The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, the vehicle failed to respond. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact merged to the side of the road and the engine seized. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired because the dealer and the manufacturer informed the contact, that the vehicle was not taken to the dealer and the service maintenance was not performed at the dealer. 2 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 04/25/2022

The contact owns a 2012 kia Sportage. The contact stated that the driver was not able to drive above 20 mph. There was a check engine warning light. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure with a knock sensor and rob bearing faulty, numerous times. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number 17v224000 engine and engine cooling. The approximately failure mileage was 170,000.

3 Engine Cooling System problem
