Radio/tape Cd Player Problems of Kia Motor Soul

While driving down the highway the car turned off. I was going around 70 mph and noticed when the lights on the dash and radio went out. I had to restart the car while still driving to get it going again. This happened again about 4 days after while the car was stationary and running, again the lights went out and the car had to be started again.

I stopped at stop sign and the car shut off and made a ding sound but radio never disconnected. Not the usual shut off this was different. Then it started but it made an unusual ding sound. Plus, sounds like the transmission is dragging it was a recall and I took the car back for maintenance and now it's doing same thing again plus this time it was whining for about 10 seconds while I was driving.

Car was idle for only 3 days battery was only 12 30 days old car wont start not matter light were on, radio would play air would come on. Car could blow horn and all, car just would get gas or anything at all. Call my tow he jump her and boom she start right away. Went to johnson automative on calder and he did her run she was fine said was battery but I did not have anything on in vechil all she was in my driveway per hurricane laura no filter noithing showed up at all but battery but she only just bought battery last year so hmm.

About 2 weeks ago my car died at a stoplight for the first time. All along there is no indicator lights. Then died while driving 3 days later at 35 mph. I went to an auto zone to get a check on its computer but they wouldn't do anything due to the corona virus. Drove it a few days , it died again at the stoplight . It began to do this every few days . No indication when it would shut off and no indicator lights. I called to see if there was a recall and there wasn't, I also checked online. When it died I would have to wait just off the road or at busy intersections for a few minutes and keep trying. Then after a few times I started noticing it would die at the intersection and then my rpm indicator would not work then the car would shut off while I was driving ,I would fight with it to start or it would start normally and everything worked for a while again. I called the dealer made an appointment, they said nothing was wrong but one mechanic asked what year that there was a recall on other vehicles. . Today June 5th when I was stuck at an intersection I used my phone to record that it started after a few minutes and then when I drove it I had to floor the gas and the rpm indicator wasn't working at all. Then I was driving finally got it to speed and it died in the road at 55 while driving luckily I coasted off the road . After a minute I taped where I was, how the car was pulled off crooked and then it started normally, no indicator lights ,rpm worked and I got home. The car dealer said he probably knew what it was due to the other recalls but it would be expensive. I cannot afford a repair don't want to die either. If other cars were recalled mine needs to be. It's only a matter of time before I am in an accident because my car just dies whenever it wants to. I do not know how to upload off my phone but will gladly have someone do it soon to report it again.

While driving the car in a shopping mall parking lot the vehicle stopped running. The entire electrical system of the vehicle shut down. No electric power in the vehicle would work. The entire electrical and computer system in the vehicle shut down. I was unable to restart the car. The lights, radio and power windows did not work.

The hands-free bluetooth telephone connect system in my car, and all 2017 kia Soul and sedona models with the base stereo system, does not allow hands-free operation with android phones. Only apple phones are supported. To make a call with an android phone one must manipulate either the handset itself, or the radio buttons and knobs in the dash. This violates the driving law in my state and I'm sure many others. It's also exceedingly distracting and unsafe. The sales brochure for these cars clearly states that the system has full functionality with both android and iphone devices. Neither sales, or service managers at the dealerships had been notified of this defect, and were as shocked as I was to learn the facts of the matter. I contacted kia corporate offices in California, and was subsequently called by an escalation representative with customer service, who at least claimed no knowledge of the defect and promised a solution, or they would take the car back and refund my down payments plus damages. After three weeks of no reply to the few gentle messages I left, I finally had a conversation with him where he informed me that - the system is working correctly as designed, it is designed for use with the iphone - he also said that kia was willing to buy me an iphone to settle the matter. This is obviously not a solution. The sales manager at my dealership says that he has spoken with his factory rep about the matter but there has been no comment and none is expected. So I'm compelled to make this report to you, and I intend to, as they say, blow up the internet, with postings exposing this defect and the corporate response. This was provided by the dealer service manager, who like me is shocked by this, but told me today to expect nothing from kia.

The contact owns a 2013 kia Soul. While driving 5 mph, the radio shut off without warning. The dealer (heritage Toyota catonville, 6324 baltimore national pike, baltimore, MD 21228) stated that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure occurred several times. The manufacturer stated that since the vehicle was out of warranty, the repair would be at the contact's expense. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 64,000.

The computer system for the radio had a service advisory instead of a recall, so I wasn't notified by mail. But the problem is that in addition to the radio, it affects the backup camera and eventually the dashboard, making both of them inoperable. The repairmen at Ford kia in richmond, CA tried to play this off like it's not a serious problem. But if the dashboard controls are useless when driving down the highway, and you need to try and pull over to restart the car, that is a problem waiting to happen.

Audio & bluetooth system have failed. Audio system previously failed in December 2011. Audio system just blacked out . Dealership replaced audio system at that time under warranty. At this time there is a loud scrambled sound when radio is turned on and bluetooth does not work either. Googled audio problems regarding this model of auto was found on a you tube demo of exactly the same type of problem experienced by another person in July of this year. The problem turned out to be a failed external amplifier. In doing some further checking on the web found that another person also had their audio system fail at 39,000 miles in 2011. As amplifier was not covered after 36,000 miles he was quoted charges of $114. 00 for a diagnostic eval, $640. 00 labor for putting in a new amp and $825. 00 for new amp itself. In the 2013 consumer reports buying guide the 2010 kia Soul has a much worse than average rating for the audio system. Maybe there should be some investigation done on this audio issue and possibly a recall issued. I could certainly live without a radio but have an issue using my phone without the bluetooth while driving. There seems to be quite a few complaints when looking on the web regarding audio problems on this year and model of vehicle.

Dealership replaced radio at that time under warranty. At this time there is a loud scrambled sound when trying to use bluetooth and when radio is turned on. Bluetooth does not work at all. Loud scrambling sound is continuous with some intermittent radio sounds. I googled audio problems with this model of auto and found a you tube demo of exactly the same type of problem experienced by a person in July of this year. Problem turned out to be a failed external amplifier. There also was another person who had their audio system fail at 39,000 miles. Amplifier was not covered under warranty on that persons vehicle as car had over 36,000 miles. He was quoted a diagnostic charge of $114, a $640 labor charge and a $825 amp charge. I noted in the 2013 consumer reports buying guide that the 2010 kia Soul had a much worse than average rating for the audio system. Maybe there should be some investigation done on this issue and possibly a recall generated. I could certainly live without a radio but have an issue with using my phone without the bluetooth.

The radio froze and I couldn't change the station, program, or use the cd. Next the backup caomera wouldn't work. After driving further, the signals and lights on the dash ceased to function. I didn't drive more than 8 miles going to and from work and to the store. It has reset itself so far after the car sat for 3-9 hours. The kia toll free number referred me to the dealer in richmond, CA where I bought the used car, but was told it cannot be fixed until the car is brought in while trouble occurs. It has happened 6 times since June 26, 2013.

My uvo radio is fine 1 day and the next day it no longer has sound and the clock doesn't work, I have done a hard reset with no results. When researching how to fix, I find out this is a common problem with the kia Souls, why isn't there a recall for so ,any complaints ? I just got in it 1 day to leave home and it no longer will work. . The back up camera hasn't worked forever and I bought this kia brand new and in 2019 when I was washing the kia at the car wash the cover of the backup camera fell off and their is corrosion all over it, I would think from a faulty seal.
