Suspension Problems of Kia Motor Sorento - part 1

The contact owns a 2011 kia Sorento. The contact stated that while driving 15-20 mph, the axle popped out of the transmission, and fractured the lower ball joints and steering system. There was an abnormal burning electrical odor coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The local dealer was not contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

Left rear sub frame cracked in half while driving car . 2017 they did work to the under belly in reference to corrosion of the car . Has therr been any other complaints about this vehicle type ?.

Kia failed to take accountability for rods related to oil pan and engine damage defect on this vehicle. Did not offer other safety options and did not give any warning signs. I have all my receipts and maintenance on vehicle that I did maintain my vehicle responsible and this was a kia vehicle safety issue on manufacturing. I did not receive any warning or lights on my dashboard and I have all my oil change receipts. Please see all attached documents for my complaint. All kia customer service was concerned with was warranty when this is a manufacturing product defect of this car not being put together properly and my vehicle has been serviced over years at a kia dealership and no one has ever told me my vehicle was not maintained. Kia corporation won't even investigate or even move forward in any direction even with all my receipts reports and evidence to submit my claims are true.

3 different episodes SUV will start by appear warning lights downhill, slippery road, abs, engine , decrease speed, shuts down, tire pressure finally battery dead and rubber smell. I've had it fixed once mentioned it was altarnator, second time battery, finally third time something electrical or unknown. Total cost now $3000 and my life in danger al 3 times and towec.

Was driving to the store for groceries with my 2 young children, when my car just stopped accelerating and the engine seized up on a local road. Had noticed a ticking and knocking sound when accelerating a few prior and a weird sound coming from the suspension but it was dismissed by the dealer. Had the vehicle towed to my home and had to tow to dealership as it would no longer turn over at all. Received a recall notice but apparently it doesn't apply to my vehicle because I had oil, coolant and no leaks anywhere. Only had 127,000 mold and this is the 4th issue I've had with this vehicle. 1st was rats chewing all my wires, 2nd was the rear differential, 3rd fuel pump, and now this.

My front driver seat slips out of recline position to another position on its own had engine replaced, got car back, made humming noise, took back to dealer, could not find noise, car still makes noise and now there’s seems to be louder noise coming from steering or front suspension while car is driven, dealer claims with no extension of warranty and over 60,000 miles, any work for this issue with steering/suspension is not covered, this was not an issue before engine was replaced under the engine recall.

The suspension mounting block rusted off the frame and the frame rusted into on the passenger rear side of the car it was good that we were running slow close to the house when it happened if that would’ve come loose at highway speeds, the car would probably flipped the vehicle is now undrivable.

Transmission, shocks and struts had to be replaced. Kia was having a hard bump knock when it changed gears driving down the highway, we had it looked at several times by the kia dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong. Eventually had to replace the parts above.

Brakes feel softer, rear brake burnt smell, replaced brakes one month ago. Headlight and taillight bulbs replaced several times in last 3 months due to blinking blowing replaced and starts over again. Screen will not turn on until car has run for 45 minutes. Cannot use back until screen turns on. Leaving car parked until I can get brake system fixed. Noticed brake light on dash and car with swerve light on dash. Too scared to drive until at least brakes are fixed. Reached out to dealership. No part available for recall which most likely is failing my brakes.

Brackets associated with the rear axle rusted and cracked. Became unable to drive safely. Back wheels started going crooked(top was inward and bottom was outward).

My 2012 Sorento had the voluntary safety campaign sc141 for additional anti corrosive material performed in 2016. The vehicle had already been driven for 5 years in one of the “snow belt” states they listed. Dealer said no other action needed except the additional undercoating. Now, my rear crossmember is completely rusted and away bar has broken loose. Am going to contact kia as I feel this should be replaced by them for not catching the issue before.

Transmission / or gear shifting.

While driving on freeway, approximately 70mph, on my way to work, I all of a sudden without warning was unable to control my vehicle with the steering wheel. Somehow I seemed to have lost control of the steering wheel and the vehicle spun around. I could have collided with another vehicle or could have been hit by oncoming traffic, but thankfully I was not near to any other vehicles at the time of incident. I was unable to drive it afterwards as the entire back left wheel was completely detached. I had to get the vehicle towed back to my house then eventually to kia. Kia will not admit faulty equipment although that is the only explanation of the incident that happened on the freeway. The entire left rear suspension system has to be repaired. Althought there are no signs of a collision with the vehicle, kia and the extended warranty company is attempting to place blame on me being in a collision, which is 100% inaccurate.

Rear control arm weld broke drivers side. 18 year old lost control on interstate at 70 miles per hour. Was spinning around and avoiding hitting a steal fence, steal beam and wall. Hello my name is annie shambry. Approximately July 24, 2020 my 2015 kia Sorento practically stopped performing on interstate 20 highway nearly having to Dodge an accident. At first, I noticed a burning scent which I thought was just in the air until my car started to slow down by itself followed by coming to a complete stop amid 70 miles per hour traffic. I had my car towed in to the nearest kia dealership which was located in meridian mississippi. Upon my arrival I was told by service department manager monty that my 2015 kia Sorento had engine and transmission recalls. However since this date I have continued to have issues with the abs transmission system and engine. I took my car back to kia dealership in meridian mississippi and was told that they were no longer responsible for the recall issues. I paid out over a thousand dollars again on approximately February 9th, 2022 for repair work that should have been covered by warranty. . . Only to have the same issues to reoccurr this year. I have grown infuriated with this service department at this meridian mississippi kia dealership!!!.

Engine shut down.

For awhile now the suspension seems to be worse. Almost every time I go around a corner either to the left or to the right there is a clanging clanging noise. It seems as thought the car is falling apart coming from the back of the car.

Rear suspension rusted from chassis. Google search shows multiple people with same issue. Issue making car unsafe to drive. Car has extreme rust problems.

Vehicle front k frame is severly rusted causing concerns with front suspension stablilty.

The rear suspension cross member on my kia has cracked in two places. This item has been recalled on other kia Sorento's. The NHTSA campaign id is 16v480000. This is a factory defect but kia says it only applies to a cetain number of VIN numbers. Kia needs to apply this recall to more VIN numbers, especially the parts that have cracked. As kia says in its recall, this could cause a serious accident if the suspension gives out.

SUV started making a strange noise and the rear started dragging before 70k miles. Needed a new axle and a rear differential. Total cost was $3800. 00 and not covered under warranty. The rear differential oil wasn't even due to be changed yet.

I purchased 2017 kia Sorento in 2020. I have to put 2 quarts of oil in it once a week. I noticed it around 2022. I get the oil changed on the regular. The engine is starting to rattle, and my oil light does not indicate when the oil is low. So, I have to check it constantly. The under-carriage rattles excessively. I've taken the SUV to dealership and they are telling me that they cannot find anything wrong with it. I am at a loss. Plus, I am still paying a note on the SUV.

Bought the vehicle brand new in late 2021, and began noticing some vibration when braking at any speed. The vehicle at this point has less than 10,000 miles and the brakes are vibrating really bad. The manufacturer has not issued a recall and their best fix is turning the brake rotors and calling it a day. Never had I had such a poor experience with this manufacturer.

We bought a brand new 2020 kia Sorento on 9/12/20. A little after a year we started to notice noises from the wheel hubs. Kia has replaced the tires thinking that was the problem, but it failed to be fixed. We have replaced rotors, wheels, hubs and bearings but the problem persists. The last facility that replaced all 4-wheel hub bearings assembly said that since we have brought the vehicle to 4 different locations and the problem persist that we should write a complaint to NHTSA. Gov. We feel unsafe to drive the kia due to the noise which is very loud. There are no warning lights on in the vehicle. The car is available for inspection upon request. We don't know what else to do or where to go from here since not even the kia dealer has been able to correct the problem.

I purchased my 2019 kia Sorento with 7,000 miles on it. A few moths after purchase, I began having suspension issue with it. My rear tires were being worn out very quickly and a tire repair shop suggested that I have kia dealership check out the shocks, which I did. Kia service center diagnosed the vehicle and replaced the shock absorbers due to leakage. Almost 2 months later, I took my Sorento back to the same service center due to loud squeaking noises and the up and down of the vehicle anytime I drove over the smallest hump or bump in the road. Kia found that the strut mount and bearings were coming apart and kia supposedly replaced the sway bar along with the bearings and struts. After one month, I had to take the vehicle back for the same issue. It was supposedly fixed again but a few moths later, the loud squeaking came back and has gotten worse over time. I took my truck to kia again for the same issue and they are now saying that the sway bar bushings have went bad. Well they supposedly just replaced the old sway bar last year and it is already needing new bushings. I have searched online and found the front sway bar of kia's to be a major defect problem and consumer's having to continuously replace the front sway bar on their kia. A bad sway bar can not only impede your ability to control and handle your vehicle, but it can also be the cause of an accident. With so many consumer complaints on this issue, I am unsure why there has been no recall on the sway bar and bushings of kia vehicles. Whether the vehicle is new with new parts or the part has been replaced, this is definitely an issue that needs to be investigated immediately.

My kia Sorento was purchased from kia in 2018 - 1st - I had to take the car back to check the rear breaks due to a shaking of the car that happens when going over 50mph. The driver side head light goes out every couple months. Recently the battery light came one, after the battery was swapped (the car still wouldn't power on)- they ran a few tests and discovered an electrical issue. I have tan my VIN for the recall but my car doesn't seem to be eligible for any recalls that mention an electrical issue with the kia.

Abs, traction, and tire warning lights all come on at same time, the tire warning light blinks for a minute or so. I checked for low pressure in tires and it was not the problem vehicle seems to function fine no traction issues no abs issues that I can see or feel in driving, saw the recall for the awd but mine is fwd.

I purchased my kia Sorento in 2020. It was a used 2019 with 7,000 miles. I immediately noticed that it would squeak rather loud and bounce high when driving over very small humps on the roads. Being that I'm no mechanical savvy, I assumed this was normal for SUV's because I've driven sedans all my life. Anyways, I was informed of the issue when going to a tire repair shop asking why my back tires sounds so harsh when driving. I was told that there are waves in my tires due to the shocks. And that the shocks has had to have issues for a while to now change the formation of the tires. I have now read several kia forums and there are lots of kia Sorento owners who have suspension issues close or the same as mine. Another issue is the automatic emergency brake. I was unaware of this feature until one day having to make a sudden stop and the vehicle stopped and shut off on its own almost causing me to be hit in the rear. This event was very traumatizing. I googled this feature and thought that I had turned it off but I realize that I can't make it go away and it is a very dangerous feature to have. My vehicle does not have as much driving experience as I do and I am capable of controlling my vehicle to avoid an accident if I need to without the assistance of a computer which has almost caused nearly fatal accidents by immediate stops or shutting off the vehicle causing me to not be able to control the vehicle myself. Another defect is the powered trunk. Whether I open it from the button near the steering wheel or the button on the rear gate, the trunk will immediately close on its own after opening; sometimes closing down on the top of the head of my children or myself. I selected to disable the "Smart" feature but it does not stop it. The last defect is electrical. I have replaced the same internal light near the rear view mirror, and it continues to go out. This is an indication of an electrical issue and with my kia only having 54,000 miles, further action is needed.

My Sorento has started burning oil. It makes a terrible noise when running. Sometimes the lights for my backup camera doesn't work nor my radio. Sometimes the radio if on, station can't be changed. It is like it is in a frozen mode.

Vehicle is not being driven because the axle is busted. We are not sure why his happened. When I drive the Sorento, it pulls to the right very strong. I am not sure how long it takes fort that to happen, but it happens every time the car reaches a full stop. Also, when I maneuver and make. Turn to the left, it sounds like it pops. It's a scary feeling.

My car begin shaking while driving 70mph on the interstate. I replaced all 4 tires the prior month. I made it home to find the inside of my new rear tires were completed ruined with the wires sticking out.

Rear end rusted to were it could of called a wreck this is unsafe and they should have kia recall these at once there are going thousands of reports of this this just about caused my wife to wreck it is the federal place to recall these at once.

Hi, I get my car fixed at the dealer inver grove kia in west saint paul in minnesota. There is s problem with my suspension. With that being said, the first problem was my sway bar and that was not fixed correctly. I am now hearing the same noise on the passenger side of SUV and they are telling me it is strut. I need to have all information and recalls sent to me. Then dealer is not looking into other problems that the 2012 kia Sorento has right now.
