As I was driving across, with a green light, a six lane (plus additional turn lanes) city street at perhaps 25 mph, a driver running her red light struck my vehicle broad side on the passenger side. I do not know her speed but can say that the passenger side airbag and both front airbags deployed, the speed limit on the road she was traveling is 40 mph. The reason for this report is that the impact caused the rear view mirror to snap off and become an airborne menace. The mirror gave me a large lump just above my right eye and caused a contusion on my right cheek that after bleeding profusely needed four stitches to close. I was lucky. The jagged edge that cut my cheek was only a couple inches from my eye and potential blindness. The mirror's (model ztvhl3) physical connection failed at the juncture of the ball joint against the windshield and the metal conduit at the rear of the mirror. The metal was unable to withstand the force of the side impact and torqued out of shape. The wiring alone was unable to hold the mirror in place, and the mirror went airborne.

Kia uses soy based coating/insulation on all their wiring & hoses, making it susceptible to being damaged by rodents. The windshield washer hose on mine was damaged due to rodents. After doing more research online other people have complained about more important components being damaged by rodents as well, and kia stating it was not covered under the manufactures warranty, and/or it wasn't their fault. My car was damaged by these rodents while sitting parked in the parking lot of my apartment building.

Open the door to go to work closed the door and the back window shatted this happened first thing in the morning car was parked all night.
When making a turn of changing lanes when turn signal is set once it resets all lights turn off or high beams flash turn on/off and have to move or play with turn signal handle for the lights to turn one again. Note while driving on freeway and changing lanes at night I set the turn signal to change lanes and when it reset all lights turned off leaving me driving in the dark and my family safety was at high risk. Something is wrong with turn signal handle causing a short, note that some times instead of lights turning off the high beams flash on/off.

Since I've owned my 2014 kia Soul, I've had to deal with a recall for the a pin (so my steering wheel won't stop working) and my a problem with my axel nut 2/01/2017, which began shaking my vehicle on hwy 16, almost causing an accident. I had that fixed and just had a recall service and realized this was something I already paid for, which I've requested a refund. In between those instances, I had both headlights stop working, in the dark, while I was driving on a poorly lit hwy 302. I had those replaced and the driver side went out again, at night, while I was driving. I was told that the headlight connections were melted. I did some research and this seems to be a common occurrence. With that said. . . This car had a potential issue with rolling, steering and visibility. . . Probably wouldn't happen all at once but you never know. Regardless, I'm starting to wonder how safe this vehicle really is and would hope that kia would be a responsible company and assist with helping the customer remedy these concerns. I really am concerned for my safety and will be driving another vehicle more regularly. Kia told me that since there is no open recall on the headlights than there is nothing they could do. I hope they understand that all 3 of the aforementioned issues are significant but fear my concerns fell on deaf ears. Maybe an official review with NHTSA will keep kia accountable to their actions or lack there of. Thanks for your time. Jeff rose.
The contact owns a 2015 kia Soul. While driving approximately 30 mph with the windshield wipers activated, ice fell onto the windshield and caused the wiper blades to stop functioning. Moments later, electrical smoke was present inside the vehicle. After removing the ice from the windshield, the vehicle operated as normal. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 4,900.
Vehicle had been parked in driveway overnight. Temperature had been at or slightly above freezing overnight. When driver entered vehicle and shut driver's side door the rear window exploded outward from the center of the window down to the point of the rear wiper. Outside edges of window also shattered/disintegrated along the outside edge of the seal.

The vehicle was taken the dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear glass needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The VIN was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 23,195. Jw.
My car's heater assembly control has failed and in doing so my car's heater defaulted to cold and face making it impossible to defrost the windshield. Kia wants an astronomical fee to diagnose the problem and even more for the part and installation.

Car was parked under carport. I came back to car rear window had exploded no indication of foul play. Replaced 8/24/15. Then again car parked under carport exploded again 2nd time 10/09/15. When it explodes looks like someone crawled in hatchback and pushed glass outward, glass company safelite can not figure out what is causing this.

Complete window visibility blocked by severe fogging within ten seconds at 60 miles per hour at night,my wife was driving and slammed on brakes and avoided a potentially severe crash, now if this happened to us someone must have been killed in a incident like this, the kia dealer had to replace the hvac temperature sensor the failure of this sensor is life threatening when driving this needs to be corrected with a unit that cannot fail my car mileage was only 3,200 miles and this happened,( how many deaths have happened because of this needs to be investigated !!!!.
Was driving down an interstate on a July afternoon. Temperature in the mid 90's with ac set on 72. Driving with no cars around at 60mph and all of a sudden hear what sounds like a gun shot. I looked around to see if I could see anything wrong and did not see anything until I looked up. The panoramic sunroof had shattered completely. The roof fragments I could see was lifting outward. I called my haircut appointment to cancel and drove straight to the nearest kia dealership. On the way over, the small glass fragments between the actual broken fragments started to fall so I closed the sunshade. Also on the drive to the dealership, some of the broken glass fell out onto the road behind me. Its been 2 weeks and so far no news from corporate kia on replacing my sunroof.

3 problems :#1 the wheel pressure light stays on when idle and when I'm driving it but, my tires are at the same psi. Makes me keep thinking something is wrong. #2 in the winter time the rubber molding around doors sticks bad and starts to pull itself away from the glue keeping it on. #3 during the winter my windshield keeps icing up really bad (on the inside !). I can actually use my ice scraper on it. I expect this on the outside of a car but, I have never had a car do this on the inside, did they forget to seal it correctly?.
I went to my car on a cold morning in January and found a crack across the windshield at the level of the rearview mirror. I do not recall hearing a rock chip prior the crack forming. I consider this crack a safety issue with the windshield cracking possibly because of rearview mirror loading or unusually crack prone windshield glass. Note: the affected parts pull-down in this form is not working. I would have selected the windshield and the rearview mirror.
The inside of my front windshield was full of water. I only had the car since August of this year.
Windshield wipers too slow on fastest speed. Old car had faster wipers. Seat belts hard to click and unclick, very awkward access to seatbelt buckle. Brakes: user force too hard, very fatiguing. When engine starts initial idle speed control not smooth goes up and down yet computer does not log an error. This is more than 50 rpm. American car would probably log error if car did that. Causes car to lurch unexpectedly when pulling out of driveway.
Driving down local street when a stone hit the windshield cracking it. Kia has a bumper to bumper warranty I called them to fix the windshield and was told that it was not covered. I then took the car and had it repaired by a glass company. The repair cost me only 37. 50 but I have never had this happen before in any car or truck I owned. This is also the first new car and foreign car that I bought. I know this happens but! if kia is offering bumper to bumper warranties the windshield should be covered.
Sat. 8-24-13, around 3:20 pm, I went out to my 2012 kia Soul parked on the street, in part-shade, in a residential area of centerville, OH. The windows were cracked, and the temp outside was in the mid-80's. I opened my front door & put in my beach bag. I then opened the back door, and closed the front door, when I heard a 'boom'. The back glass on the hatch back exploaded from the middle & laced everywhere else, leaving a hole in the middle about 2 feet wide. Everyone at the scene stated that they had never seen a window break in that way, from heat or whatever, and it was their feeling that it had to be a 'defect' in the glass. I wasn't quite sure what to do, so I called 411 information & asked for the kia dealership in centerville. They gave me the number to the dealership in huber heights. I spoke to the gm, who answered the phone & I explained the situation. Kia has a 60,000 mile, bumper to bumper warranty, that is boasted about as one of the best in the industry. I figured with it being a fluke, and not like brakes or tires that had normal wear & tear, that it would of course be covered. The gm proceeded to tell me that it wasn't, and that they couldn't help me but that I could bring it in on Monday, as the service center was closed at this time. I asked if he could give me the number to the centerville dealership, as they gave me the wrong number. He stated that he didn't have their number & that it wasn't convenient for him to get it either. I stated that it was less convenient for me, as I was on the side of the road. He still refused to help me in any way get the number to the other dealership where I purchased my car. The back window will cost anywhere from $265 - $440 to replace. Wow !!.
Tl- the contact owns a 2013 kia Soul. The contact stated that they sat in the vehicle closed the door and the rear window on the rear hatch blew out. The contact stated that all of the glass blew to the outside of the vehicle and no glass was inside the vehicle. The contact stated that the manufacturer had the vehicle picked up, but the contact did not get a response as to the cause of the failure or what would be done to repair the vehicle. The failure mileage and current mileages were 1,000. Rl.
Opened drivers door, got in and shut the door and the rear hatch window blew out. Vehicle is now at delearship and they called to say car is not to be touched because products investigations is going to look at the car before another window can be installed. There are other complaints that are the same as mine and the window broke in shards and splinters uncommon to a normal car window.
I was hit by a small rock going around 40mph which resulted in a chip/crack. In the 3 weeks since then it has happened 2 more times. Speeds were not excessive and the rocks were small. I have never had this happen in 20 years of owning cars until this new car.
I have washer fluid for low temps. The washer lines keep freezing making it impossible to see out of windshield. This is very hazardous, especially in northeastern ohio weather. I called kia and was told by kia that they have been getting calls nonstop about it and there is nothing they can do about it. Apparently the washer lines are not near engine block so there is no warmth to prevent them from freezing in cold temps. This is very dangerous and there should be a recall on this car model ASAP.
In the front range of colorado we frequently get several inches of wet, heavy snow in the fall, winter and spring. We have to park the car outside a garage at home and at work. We always completely clear snow from all glass surfaces and check the operation of the wipers before driving the car. We bought an expensive telescoping combination scraper, brush and squeegee designed for cmvs to clear as much snow as we can reach and see from the white painted roof of the car before driving it. After the interior of the car warms up it appears to loosen the bond between the roof of the car and any residual or newly accumulated snow. Numerous times when under normal braking snow has slid forward off the roof on to the windshield obscuring all forward visibility and instantly creating a severe collision safety hazard. Furthermore, when the windshield wipers are activated to clear the snow the wiper motors are too weak to move the snow requiring the driver to blindly brake to a stop unable to see well enough even to steer the car out of the lane of traffic to a safe place to stop. This happened a few days ago at a traffic light at a busy intersection in slick snowy road conditions during evening rush hour. After coming to a stop without hitting the car in front of her my five foot, two inch tall 68 year old wife had to get out of the car in dangerous conditions and manually remove(for the second time) snow from the windshield while being subjected to honking horns and one-fingered salutes from ill-mannered motorists. Until kia chooses or is required to correct this serious safety issue an otherwise great little car is unsafe to drive in snowy conditions.
Safety issue - passenger front side glass blew out for no apparent reason while parked in driveway. This was a glass defect that would of had greater consequences if this happen while driving and a passenger was in the front passenger seat. Kia (case number [xxx]) refused to take responsibility for the problem and insurance stepped in. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 kia sole. The contact stated that while operating the air conditioning the front driver and passenger side windows would become fogged. Also while using the vent to direct air to the floor, condensation would occur on the front windshield. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who indicated that the vehicle was operating as normal. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 2000. Jft.
Windshield cracked at base of window covered by the wiper not where a rock could access it. The crack has since spread across the entire surface of the window. This happened in March of 2010 after having the car for 4 months. I am unwilling to fix due to the other complaints. This should be recalled and replaced with american glass that is not so soft.
