehicle or pedestrian at any speed as described in 2017 kia Sorento manual. The vehicle does not display any warning that the system is not in operation.
Side lane warning system detects a vehicle when there is no vehicle there. Apple carplay system causes an extreme echo on remote phone, therefore hands free car phone is not possible. It is dangerous to have to disconnect the phone from the usb cord and call people manually.
Problem: intermittent problem with advanced Smart cruise control and autonomous braking on a new 2017 kia Sorento with less than 500 miles. What happened: when using the advanced Smart control feature, as explained to me by the dealer, the manual, and kia videos, the car will stop autonomously when approaching a car at a stop light. My kia stops autonomously most of the time, but not all of the time. On three occasions, while driving with Smart cruise control, on a straight road on a clear day, my kia slowed down but did not stop, causing me to take emergency evasive action at the last second. After two occurrences, I contacted the dealer and asked to simply have the system checked. The dealer stated that they do not handle safety concerns, and directed me to call kia, which I did more than a month ago. The kia rep tried to tell me that the vehicle cannot stop while using advanced Smart cruise control, despite their tv ads, instructional videos, and my own experiences which says the car does indeed stop in the Smart cruise control mode. The kia rep said someone from kia would follow-up, but that never happened. So, afert waiting more than a month, I am filing this report to see if others are experiencing problems with this critical safety technology. Otherwise, the kia operates normally and is a very nice SUV. I just want my Sorento checked out before an accident occurs.
I have been experiencing multiple issues with my 2011 Sorento not starting at all or only starting with the fob in the charger since December 2013. More recently I have had issues where the vehicle won't lock or it locks and then won't unlock until I am able to open the rear hatch manually and then the fob will unlock the other doors. Yesterday I was at a gas station and my fuel door wouldn't open (no clicking sound or anything) until I started the car with the key fob in the charger and then I was able to open the fuel door while it was running. When the vehicle won't start with the fob in the charger, I have either had to use the "unofficial" start method with my foot off the brake and holding in the start button for 15 seconds or if that doesn't work I have had to jump start the battery. My local kia dealership told me that I needed to replace the car battery but I really don't feel that is the issue because there are some days that this doesn't happen at all. I am scared that at some point I will be locked out of the vehicle with my children inside or that I will be stranded somewhere because of this issue. At this point I have only one working fob - I took my car in to the dealer and explained that one of the fobs wasn't working but they told me (after working on all of the recalls for 7+ hours) that the fob was fine. So, I don't even have a backup key.
The 2012 kia Sorento lx awd was purchased new with 233 miles on it. The vehicle's automatic transmission regularly hesitates to up-shift during smooth acceleration while under normal driving conditions (flat roads, cruising speeds), causing the engine to hang in the 3500+ rpm range. When the car has finished accelerating and has reached cruising speed, my foot backs off the accelerator pedal and it still does not up-shift or even coast. Instead, the vehicle drastically decelerates as the engine rpms drop because the transmission remains in the same gear when my foot leaves the accelerator, rather than up-shifting to the next gear. I have driven countless automatic transmission vehicles over the years and have never experienced this phenomenon prior to owning this vehicle. I don?t normally make use of the "sportmatic shift" feature of the vehicle's automatic transmission. However, sometimes "manually" up-shifting with the sportmatic shift is the only way to get the car to up-shift properly to 5th or 6th gear once acceleration is complete and cruising speed has been reached. It seems as if either the transmission or the power train control module is ill-informed or just poorly programmed. Aside from the sheer annoyance of this defect from a driver's perspective, it also is ruining the fuel economy of the vehicle. For a vehicle with an epa miles-per-gallon rating of 21 city/28 highway/23 combined, I have never once achieved true calculated fuel economy of over 20 mpg since owning this vehicle. My driving patterns are approximately 40% city and 60% highway driving. The car is driven in a fairly rural area with hardly any stop-and-go traffic. The vehicle is not carrying excess weight and all 4 tires are inflated to the manufacturer?s specification. I've seen online that several other 2012 Sorento drivers are complaining about this same issue.
