The 2020 Range Rover, under warranty with 33,200 miles, has been inspected by the insurance and determined to be a total loss due to an electrical failure that caused the SUV to catch fire. The driver and a 4 year old were in the vehicle when the electrical failure started. The fire was behind the child seat, on the rear right hand seat, in the trunk compartment. The risk of serious bodily injury or death to a 4 year old and a female adult passenger was imminent. On may 23, 2023, departed my residence in san diego, CA in my 2020 Land Rover Range Rover (hereafter referred to as lrrr) at approx 8:30 am with my 4 year old son, seated, buckled and secured in his car seat, positioned in the rear passenger side of the lrrr, enroute to his preschool, located at the schwartz federal building in san diego, CA 92101. It is an approximate 12-15 minute drive and 7 miles one direction on both surface streets and highways. The weather was cloudy approximately 65 degrees f, clear visibility on the road and dry. Approx 10 minutes into the drive, we were traveling southbound on interstate 15 and transitioning to highway 94 westbound we smelled something “funny” which at the time I could best describe as burning celery. As I was driving in moderate morning commuter traffic, I lowered the windows and we still smelled the odor, I raised the windows and still smelled the odor and then again lowered the windows with no change and no ability to determine if the odor was internal or external. There were no warning lights/indicators illuminated on the lrrr dash or alarm sounds. At approximately 8:45 am, I parked the lrrr on a public street, parallel to curbside in the area of 904 state street, san diego, CA 92101, exited the vehicle, unloaded my son and left to complete preschool drop off. Upon my return and with the lrrr in sight, I realized the windows were dark/fogged and noticed the interior of the SUV on fire. San diego fire department arrived along with sdpd.

There is a fleetwide problem with the def system in these vehicles that is well known to the manufacturer yet they have failed to address it. The system frequently produces a def error which causes the vehicle to go into a shutdown mode, which can leave the occupant stranded in a dangerous situation.
2018 Land Rover Range Rover hse v6, awd. Two issues: 1. ) when shifting into reverse, the rear camera does not come up on the main screen and you have to shift back into park, wait a few seconds and then shift back into reverse. Sometimes it may take 2-3 times to do this for the rear camera to come up on the screen. I am running the latest software/firmware version that Range Rover has automatically sent out (checked by clicking on "update software" and it says you have the latest). 2. ) when the rear camera does come up, there is a noticeable, choppy lag of the frame rate on the screen. This means that while you are moving, the lag on the screen is delayed and is not real time while you are reversing. This is extremely dangerous as approaching cars or potential humans could come into your reverse path and you won't notice it until it's too late due to the lag/delay of the camera.

A recall was repaired on the vehicle in July 2022. Within 48 hours of repair, a high voltage warning appeared on the vehicle. The vehicle was taken in for service however the service department at Land Rover tampa refused to check the warning because the light was not on at the time the vehicle arrived at the dealership. Approximately 2 weeks later, the low battery warning appeared on the vehicle and every electrical function of the vehicle began to shut down within 15 minutes of the warning. The vehicle was completely disabled and couldn't even have a battery jump or replacement. Aaa was called and after inspection, aaa refused to sell a new battery because the diagnostics determined that the alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle had to be towed twice before arriving to the retailer. The retailer initially attempted the repair the issue and disregarded the diagnostic from aaa by replacing the batteries however it it did not work. The retailer attempted to repair the issue 4 more times prior to returning the vehicle to the owner August 12, 2022. However, at pick up the low battery warning appeared once again and the service advisor stated that the warning would go away after driving. Less than 24 hours later, the low battery warning reappeared, the vehicle immediately began to shut down and the vehicle was completely disabled after crossing 4 lanes of traffic. The retailer towed the vehicle to its service department and attempted to repair the issue again. Unfortunately, the repair did not work and the vehicle was towed again on September 23, 2022 after the retailer was test driving the vehicle. The vehicle is still inoperable as of January 12, 2023. The vehicle is unsafe and Land Rover corporate and all retailers are aware of this issue.
Fuel pump power and fuel level sensor electrical connector has undersized pins and sockets in the 4. 4l and 4. 2l engine equiped full sized Range Rovers from 06-09. The connector located on top of the fuel filter assembly on top of the fuel tank overheats and melts the plastic surrounding the copper feedthru pins connecting the fuel pump to the fuel pump relay. The pins passing thru the male portion of the connector on the fuel filter appears to be undersized. I've had three fuel pumps fail, at least one of which required the entire connector to be replaced on the vehicle (by me).

I checked online and appears this is a major problem for 2006 and 2007 Range Rover hse per the Range Rover forum that has to be addressed by Range Rover 3. Danger is the occurrence of such an event on the highway.

I had backed in to the garage and turned the knob to park. The vehicle was in park, I had removed my seatbelt but not exited the car yet and the car went backwards with some force and breaking didn't stop it, only after I hit the button to cut it off, multiple times, did it finally shut down. My husband was behind the car, getting ready to get the groceries out of the rear. This vehicle struck him and went thru the kitchen wall of our condo. His leg was stuck under the tire which that was turning on top of his calf. I am absolutely certain the car was in park bc not only was the knob set at p but also the p was on the screen. Only certain because I'm always cautious due to the proximity of distance of everything in the garage and tight quarters.

The center display screen turns black and stays that way for long periods of time. The climate control turns itself off and on. The backup display video stays on even after moving into drive and reaching the required speeds. Ive had no response from Land Rover customer service since December 2020.
I own a 2018 Land Rover Range Rover where the airbag warning light remains illuminated at all times on the dashboard, even when the front passenger seat is empty and no cargo is present on the seat. The warning light for airbag indicatesthat the air bag is not activated and will not work in a collision. The passenger air bag has been inoperable for over 2 years. This issue has persisted for several years, with documented dealer service records dating back to before my warranty expired. The dealer (Land Rover of palm beach) diagnosed it as resulting from the front passenger seat movement causing detachment or strain on the wiring harness/connector for the occupant classification system (OCS), which detects passenger presence and controls airbag deployment. The passenger seat air bag sensor or wiring harness is defective and needs replacement for the passenger side air bag to function. They said that all 2018 Range Rover air bag harnesses are too short and are prone to being detached by seat movements / adjustments. They have repeatedly reset the light and reconnected the harness, but the warning recurs shortly after, indicating an unresolved design or manufacturing defect in the under-seat wiring that is prone to failure from normal seat adjustments. This prevents reliable operation of the passenger frontal airbag, posing a serious safety risk as it may fail to deploy (or deploy improperly) in a crash, endangering occupants. The dealer refuses to install a new larger harness or provide a permanent fix, despite this being a known recurring problem reported by other owners of similar l405 Range Rover models. They say that Land Rover corporate is not providing a newer replacement harness and is not paying for the repairs despite this being a serious safety issue. I request NHTSA investigation into this potential widespread defect to determine if a recall or safety action is warranted. This may be the same problem as reported in NHTSA campaign # 11500093 & 11693335.
Vehicle went from park to reverse by itself. Drivers door was wide open when my wife started vehicle and by it self it engaged in reverse and ran the door into a wall. The vehicle almost ran over my wife while she was attempting to exit the vehicle. Luckily she was able to jump back in and push the brake to stop the car. My son was behind the car loading items. Luckily he had moved seconds before.
A lot wrong with vehicle I could only choose 3 problems which is difficult.
When driving the vehicle, the fuel gauge came on, indicating the fuel level is low and illuminates the warning lamp, however the tank actually has more fuel (full tank of fuel).
2016 Range Rover. Consumer writes in regards to mechanical problem. Consumer states that vehicle shuts down without warning.
Front passenger door does not unlock unless opened from the inside; or front passenger door does not lock. Both issues have been ongoing and has been "fixed" by Land Rover 3 times. There have been other electrical failures including the automatic liftgate not working in the past.

Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Land Rover Range Rover. The contact stated that upon turning off the vehicle, a warning light battery low, start engine would illuminate. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where they were unable to find a defect with the vehicle. The mechanic linked her failure to a possible technical service bulletin:loss of communication/battery warning light:q343. The manufacturer was notified and informed her that there were no recalls on the vehicle; they offered no further assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 38,800. Jo.

Safety recall n335, recall was done and door still does not shut, at times opens when driving. It does not shut when one thinks it is shut.
Purchased Land Rover 04/28/2018. The doors unlatch and open while driving, you see the lock light on but the door opens while driving you have to hold the door to make it to your destination this is extremely dangerous!!! called the dealership today and they have no answers and no fix till possible the end of this month he said and that's no guarantee he stated!! what are we to do driving vehicle where the doors swing open while driving?!?! I'm afraid for my families safety with this truck!!!.
There needs to be a firmware update to the transmission shift logic or at the very least if a door is sensed as open automatically place vehicle in park. Backstory. . . . I've owned this vehicle for 2+ years and have mistakenly placed the vehicle in reverse (via the Dodge ram style prndl selector). When this happens I usually catch it before I exit the vehicle. Admittedly it has happened and I've almost been run over by my own car. This is a hugely dangerous issue.
The driver side door latch does not lock and it doesn't respond to the key fob or interior switch. This condition state does not change if the vehicle is mobile or stationary.

I was driving and I got a message saying abs inactive no stability control this happend 2 times already in the past month.
The steering column mobization have gone on it. And the Range Rover dealership want to fix it for 8700. 00 I can't afford it and I'm an elderl. Please find out is there a recall.
The infotainment meant system which is the brains of the car is constantly failing to operate properly. The screen freezes leaving inability to control a/c, radio, bluetooth phone, climate, back up cameras. This vehicle has 4500 miles on it and has been in for service 3 times, it is now back at the deal a 4th time. The computer is erratic and constantly needs to updated. There have been 4 updates since I have owned the vehicle which was in Feb 2018. Landrover is fully aware of the issues but refuses to do anything about it. I have tried repurchase and replacement, which was denied and now I have to go to arbitration with the state lemon law. The cars computer is an epic failure and crosses over to most of the 2018 landrovers . These failures happen at any time , they have occurred while stopped at lights, in standstill traffic, when turning the car on, or just when driving. There is always another surprise waiting when I get in my car.
Tl the contact owns a 2006 Range Rover. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph she saw smoke that came from the passenger side door. In addition when she put the vehicle in gear the side mirrors did not move down or up when she reversed it or went into drive. There were no injuries sustanied and no police report was filed. The vehicle was towed by and unknown company to the dealer. The dealer (Land Rover Range Rover of seattle) diagnosed that the electrical heated windshield had an internal failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 83,581. Jc.
Our new Range Rover is creating a squealing noise from the interior electronics/ac unit. It's similar to letting the air out of an inflated balloon by the spout. The pitch goes higher, lower, and all over like you are moving your hands when trying to make the balloon squeal. Our vehicle is now 3 months old, and has spent 2. 5 months in service. After recently getting our car back, the sound came back right away. The service dept. Is clueless, and already had put over 200 miles on our car "testing it in real world conditions. " every dealership sales & service managers, including general manager of dealer here is hardly helping and clueless. This is from Range Rover newport beach, CA. Now this sound is worse, and makes you want to smash your head through the window; it's basically sound torture. Our windshield wipers have also never worked, which is extremely dangerous. However: 1) when the windshield wipers are set to on, 2) and the vehicle is in reverse, 3) then the rear window wipers come on for some reason.
The contact owns a 2006 Land Rover Range Rover. When the vehicle was started, all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle would not continuously run without all of the indicators illuminating in error. The vehicle was not taken to the local dealer for repairs. The manufacturer was not contacted. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 160,000.
This vehicle was taken back by the manufacturer for electrical issues it was then resold. I just purchased it and it has serious electrical issues. I have owned it a month and it had codes within 48 hours of purchase. System failure codes. The battery is good and is drained every night and every time I go to work. This vechicle is essentially usuless and I just purchased it. It flashes random tire pressure system failure codes when it wants. Just random. It is one thing after another. Luckily nothing super safety related yet. It was manufactured wrong and was never repaired and now I am stuck with a vehicle I can't use after I have made one payment on it.
The first thing that happened was the ac stopped working and replaced the resistor in it twice, the same day it went out a second time the back driver side window fell. The next week I was driving home and was entering the freeway and as I accelerated the vehicle jerked hard and pulled back, and was making a squeaking sound. It corrected but now it keeps doing it. And the brake fluid a week later leaked out and I lost power in my brakes. I am afraid to drive my car!.

Car shipped from florida to pittsburgh. Upon arriving I drove the vehilce on the street and it stopped and had to wait to start again. Vehicle was only able to be driven a mile at a time beofre incident recurred. Abs break late stayed on from the beginning. To start vehilce two wires had to be connected together. Transmission not functionable, starting problem, brake problem and electrical problem. Contacted dealer and dealer denied any problems with the vehicle. I had a mechanic verify all problems noted above two days later. . Relayed the information to the dealership and nothing was resolved.
Takata passenger airbags (recall): sir/MA'am, received a letter via mail from the national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA), recall #16v-374. Also, it may of affected my vehicle's electrical system since my gps dashboard system no longer works anymore. I would kindly ask someone to reach out to me via cell phone so that I can get my Land Rover repaired as soon as possible. Thanks!.
