1 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2007 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 08/11/2020

All wheel brake parts were replaced except for brake lines. Within two weeks the brakes at the drivers side front and passenger side rear froze and the car would not move even in neutral? the only way to get those wheels brakes to release was to open the individual bleeder and push it by hand using only the emergancy brake to stop it in the garage. Jacked up in the rear the passenger side rear would lock up when the brake pedal was pushed. Once bleeder opened wheel would turn but lock up when pedal once again pushed. The kia forum online reports this happening on various kia and huyandia vehicles over several years and models! the vehicle locked up while stationary at a stop light! the only reported fix on the forum was replacement of a leaking master cyclinder into the brake booster. I replaced my master cyclinder and found no leak into the booster but am still unable to get brake fluid to feed to the passenger rear brake and thus bleed the air out?.

3 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2002 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 03/18/2013

Have a 2002 kia Sportage. Brake line was leaking, went to mechanic and was informed that the whole frame was rotted away and was not repairable and was unsafe to drive as the brake lines were also rotted and whole car could buckle if in an accident or hit anything. Called kia and was told nothing they can do. Have a 2000 Chrysler with more miles and not a spot rust. Now I need to find a new vehicle ASAP, an expense I can't afford but need to get to work. Kia will not help at all, guess they have our money so we're on our own. This is unacceptable, kia knows about the problem and will do nothing. Have done research online and there are thousands of people who have the same problem. These cars are death traps, if your unaware your brakes can go or if in an accident seriously injured or even death. The NHTSA should force kia to recall these vehicles before someone gets killed or kills someone else. I have seen numerous complaints filed with the NHTSA and domt know why they allow kia to ignore this serious issue. Their are recalls issued for less serious problems, this one peoples lives are at stake. Please do something about this before its too late.

4 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2000 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 07/27/2012

(1) noticed that the fuel tank shield is severely rotted out and is barely connected. (2) smell fuel vapors periodically while in the vehicle. (3) fuel tank appears to be rusting, afraid to mess with tank in fear of disturbing the rust and rupturing a hole in tank. (4) brake lines were so severely rusted in one area that it blew a hole in the line and prevented the vehicle from stopping and required the prompt action for repair. Other brake lines look like they may fail in near future. (5) steel portion of power steering line rusted out and blew fluid everywhere preventing the ability to turn the wheel while driving. (6) the frame has heavy rust scale and appears to be rotting in several place. (7) paint is starting to bubble which is indicating body is rusting under paint job. This is a 12 year old vehicle with very bad rotting of metal from salt corrosion. Have never seen this much rust on 20+ old vehicles that are in the same northern regions of the us.

5 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2001 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 09/28/2011

Stabilizer connected to the chasis rotted from the frame and the brakes stopped working because where the brake line was connected to the frame was rotted. Brought the car to an independent mechanic to find this out. Cannot drive the vehicle in current condition as it is extremely unsafe. I was lucky I wasn't going fast and was able to get the car off the road. People should be notified to have this checked immediately, it could save someone's life.

7 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2001 Kia Motor Sportage

Failure Date: 04/10/2004

My 2001 kia Sportage has a defect in its design. The solenoid, & hoses that connect to it are placed in an area on the vehicle where they are subjected to the elements-&-in harms way of being damaged from normal driving conditions. I do not have the service paper work on me, at the moment (I am at the public library-doing research on kia's many safety issues)-if you need copies of my service records, or any further info-please contact me by mail. When solenoid/hoses failed - I was unaware that my 4 wheel drive was inoperable. There were many times, in the winter months- where my kia would slip/slide-handle erratically in the snow/rain. I have lost track of the times I lost control of my vehicle during this time frame (2001-2004). Now I realize that it was due to the 4 wheel drive malfunctioning. I was lucky enough to have just spun out-with no one else hitting me; thank god for that. The Sportage is very unsafe to drive-when it is raining/snowing-it's wheel base makes it dangerous. The first service manager refused to fix it under kia's 10 year/ 100,000 coverage-so I had to pay $85 to fix it. It worked two more times, and now the hubs are shot (after a mere 29,000 miles). I was naive about kia's record at the time. I have seen thousands of complaints on the internet about kia now- and I want the truth about them to come out. I have contaced kia about my problem(s) many times. They are very smug, and knowlegeable about what they do not have to do for you. If they spent 1/2 the money that they did on having a slick law firm write their 10 year coverage plan-as they did making a safe/reliable vehicle-many people would be much safer for it.
