Wiper Problems of Kia Motor Soul - part 1

Sunroof failure, spontaneously exploded. Fortunately I was not driving the car when it happened or could have caused an accident. Went to my car one morning and the sunroof looked like an earthquake for no reason. No damage, car was parked my driveway and was definitely not vandalism. Dealer said to contact kia directly and report the incident to them because they would get nowhere with the factory and I should contact them. I also had a left front drivers door glass break that I originally thought was vandalism but nothing penetrated the glass, no rock or anything found and 2-3 video cameras I reviewed many time and not see anyone breaking the window. Makes me think it is the same problem with some kind of defective glass.

Purchased 2018 kia Soul from kia dealer [xxx] in new hampshire. There was 57,100 miles on the car at time of purchase. The vehicle was manufactured in south korea in may 1, 2017. There is a potential safety issue concerning the absence of the rear view camera. The u. S. Government provided automobile manufacturer's beginning in 2014 a time limit for the installation of these safety devices to be completed by may 2018. Having owned vehicles with the rear view camera installed the last ten years, I would like the NHTSA to investigate this issue which poses a serious hazard in so far as reverse driving and pedestrians are concerned. I believe that is why the rear view camera was ordered by the u. S. Government in the first place. I would like the camera installed or a refund equal to the cost of the installation, labor and price of the instrument. Thank you. Engine does not work properly. It is loud and car shakes. Dealership had me do maintenance and did not fix the problem. Rear windshield wiper pours out fluid and turns on with no reason. They say there is a short however it turns on and blocks my rear window view every while just driving, or using my turn signal, I have to mess with the switch while driving to finally get it to stop.

Less than 24 hours after being purchased as a kia factory certified pre-owned vehicle my daughter was driving. While driving headlights, wipers, and dash lights went out including infotainment/carplay map display on a rainy day. California requires headlights be on when wipers are used. Occurred while doing approximately 25 mph after going over a speed bump. When stopped and key was turned to acc, they came back on. Issue did not return when vehicle was started again. Dealer has said they can find not fault. We have located threads for this issue with other kia models on [xxx] . One common factor is they are key start, not push start models. The rear windshield spontaneously shattered while parked in the driveway and was not running. I was standing beside it when it happened. There was no glass inside vehicle all the glass was outside vehicle indicating that nothing hit the windshield, and nothing was around vehicle that could have hit the vehicle. The vehicle will be repaired tomorrow by safelite as it is a commuting vehicle, and I have no other vehicle to drive to and from work. My insurance is not covering the damage as it is less than the deductible to just fix it.

I was driving my 2016 kia Soul down the road at about 20 mph when I heard a very loud bang that startled me. I looked behind and to the sides and nothing but when I looked up, the fixed panel in the sunroof had shattered but not yet fallen in. There are several lawsuits against kia for the sunroofs, including through gibbs law group and a case in canada. They continue deny responsibility for all their defects despite their cars catching on fire, getting stolen, stalling out, rolling away and having exploding sunroofs. Nhtsa has to do something to stop kia and Hyundai from continuing to sell cars in the us or hold them responsible for the numerous defects.

Safety at risk:yes lack of visibility problem has not been reproduced by dealer. Smells are only warning signs: smell is like rubber but not very strong. Warning signs of the problem: turned on heat and extremely hot heat came out of vents; turned a/c and extremely hot heat came out of vents in both cases turned the vehicle off. After 5 minutes, I started to drive with a/c later there was still hot heat coming out vent since I had urgent appointment. After the appointment, over an hour, drove car and a/c worked fine. : April 16th, turned on defrost for front windows. Instead of defrost, windows fogged up completely and I was unable to see and pulled over to side of road. As I pulled over, black smoke came out of a/c vents and began to fill up the car with black smoke. There is a smell that happns right before the smoke comes out. April 17 took to classic kia. Unable to find the problem. Vehicle returned to me. :April 18 drove 4 miles. No problem. Drove 12 miles. The smells started and black smoke started coming through a/c vent and I drove home and parked. Called dealership told problem.

Just driving to the mall, when at a red light the engine service started flashing. . . Next day took it to jiffy lube to have them check, and they said it's the engine. . .

When you press the break the car stalls, when you fuel up the car it will not start. Autos unlimited in rolla, mo sold it as inspected with "" nothing "" on the inspection sheet. This dealer is claiming they will "fix: this issue. It cost me 480. 00 to fix it. --- evap canister purge vent- evap leak- fuel malfunction- canister solenoid.

I bought car being financed in sac,CA. August 8, 2023. Took back referred to mechanic round corner. Brake rotor issues fixed front this was August 14 noise still exist took back turned back rotors scraping noise pulling to left took to other automotive repairs ,inspections shocks original 2010 208,000 miles , brakes rotors scratches need replacing , pads, sway bar crack or been welded, sway bar link needs replacing crack control arms bushings cracked,windshield wipers needed replacing, check engine light I replaced coils and spark plugs, valve cover gasket leak ,front tires worn . Brakes sway bar axle issues could have have tragic accidents rollover cause injury to self passengers pedestrians and other vehicles. Even though car sold as is there's safety issues that should had been addressed before sold to anyone . I been to midas, les schwab, aaa inspection jiffy lube, orange grove automotive, sales person said I need to take to another mechanic they use in elk grove sine the mechanic they been using not fixing properly or in denial what's wrong, he said they aren't mechanics it's illegal that I brought car back to lot . I left it there feel unsafe after finding out what all wrong when mechanic said stop noise and salesmen said help me if I take to their people . I don't want car cause what else been overlooked it's about moneys I've spent rentals wage losses safety first neglected . I feel they need to make deal right another car comparable in performance safety what this car suppose to be or give me $1500 back quash deal cause I don't like disrespect they have given me to be professional defrauding me not concerned my safety just$$$. Then say I illegally left car in lot but not that they illegally sold me an unsafe vehicle. I got full coverage insurance before taking car.

Carmax sold a recalled vehicle in 2019 in 2020. Kia has still improperly repaired the vehicle the car is still doing the exactly same thing it was doing. That lead to the repair. After picking within the hour the engine light came back on and had been on ever since. I now have electrical issues with the window since kia napelton of elmhurst repaired the vandalism the wiper is malfunctioned at pick up. I want a refund the vehicle is a safety issue mechanical and for theft.

The car was recalled in 4/2019 for a repair. I purchased the car 8/2020. The repair indicated catalytic converter assessment to ensure that the engine did not need to be replaced. It was not checked or verified. The recall was insufficient done and the car should had never been sold. And the recall was not completed prior. I took the vehicle in to complete a recall on a hazardous vehicle. Kia had my car for a month and half replacing the engine and within hours of picking up my car the engine light came back on. The car is still doing the exact same thing it was doing leading up to original repair. That kia was suppose to had fixed. The car is also a theft safety issue as targeted I already paid 2700 for theft vandalism. The car is targeted and unsafe.

The rear windshield in my 2014 kia Soul shattered upon getting into it and just closing the driver’s side front door. The car had been parked for about 11 hours and was not running at the time - I hadn’t even started it yet. There was no sign or indication of anything or anyone hitting the window. I am now finding a number of posts online where this is happening. One person posted that their kia Soul rear window shattered twice in 4 months! I live in rhode island and it is December so temperature shifts can be pretty extreme at times and my kia is usually parked on the side of the road in full sun. I’m just glad no one was hurt and this didn’t happen to me while driving on the highway. I am the second owner of the vehicle and I bought it with low mileage. I also pretty rarely open the hatch back and always try not to slam any of the doors although it does happen occasionally especially when joined by other passengers. This does appear to be a fairly widespread issue and I hope that kia is forced to fully address it as it does pose a potentially dangerous safety issue.

On a rainy night, I lost all external visibility due to excessive condensation on the front windshield and the other windows on the car seemingly made worse by utilizing the DE-fogger on my car. Of the result of this, I ended up in opposing lanes of traffic and narrowly avoided head on collisions with several vehicles. I am a professional driver with thousands of hours behind the wheel and I know how to react in nearly every emergency situation due to advanced experience and quality training. Upon further research, I discovered that this issue is amongst the more commonly reported complaints on the Soul forums most commonly attributed to a design flaw in the air conditioner drain where the drain line is built too small and tends to become clogged. Component failure: ac drain line. Safety risk: complete loss of external visibility resulting in high potential for a head on collision with opposing traffic. Reproduction: unknown. Inspected: no mils illuminated: none.

When switching from ac to heat, moisture starts spraying from vents, rapidly dripping on floor and completely fogging up windows causing zero visibility. I was forced to pull off roadway for fear of a collision. It then takes at least ten minutes for the moisture to stop and the windows to clear. This happened a year ago at the same time when the weather is changing from warm days using the ac and then using the heat on cold mornings. The dealership charged me to replace the cabin air filter which did not fix the problem. I have seen this complaint by other kia Soul owners on a number of public internet sites.

Rear windshield spontaneously shattering - 11:10pm est August 20th. I left my residence and approached my car from behind in the parking lot. It was dark but my rear windshield was definitely in one piece and had not previously had any damage. I opened the driver door. As I sat in the seat, I heard what sounded like pebbles spilling. I looked behind me and noticed that the entire rear windshield had shattered and fallen out. This could have caused great harm and surprise especially while driving on the freeway, or with passengers in the back seat. A police report was collected.

While driving down the road in wet weather conditions. The vehicle lost all power, lost wipers and headlights. Happened on interstate while traveling at 65 mph. Vehicle stated key wasn't detected in car. While in motion using other vehicles headlights was able to get over to the side of the highway thankfully. Vehicle was towed to dealer for assessment.

Brand new car with 6k miles and when it rains the headlights fill up with so much moisture it's blocking output from the light and causing flickering with the bulb interminably. This is causing me to pull of the road during rainfall and at night and I was informed this is normal for kia from the general manager at wesley chapel kia in wesley chapel FL. Kia refused to replace the headlights under platinum warranty on a new car when they have a TSB out about the same issue.

The passenger inside door handle is pealing and sharp the coating that's on the handle is coming off. The windshield wipers always making a horrible sound even when they are replaced.

The contact stated that the head light flicker on and off intermanently as the passenger side headlight failed to operate properly, the driver side headlight failed. The vehicle was taken to independent mechanic who inspected the headlights. The headlights were replaced 3 additional times as the failure reoccurred on the driver side. The dealer 5633 john muir dr, newark, CA 94560 was contacted and informed the contact that no recalls were under the VIN and to bring the vehicle into the dealer. The contact schedule an appointment for oct 14 ,2020 the failure recurred multiple times as the technician indicated to the contact that this could be a failure with the electrical system. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. However no further assistance was taken. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000. Ck.

The contact owns a 2020 kia Soul. The contact stated while reversing the vehicle and depressing the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, the brake pedal was rigid and failed to stop the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact turned off the vehicle to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that after restarting the vehicle, the brake pedal operated as needed. The contact stated while the vehicle was in park(p), the message to shift to park(p) was displayed. Additionally, the oil pressure and charging warning lights were intermittently illuminated. The contact stated that the front windshield wipers failed to work intermittently. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer; however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure persisted. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

1-13-2020 driving when a little rock made a chip in my windshield and within seconds a crack about 8 inches long appeared and now the crack is a foot long. When we bought the vehicle we were told our warranty would cover everything, but when we took it in they informed us we only got bumper to bumper mechanical. The person we got it from lied to us about what we were getting and we thought we could trust him. We had to reset the radio because sometimes it would work sometimes it wouldn't, then my backup cam wouldn't work if the radio was on the fritz. Starting 1-17-2020 my kia started surging or chugging like it was going to die on the side of the road. Hopefully this issue has been resolved. This is my first brand new vehicle and I am not happy with the sellers or the vehicle so far. And now my windshield wont be fixed because we thought we could trust the person we bought from at the kia in moline, illinois causing this safety issue and our deductible is more expensive than it would be that to just pay out of pocket.

The vehicle was the manufacturer was contacted who provided case number 13504218 however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 6,000. The contact stated that the failure was due to a design flaw. The insurance company provided claim number 334243420 ap.

Had just started driving straight on a neighborhood street, hadn't even shifted into 4 th gear, and the rear window spontaneously shattered. No intense heat or cold, no flying debris.

When driving speedometer drops from. 65 to 20 was told catalytic converter is clogged needs replaced only has 66,000 the year is 2015.

Head lights, a/c, power windows, sun roof, wipers and horn all stopped working at once. It was on a hot day. Then all just started working after car had cooled down. Same thing happened once before, sometime in late June or early July 2017. I took the car to the dealer afterward but they couldn't help.

Front glass panel of sunroof shattered and far right/left corners are caving in.

Wall triana hwy madison was being paved on Wednesday 2/27/19. They had sprayed some type of liquid tar on the road for prepping. My car is covered with the black substance and I am unable to get it off. It has covered my rear window and back of car. It is also on my side door panels and under my vehicle,tires and rims. This is a brand new car.

Where do I start, my 2012 kia Soul has about 86,000 miles and has experience issues over the past few years. It started a few years ago where I changed my left brake light and discovered it was an ongoing issue where bulb is burnt and have to replace about twice yearly. Second, sometimes when I go to crank my car it would start faintly then stall out and I will have to retry again until it cranks correctly. This having also been occurring for a few years. Third, within this past year I've experienced a/c control problems. When I go to turn it on it wont do anything,no defrost/blowing/hot/cold nothing. Then I would proceed to keep trying to turn off and on and out of no where it just starts on its own. Sometimes it's scary especially when I need to defrost my windows and it decides not to work. Took it to sun auto repair shop and they couldn't figure it out and said and I quote "it has a high failure rate", whatever that means. Fourth, the passenger side window will not respond to the driver side control button. Dont know if it's an electrical issue. This has also started within this past year. Finally, about a few months ago my steering while started making this annoying clicking sound when I turn the steering wheel left to right . That is while driving and parked or stopped. It just keeps clicking every movement, bumps and turns. Suddenly I recieved a letter about this given warranty recalling my vehicle to get fixed. Now I'm questioning whether or not if my other problems are common in other vehicles and is on the roll to recall.

On a trip, I was driving on a cold, rainy night and the windows began to fog up so I turned on the heat/defroster which caused all the windows to quickly and totally fog over. The right side was spitting water on to the windshield this was so bad that I had to pull over to the side of the road. It took over five minutes for the windows to clear even after I turned on the a/c and was wiping them with a towel. I did a test the next morning when it was not raining but cold and damp. I started the car and turned on the heat/defroster. All the windows and even my glasses fogged over. It was over ten minutes before the windows cleared even with the a/c on and using a towel. Usually after a rainy night or when there is dew in the morning, with the vehicle in park and stationary at my home, the head lights will not turn on and the windshield/back glass wipers will not work. After turning the wipers on and off several times they may come on for a moment and then will not operate again. Dealer has been unable to duplicate issue twice so far. Has less than 6000 miles on it. It is now dark when I am leaving for work and this is a huge safety issue since I can not drive it with out head lights. It is also illegal to drive without headlights/wipers in the rain where I live.
