Last year I took my vehicle to billion auto in iowa city (2 hours from where I live) to get my recall serviced. At this time my vehicle was losing power. When I took it to the dealership they had it in and out in 15-20 minutes and they said only had to do an update. Which was irritating, considering I had asked them to check my catalytic converter and they didn't. Because prior to that a mechanic in my town thought something could have been wrong with it. Well here I am in 2020, and I went back to this dealership (this is the only kia in my area). Last year in may there was a recall for the mdps coupling. The letter also stated that they extended the warranty to 100,000 miles- I'm right around 96,500 miles so I am still covered. I called the dealership and asked to get it fixed since I was experiencing noises in my steering wheel turning left or right/ and when vehicle is stopped. They said yes, I spoke with the service advisor and he told me that I would be covered. So I took my car up there Thursday the 28th to get this serviced. Another worker told me in person my coupling wasn't that bad, and I could always come back in the future to get it repaired. He then further told me that my power-steering rack was making a little noise too, but that wouldn't need to be repaired for another 5-10 years. Then he charged me $65 dollars for a diagnostic fee, which is completely wrong. I called kia cooperate, spoke with numerous of folks. I was told on Thursday by cooperate that they called the dealership and told them my complaint. But there was nothing they could do. So I called cooperate back demanding to talk to my case worker, victoria. Which she hasn't called me back. I feel like they aren't taking me serious. I've had two past recalls on this vehicle, and wasn't handled appropriately. I also shouldn't of been charged a diagnostic fee. I want a refund as well.

1-13-2020 driving when a little rock made a chip in my windshield and within seconds a crack about 8 inches long appeared and now the crack is a foot long. When we bought the vehicle we were told our warranty would cover everything, but when we took it in they informed us we only got bumper to bumper mechanical. The person we got it from lied to us about what we were getting and we thought we could trust him. We had to reset the radio because sometimes it would work sometimes it wouldn't, then my backup cam wouldn't work if the radio was on the fritz. Starting 1-17-2020 my kia started surging or chugging like it was going to die on the side of the road. Hopefully this issue has been resolved. This is my first brand new vehicle and I am not happy with the sellers or the vehicle so far. And now my windshield wont be fixed because we thought we could trust the person we bought from at the kia in moline, illinois causing this safety issue and our deductible is more expensive than it would be that to just pay out of pocket.

Around 11:40pm on 12/3/2019 I parked my car in an empty parking lot - car was stationary. It was 51 degrees out and cloudy, but no rain or any precipitation. The car was not running; the heat/ac were not on. No one was around. Suddenly, the windshield in the back (large hatch door window) shattered entirely. It sounded like a shot. Nothing fell on the car, no people or animals were around. The whole window was shattered and crumbling along the edges. No rocks, bbs, pellets, branches, balls, or other objects anywhere. No other damage made at that moment to the car at all. The pane stayed together until I opened/closed my driver side door. Then it started to fall apart. No evidence of foul play. Only 12,600 miles on the car. Checked with the police, but no similar incidents had been reported. Occurred in kirkland, wa. No previous accidents as far as I know. Except a few weeks prior, on the highway during rush hour, a lon crack appeared on the drivers side of the front windshield, starting from the top edge about 9" long. No evidence of rock, debris, or impact.

This problem is strange. I purchased a used 2012 kia Soul this year. I took it to have the 60k maintenance done. The service agent at 2 different places verified and entered our VIN. It doesn't exist in their system. After searching for months for some type of help we found that the car was sold in guam. It is an american standard vehicle. It was verified by both service associates. Now this vehicle may be subject to a recall that has killed people. I can't have the work done because it doesn't exist in kia's system. So now we don't know what to do. No one at kia knows what to do. I have been given different numbers in multiple countries to call. I can't call any of them. It's not available on my carrier or any of the other carriers I've tried. The kia service department staff have failed to provide any meaningful help. We are worried that the car will catch fire at some random point. Our engine light has come on multiple times.

I was driving my 2011 kia Soul on a city street at approximately 25 mph when, at about 8:30 am, the sunroof suddenly shattered. I heard what sounded like a gun shot and felt and saw glass coming down on and around me. I was able to pull over immediately. I felt very startled and shaky, but was physically unharmed. I got out to see what had happened and found that sunroof bowed upward at the crack. Nothing struck my vehicle, on the sunroof, or anywhere else. Driving and road conditions were good. It was a clear and mild morning with a temperature of 56 degrees. Upon researching online, I found numerous other similar incidents documented from other drivers of kia Souls, other kia models, and other carmakers with spontaneously "exploding sunroofs. ".

Sunroof is not usable as it comes off of the tracks. Unable to close tight enough due to damage which promotes leaking.
This was a rental car, the accident occurred resulting from driver error in a dark rural area, sharp s curve and ran off the road into a guardrail and over a slight ditch, then into a fence. Driver was taken to the hospital by ambulance, the front seat passenger hit head on windshield, cracked windshield, and no airbag deployment for either of the front seat passengers. Air bag light was on as noted in police report. Checked for any open recalls for this VIN, however, 2012 kia Soul had recalls for faulty airbags. Interesting.

Sat. 8-24-13, around 3:20 pm, I went out to my 2012 kia Soul parked on the street, in part-shade, in a residential area of centerville, OH. The windows were cracked, and the temp outside was in the mid-80's. I opened my front door & put in my beach bag. I then opened the back door, and closed the front door, when I heard a 'boom'. The back glass on the hatch back exploaded from the middle & laced everywhere else, leaving a hole in the middle about 2 feet wide. Everyone at the scene stated that they had never seen a window break in that way, from heat or whatever, and it was their feeling that it had to be a 'defect' in the glass. I wasn't quite sure what to do, so I called 411 information & asked for the kia dealership in centerville. They gave me the number to the dealership in huber heights. I spoke to the gm, who answered the phone & I explained the situation. Kia has a 60,000 mile, bumper to bumper warranty, that is boasted about as one of the best in the industry. I figured with it being a fluke, and not like brakes or tires that had normal wear & tear, that it would of course be covered. The gm proceeded to tell me that it wasn't, and that they couldn't help me but that I could bring it in on Monday, as the service center was closed at this time. I asked if he could give me the number to the centerville dealership, as they gave me the wrong number. He stated that he didn't have their number & that it wasn't convenient for him to get it either. I stated that it was less convenient for me, as I was on the side of the road. He still refused to help me in any way get the number to the other dealership where I purchased my car. The back window will cost anywhere from $265 - $440 to replace. Wow !!.
I was driving and a pebble hit my windshield causing a chip which turned into a crack. I got it filled at safe lite. 3 days later another pebble hit my windshield causing a crack. In the past 3 years my windshield has been hit & cracked at least 10 times. I have been driving 18 years and habe never had a chip or crack in my windshield. Obviously kia Soul windshields are defective and should be recalled. I should not have to pay out of my pocket the cost of a new windshield.
