1 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2007 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 07/29/2016

Takata recall. This car is kept in san bernardino county, California, where there are large fluctuations of temperature and periods of high humidity in both summer and winter. The car is ten years old. The deadline for receipt of new, non-defective airbag keeps getting pushed back. The latest is "maybe this year" (per Range Rover representative kathleen vaccarro, 201 818 8080). When pressed, vaccarro concedes that what it boils down to is that Range Rover has made the judgment that it is ok for its customers to be driving a vehicle with a defective airbag for an indefinite period of time. When pressed, she concedes (as anyone has to concede) that no-one knows the point at which the inflator will have degraded and will explode. If I wanted to go skydiving and trust that the parachute usually opens, then that is my decision. What Range Rover is doing is making that decision for me, against my will. What is NHTSA doing about this? this appears to be about money. However, "money" is not in your name. "safety" is in your name. So where is the safety?.
