Kia Motor Sorento owners have reported 4 problems related to speed sensor (under the vehicle speed control category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. I was told by the dealer that my wheel speed sensor needs replacing. I checked online and kia issued a recall for this but was told that my VIN# wasn't on the list and I would have to pay for the full repair. I checked a number of online forums and though it seems that kia has issued a recall but then knowingly removed a number of vehicles by VIN# from recall list. The dealer wants to charge me $310 for the sensor and $270 for the labor. This need to be investigated and the company should cover all vehicles issued as they ran a campaign to cover the wheel speed sensor before corruption then purposely excluded vehicles from getting the repair and now has damage to the sensor.

There was a recall in 2017 for the speed sensor on the rear wheels. The sensors failed repeatedly and kia, on the recall just sprayed silicone on the electrical connections. The sensors continued to fail and all the lights on the dashboard continued to stay on. After the so called recall fix, I paid $326. 00 twice for the left rear sensor, and $326. 00 for the right rear. However, kia is not placing anything on the electrical connection to further prevent the failure of the sensors. In August 2020, I paid kia to replace the sensor on the rear and did not drive the vehicle until January 28, 2021. Upon starting the vehicle, the lights stayed on which the dealer states that the sensor was bad. I explained that the vehicle has not been driven since it was replaced in August 2020. Again, I had to pay to have it replaced as the dealer said. When I picked up the car, I asked for the old part, and was told they threw it away. The service advisor refused to look into the trash to find the old part. I called kia headquarters to make a complaint and was told that their system was down and they could not take my complaint. I cannot continue to pay kia money to keep replacing the sensor, of which I cannot access, and they know that it is a defect. I have spent over $1200 since the recall was first issued on the same problem. There should be a permanent fix to this. These wires are underneath the car and exposed to water from rain on the streets as you are driving. Why kia do not find a way to cover the electrical wiring is what I think should be done, and not have me to pay $300 everytime it fails. The recall fix is not working.

Wheel speed sensor, abs sensor, and tpms sensor gave out at 56k. Got in one day and it said I was doing 140 while parked. Before I got to my destination, the abs, tcs, and tpms lights were on. Car was used and well taken care of. If everything wasn't built into the wheel hub, it would be a relatively easy fix. Instead I now have to drive my Sorento with no tcs, abs, or know if a tire is low/flat because a quoted cost of repair was close to 1200 dollars. Nobody has 1200 to get it fixed. After looking at online forums, it seems to be common with 2013-2015 Sorento to have anything abs/tcs related go south. Car drives like a dream, only wish it didn't take 2 months rent to feel safe.
The speed sensor located inside the transmission malfunctioning which means I have to start by shifting 1 and second gear then when the vehicle reaches 40 in will go into 3rd and the d lights up. . . I will only have 4th gear no 5th so the engine is at 3000 rpms at highway speeds! it uses more fuel and oil! been driving it this way for 3 years now!.
