While driving ( in motion) at night on a major highway, using my low beam headlights and when using my left and right blinker, the headlights go out. This has happened to me twice now and to my son several times. This is very dangerous and will hopefully be corrected by kia.
I experienced headlight flickering and going off completely while driving on my way home from work the night of June 1, 2018. This alarming problem started without warning. After this incident and before my appointment at the kia dealership on June 4, 2018, I started researching this problem and found technical service bulletin ele093 which I took to the dealership at my appointment. After my oil change, I was told no problem was detected with my headlights. I experienced this problem again last night (July 19, 2018) and needed a police escort to get home. This headlight problem is a product liability issue and a factory defect. It is an immediate threat to my safety and welfare and that of my passengers as well as other drivers on the roadway. I use my vehicle to get to my job at night and to transport elderly patients for a variety of services, sometimes to the emergency room at night. In light of the threat of physical harm to myself and others, I have requested that kia handle the cost of repairing this problem as soon as possible since this is not a problem associated with normal wear and tear.
Headlights and instrument panel go out suddenly. This happens both in motion and stationary. Also upon starting the car or after driving even a short distance. Random actually. Very dangerous at night.
While driving at night my headlights flicker a few times then completely go out. It's scary! they go back on shortly after but I'm afraid of them going out completely. I can't believe there is no recall on this. There are many reports of this online.
My headlights go on and off at random. They will go off while driving. They flicker and then go off for a few seconds.
The driver side headlight randomly goes off for days at a time then comes back on for a couple days then off again.
I have had to replace the driver's side headlight three times in the last 2 months. When replacing headlight I use gloves so as not to touch the glass. I researched this problem on the internet and notice that many owners are having the same problem. There should be a recall since this is a definite safety issue. Vehicle was moving when issue occurred.
The driver side headlight will flicker or entirely turn off. We have replaced the bulb multiple times with manufacture products and discovered the electric plug to the headlight is melted. This is a safety issue as we cannot drive at night safely. Each time we replace the bulb it stops functioning in a few days to weeks.
Headlights flickered/ went out while driving at night on interstate. Had to break suddenly, rainy ,had the wipers going, radio on, gps plugged in to auxiliary plug. 7pturned the nob on the steering column on /off, headlights came back on. Went to the next exit. Stopped at traffic stoplight, right blinker, foot on brake, took foot off brake to make right turn, made steering wheel turned to right, lights flickered again. Happened on 3-23-18 9:30pm . Took to my mechanic today 4-1-18 - tcb auto in dallas GA, battery fine, bulbs fine, fuses fine, 3 weeks ago had oil change, new tires. Could not diagnose it. . Advised me online many reports ,even kia doesn't know how to fix it, ifafter bulletin,no recalls yet. . . Put in this report. .
Headlights flicker off for a few seconds when on auto-headlights. Headlights do not flicker when manually moved to on. This has happened multiple times while driving in town and on the highways.
The contact owns a 2014 kia Soul. While driving, the headlights started to flicker and then inadvertently failed. The vehicle was taken to lawrence kia (1225 e 23rd st, lawrence, KS 66046, (785) 856-8700) where it was diagnosed that the wiring overheated and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.
The headlights of my 2014 kia Soul have been flickering on and off while driving or stationary. This has been going on for a few years now. It has been taken into a dealership but after being charged the 80$ diagnostic fee, I was told the issue is due to a defective negative battering terminal connector. The issue is still ongoing even after replacing the negatve battery terminal. This is the most common complaint with this manufacturer. When is kia going to acknowledge the issue and do a recall?.
When driving at night the left driver side head light turns off on it's own after being on for about 4 minutes. The only way to get the light to come back on it to turn the headlight off for a few seconds and then turn them back on. This is not safe at all and can cause an accident.
Low beam headlights flicker intermittently at the same time. This will happen when the vehicle is either stationary or moving, on the street or highway. Road conditions do not seem to be a factor. I usually drive with the headlights on during the day. Vehicle does not have auto-headlights. Have been to dealer three times for repairs. Problem still persists. I have enclosed copy of repair bills(over $700. 00) & a recall article from recall masters. (recallmasters. Com) I realize that the 2014 Soul is not mentioned in this notice but, it has all the same characteristics. I have no idea what causes this to happen. The dealer & I have been unable to induce this to happen. The dealer has not seen this happen. They can only take my word that it does.
The contact owns a 2014 kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph, the headlights were dim and it was discovered that the driver side headlight failed. The contact mentioned that the driver side headlight was replaced previously. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was pending a repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 53,592.
Since I've owned my 2014 kia Soul, I've had to deal with a recall for the a pin (so my steering wheel won't stop working) and my a problem with my axel nut 2/01/2017, which began shaking my vehicle on hwy 16, almost causing an accident. I had that fixed and just had a recall service and realized this was something I already paid for, which I've requested a refund. In between those instances, I had both headlights stop working, in the dark, while I was driving on a poorly lit hwy 302. I had those replaced and the driver side went out again, at night, while I was driving. I was told that the headlight connections were melted. I did some research and this seems to be a common occurrence. With that said. . . This car had a potential issue with rolling, steering and visibility. . . Probably wouldn't happen all at once but you never know. Regardless, I'm starting to wonder how safe this vehicle really is and would hope that kia would be a responsible company and assist with helping the customer remedy these concerns. I really am concerned for my safety and will be driving another vehicle more regularly. Kia told me that since there is no open recall on the headlights than there is nothing they could do. I hope they understand that all 3 of the aforementioned issues are significant but fear my concerns fell on deaf ears. Maybe an official review with NHTSA will keep kia accountable to their actions or lack there of. Thanks for your time. Jeff rose.
The left headlight would work on and off. I had the dealer check it and they replaced the headlight on 12 Dec with a sylvania headlight bulb I provided. After a while the same issue happened again. On 13 Jan 17 they replaced the headlight again. This time with a kia bulb. . Same issue. I had more issues with the lights working sometimes and not working. The light went out again and I took it to the dealership again and this time they found a short. The problem happened when the vehicle was moving and also when it was stopped. Sometimes it would be working when I parked but would not work when I started the car back up again. It was amazing that the dealership didn't trouble shoot the issue the first time. They said the warranty was invalid after we changed the bulb with a non-kia bulb. The dealership confirmed the first replacement bulb was compatible with the kia Soul.
The contact owns a 2014 kia Soul. While driving various speeds, the headlights failed without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 8,587.
When driving with the headlights on they will randomly turn off for a bit then turn on again, but sometimes this requires trying to turn the headlights off then on again. Very dangerous when trying to drive at night. Brought vehicle to dealership where a check was run on it, they were unable to find the problem. I am unable to drive at night until the problem can be discovered.
Headlight was intermittently going on and off. Would work for the first several minutes after turning it on for the first time in a day, but seemed to go out after it was warmed up. Went to change the bulb and discovered that the plug that the headlight bulb plugged in to was partially melted and brown, as if it had overheated or caught on fire briefly. Dealership replaced the headlight assembly under warranty. Notes from dealership below: complaint c/s pass headlight is out and the outlet is burt check and advise cause found internal connector to bulb burnt/melted. Has original headlight bulb. Inspected for broken wires- found none correction jco headlight assy, under warranty.
Headlights go on an off.
