My car was going approximately 50mph when it rear ended a stopped vehicle in the middle of a busy highway. Then my car was rear ended seconds afterwards. My car was scrunched (totaled), both front and back, and the airbags never deployed. Had the airbags deployed, the injuries to the driver would've been much less severe. I have huge concerns and doubts about the safety of this model. I don't think the airbags in this model propertly function.

Hit a stopped usp delivery van on a major road as he was making a delivery. I swerved to the left and hit the left rear corner of his vehicle with the right front of my kia Soul. The vehicle became slightly airborne and turned more than 90 degrees, almost facing the oncoming traffic. My head went through the windshield causing severe lacerations to my forehead and right side of my face indicating that the airbag did not deploy in time to prevent substantial injury. Although the airbag did deploy at some point, there were no visible indications or pain that the airbag did in fact make contact with any part of my face.

While driving on a rural highway, my son swerved to avoid a deer which had entered his path. Failing to regain control of the vehicle, he entered a roadside ditch with a steep embankment. The vehicle struck the opposite side embankment on the left front quadrant which resulted in severe damage to the vehicles front end. (the damage caused is nearly identical to the crash test provided on the iihs's website in which the drivers side airbag deployed). Our drivers side airbag failed to deploy. Upon striking the opposite embankment and receiving the front end damage, the vehicle rolled completely at least one time. (according to the kia website, the side/curtain airbags should have deployed), however, that failed to happen as well. Fortunately my son was wearing his seat belt, and walked away with minor injuries. The vehicle was purchased due to it's safety rating. No airbag deployment in a kia Soul front end/rollover accident!.
