1 Power Train problem of the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 12/02/2024

The brakes failed to function while I drove. I almost hit the car in front of me. The brake booster was not functioning. The engine check light appeared suddenly, but with that other messages too, and also that was safe to continue to drive with caution. Just to mention two more messages that appeared on the display were: stability control not available and hill descent control not available. I had to press extremely hard to break the car and of course I had to drive very slowly. I was cough of guard and almost hit a car in front of me at the traffic light. Afterwards I just drove very slowly to my house. I checked the errors on my car and did research (I did not go to the dealership because they just extort money from you). I found out that the auxiliary battery failed. I replaced the battery and reset the system and the new battery information and that fixed the issue. I read on the Land Rover forums similar experience from many owners of this car. I believe there is a serious design flow because the low voltage of the auxiliary battery should not have caused the brake booster to malfunction while I drove. Just to mention that this auxiliary battery is an additional battery, (it looks like a motorcycle battery) and the main one is still healthy. And this is a hybrid (phev) car. Lots of source of energy to power important modules in the car which should not depend on the small auxiliary battery. Plus, the engine was running, meaning the alternator should be enough to power the modules that failed. I was very scared and happy that it was not my wife who drove the car. I have a report that was generated by the diagnostic tool that I use. A lot of errors popped up during that scary drive home. I attached the report I recorded from my diagnostic tool.

2 Power Train problem of the 2012 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 11/18/2024

Gearbox failure. No warning lamps, symptoms or messages prior to the incident. While driving down the road, upon accelerating; the vehicle would not move forward. The shift was in drive. There was an indicating (grinding) noise beneath the vehicle. Had this been on a highway it had great potential to become a severe danger to myself and passengers, or other drivers! found to be transfer case and connecting transmission spline ground to a powder. It was towed to the Land Rover service department.

3 Power Train problem of the 2015 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 04/29/2024

As I was backing out my driveway I heard a loud pop noise and then noticed that my front drivers side tire has collapsed making the car un-driveable. Had I been driving at high speed it could have resulted in a dangerous life threatening situation. It was towed to the dealer for inspection. There I was told that Range Rover in canada and the uk had been recalled for the same malfunction. My Range Rover has only been service by an authorized dealer and was at low mileage for the year of the car. Never had anyone who inspected or did work on the car saw any evidence that something was ready to break. It has since been repaired at a cost of $8031. 68. I reported to Land Rover north America they have declined to recognize any fault on their end and did not provide any assistance for the repair when they have seen this in other countries on my same model and year. Here is the canadian recall #n759 for steering knuckle collapsed.

4 Power Train problem of the 2024 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 03/01/2024

Was on the highway and there was a rumbling noise coming from under the car. It would only happen at highway speeds. (the dealer said this was normal and happened when he trest drive another car of the same model. ) when driving at parking lot speeds and making sharp turns, the car would have a shudder and grinding noise. The car has 5,700 miles, and after taking it to the dealership, they said it needs a new transfer case. When they lifted the car, the part connecting the transfer case to the drivetrain was loose and would move when touched. And there is no eta on the part. Now the car is undrivable, and there is no telling when it will be again.

Failure Date: 03/15/2023

Repeated issues of low cooling warning leading to engine overheating - severely resulting in tow in. Prior Land Rover dealer repair (prior to my purchase under certified warranty) was inadequate, causing coolant crossovers in front and rear to be cracked. Engine overheated steamed close to home, and vehicle towed in to lr dealer in area. Took two months to repair and at time, they thought engine was blown, but assured me repairs complete. Within 6 months, same warning light, took to lr dallas dealer and said no issue. Within 13 months of major repair, taken into lr dallas dealer, and now told I need a brand new engine. Repeated repairs the same engine defect, issue and now lr won't repair under warranty (now) when I was told a few weeks ago, they would repair with new engine. Now, have a completely worthless car, that was certified 2. 75 years ago. Total shop time for all this 5 months and counting.

15 Power Train problem of the 2016 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 05/27/2022

At the end of may, about 10 days after getting my car serviced at the Land Rover manhattan location middle of may, I headed to a short trip with my family. An hour into our trip, I could hear horrible noises coming from the engine, as if the gears were grinding with the engine shaking drastically. As I tried to pull to the side of the highway to safety, smoke started coming out of the front of my car. I got my family out of the car immediately and called roadside assistance. I went to inspect my car while we waited, and I noticed that there was oil all over the front (and rear) bumpers, as if all of the oil had spilt while I was driving. This was extremely strange since there was no light on my dashboard and my car had recently been serviced. It has been a month and a half since the incident and I have yet to get a clear idea of what exactly went wrong and I have yet to receive back my car.

17 Power Train problem of the 2019 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 11/11/2020

I experienced an unintended powered rollaway. Specifically, as I was reversing out of my garage, I noticed something on the ground so I put the vehicle in park to pick it up. When I exited the vehicle, I was standing in the wedge between the driver's seat and the open driver's door, and the car unexpectedly rolled in reverse. I did not hear or see any warnings at any time that alerted me that I was in any danger. I quickly tried to get back into the car to stop it (my 4-yr-old son was inside) and, when trying to get back in, I was pushed out, fell to the ground, and found myself fighting with the door and the tire coming toward my head and body. I stuck my right hand into the car to press the brake pedal with my hand. Ultimately, my right hand fell out of the car, and the car rolled over and crushed it. The driver's door hit my head, which caused a concussion and bleeding. The car dragged me from the garage into the driveway, causing tire burns and scrapes on my body. Ultimately, the car stopped when it rolled down the driveway and hit a post across the street. I was then transported to the hospital in an ambulance, where they ran multiple tests on my entire body and diagnosed my concussion and broken hand. I have since had to undergo reconstructive surgery on my right, dominant hand as the bones in my hand were crushed by the vehicle's tire.

I put my car in park while still running and exited it to grab something about 15 feet away on a front porch. I heard the engine make a noise, I turned my head and saw the car starting to move towards me up a slight hill on its own. I ran to the car, opened the driver door, and tried to stop it but fell. The car ran over my foot and hit the front of the house that caused it to stop. Prior to this incident it was in for service for a foul odor that was coming from inside of my car. They had it in the shop twice and made a repair that did not fully correct the issue. A few days prior to this incident I noticed there was an issue on acceleration. After about 10 miles an hour it would start to hesitate then go into the next gear. I was going to schedule a service for this and then the accident happen. 28 Power Train problem of the 2012 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 11/29/2016

When you shut the engine off and put the vehicle in park the vehicle will keep rolling and not come to a complete stop. To prevent this from happening you have to apply the parking brake. You may be on a city street, garage, parking lot etc. . . The transmission had to be replaced on a 2012 vehicle with 54812 miles. This original one owner vehicle has been maintained by the dealer and the dealer only. No outside mechanics have ever touched the vehicle. This was a safety defect that needed to be repaired because failure to correct the problem could have caused serious damage or possibly death in the event the vehicle rolled a way and hit something or worse hit someone. You don't ever expect to have to replace a transmission on a four year old vehicle especially to prevent a roll a way accident.

I was driving 75 mph on highway on June 1st, 2016 when a loud grinding noice occurred in the front end followed by loss of drive train. Car almost lost control but was able to coast to side of road. The car would still roll while in park and finally had to put emergency brake to stop it. A put in neutral warning came on in dash and I shut the motor off and left on the side of the road. This was a scary and dangerous experience and I would like to know what my options are and if this is a recall what can I do after it has failed.

31 Power Train problem of the 2015 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 05/17/2016

My car has been in 4 times with the same issue, the vehicle will randomly shut itself off, I. E. The car shuts off, the transmission moves to park. It is not ecostart or from my unbuckling the seatbelt. This happens when I am turning into parking spaces and immediately after the vehicle stops, occurrence is 20+ times now. The fault will not save in the computer and Land Rovers engineers have admitted its probably a software glitch but cannot fix if it doesn't show in computer. I have attempted buyback process with Land Rover with them admitting my car has "inherent defects" they will not buy the vehicle back, are unable to fix this and other issues with the vehicle. Land rover claims the issue does not affect driveability.

33 Power Train problem of the 2015 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 11/24/2015

In stop and go traffic for approximately 20 minutes the Range Rover¿s eco mode was engaging properly and shutting down the engine. It had been restarting properly however in one instance the vehicle did not restart and the ¿d¿ indicator flashed. This left the vehicle disabled in the middle lane of traffic. Restarting the engine solved the problem however this could have been dangerous if I had been unable to reengage ¿drive. ¿.

34 Power Train problem of the 2015 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

While driving on a 4 lane road at approximately 40-45mph, my vehicle (5 months old, 6,200 miles) suddenly lost power and rapidly decelerated and would not accelerate. A large warning signal displayed on the dashboard indicating "warning gearbox failure". Luckily traffic was light at the time and I was able to maneuver to the shoulder of the road without incident. It appeared the transmission froze and the vehicle was towed. Land rover has not been able to determine the problem. If I would have been in an area with heavier traffic, or on an interstate I have no doubt that a major crash would have occurred. In researching the 2015 evoque it appears Land Rover has been experiencing significant issues with the 9 speed transmission in this vehicle based on web search results. It appears this transmission has been recalled in several countries, specifically china. I believe that in the interest of public safety a review of this vehicle model's performance history needs extensive review.

35 Power Train problem of the 2003 Land Rover Range Rover

Failure Date: 07/01/2015
