Vehicle: 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport hse, original owner since February 2023. Nature of defect: persistent and unresolved coolant loss from the engine cooling system, with evidence suggesting leaked coolant is contacting hot engine components and creating a potential fire hazard. Chronology: beginning in February 2026, the vehicle began displaying recurring "low coolant" warnings on the instrument cluster. The vehicle has been presented to an authorized Jaguar Land Rover dealership three times for warranty diagnosis and repair of this complaint. On each of the three visits, the dealership replaced a single cooling system component (a hose or o-ring). After each repair, the low coolant warning returned within approximately two weeks. The most recent repair, completed on may 26 2026, involved replacement of an o-ring on a lower coolant hose that had been previously serviced under jlr safety recall n785. The vehicle was returned to me on Thursday, may 28 2026. On Tuesday afternoon, June 2 2026 (approximately five days after the most recent repair), I detected a distinct burning odor from the engine compartment while the vehicle was operating. On Wednesday morning, June 3 2026, I visually inspected the coolant expansion tank and confirmed the coolant level had again dropped below the minimum mark. Safety concern: the combination of recurring coolant loss and a burning odor originating from the engine compartment is consistent with coolant contacting hot engine components — most likely the turbocharger, exhaust manifold, or associated heat shielding. This is the same failure mode that prompted jlr safety recall n785 (NHTSA campaign 23v-221) on 2019-2022 Range Rover Sport phev vehicles, in which leaking coolant onto the turbocharger heat shield was identified by the manufacturer as creating an increased risk of fire. My 2023 Range Rover Sport hse is not currently included within the scope of recall n785.

Safety complaint regarding engine oil leak – same defect as recall n763 (23v044000) vehicle: 2019 Range Rover Sport | VIN: [xxx] description of problem: my vehicle is experiencing an oil leak from the engine area. Upon inspection by my mechanic/dealer, the failure was diagnosed as a blocked or improperly machined oil channel in the engine cam carrier, which is causing oil to leak externally. This is the exact component and failure mode described in Land Rover safety recall n763 (NHTSA campaign 23v044000), which addresses a blocked engine cam carrier oil channel that can lead to an oil leak. Despite having the identical part failure on my vehicle, my VIN is not listed under the current recall scope. Safety concern: I am extremely concerned about the fire risk. An oil leak in the presence of hot engine components or an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire. I have already observed oil spots where I park and occasionally smell burning oil while driving. I believe the recall population should be expanded to include my vehicle, as the defect clearly exists outside the current VIN range. Actions taken: I contacted a Land Rover dealer, but they refused to cover the repair because my VIN is not on the active recall list. We recently bought this vehicle a few weeks ago. Since we’ve had it I have been noticing a strong smell of burning engine coolant. I have looked at similar models of the 2021 Range Rover Sports and they do have recalls for issues with the engine coolant system. I assume this is the same problem the phev Range Rover Sport is having. Today I have a low engine coolant message pop up on the dash.

Vehicle information: year/make/model: 2015 Range Rover Sport VIN: [xxx] current mileage: approximately 127,000+ I purchased this vehicle in 2015 from Jaguar Land Rover parsippany, new jersey, and have consistently maintained it through authorized Jaguar Land Rover service providers. Since as early as 2017, I have reported recurring engine, throttle, and coolant-related issues. As documented in my prior complaint to Land Rover corporate dated April 2017, I raised concerns regarding service integrity and handling of my vehicle (exhibit a). In September 2017, I reported that the vehicle would not accelerate properly, required restarting to function, and exhibited drive mode and throttle issues (exhibit b). By 2021, Jaguar Land Rover glen cove service records confirmed coolant leakage from engine cross-over pipes, repeated low coolant warnings, and engine-related concerns requiring repair (exhibit c). Additional diagnostics identified check engine light activation, restricted performance mode, and recommended repairs that were not resolved (exhibit d). Despite these documented findings, the vehicle was repeatedly returned to me without full resolution of the underlying mechanical defects. On January 22, 2025, Jaguar Land Rover freeport documented that repairs could not be performed due to “pre-existing engine codes” and identified the need for a potential engine replacement exceeding $42,000 (exhibit e). At no point was I clearly advised that the vehicle was unsafe to operate or that continued use could pose a serious safety risk. I was not instructed to discontinue driving the vehicle. My 2012 range rover hse sport, after repeated calls and asking to speak to the appropriate parties about my car, finally got a call and said that the the safety recall was completed to [xxx] and I could pick up my car. He/she said that I would need an engine and I just needed to come in a pick up the keys and car. Car was driveable. After the members refused for 30 days not to repair the safety recall, and upon my insistence, "they" said it was complete. The defect was with the manufacturer call to fix my car. The dealership members were very rude and noncompliant. I asked that they would reach out to the manufacturer and my request to the manufacturer was that honor and fix the engine at in good faith and their expense to the dealership. Their expense. I have reached out to the manufacturer aa well Jaguar Land Rover north America llc who has a foreign business in [xxx] and [xxx] and not being transparent with contacts and demands. I have rented a car for almost 3 months and certainly since the dealership refused for 30 days not to repair my car because of the safety, I feel that those days of extended car rental and the fact the dealership refuse to fix my car, that the dealership should be responsible for the car rental as well. The safety recall is free of charge. I have looked and searched and asked and find that the manufacturer for range rover is originated in [xxx] and doing business in [xxx] and [xxx] . Where each state protects consumer with the lemon law to some degree . Please advise. I fear that the parties who worked on my car has taken advantage of me. Every part acceptable to the engine failur was replaced with parts for range rover dealers and other venue and I had to find a mechanic capable of replacing and diagnosing the issue that still persisted because I was told that the dealership did not service cars under the year 2012. My car completely died and would not start up ending up towing it to the mechanic and he said it was the DC to DC converter and I heard this has been happening to mild hybrid range rovers / sport an all electric ones too.
The alternator on my vehicle (DC to DC convertor) went while driving home with only one sensor prompting me to turn back around and head home to be safe. The car essentially died and power steering was lost. There were no prior warnings or indicators of an issue. I had 15 minutes to make it back home. The car died in intersection, luckily at corner of my street and folks had to help push it into the driveway. Having searched for a replacement, there are no after market options, no used options, and my mechanic was told we are customer 30,335 as thousands of owners are experiencing this very same problem. The estimate weight time for the part was 3 months, at the least. So, we are stuck with an invaluable car, sitting for three months, and forced to pay storage fees at the mechanic shop as well as keeping current on the monthly car payment.
I was driving my vehicle when suddenly I got a "electrical fault has been detected pull over safely" error message. At that time the everything is still running and working. I pulled over safely and shut off the car. I restarted it and it said "low battery, start engine". It was really cold and I imagine as the car kept running, that will recharge the battery. I continued to drive (cautiously on local streets) and about 20 mins later, certain electrical features like lane assist and traction control was not available. A few minutes later, more and more systems were being turned off. Eventually, the car's engine died and there was no electric power to the car. I lost steering and brakes. Everything in the car was electronically controlled. The car rolled to a stop but I was not even able to use my hazard lights. Luckily, it was during the day and I was able to roll to a stop and call for help. This is a safety concern if my engine stopped and I was in the middle lane of a highway. I'm unable to steer, brake, or show signs that I'm in trouble to those behind me. The car was eventually towed to a Land Rover dealer and the service rep said I would need my 48v to 12v DC to DC converter replaced. She has at least 10 other vehicles with this issue. The way the car is designed, when the engine is running, it's powering a 48v battery. The 48v battery then converts the electricity to 12v for all the components of the car. In my case, when the engine was running, it was not able to recharge the 12v battery at all. In a vehicle where everything is controlled electronically (even the door handles), there should be a failsafe so the 12v battery can be charged when the engine is running but the DC to DC converter doesn't work. This is a serious safety concern if this happened I needed to avoid hitting pedestrians. The horn won't work and I can't roll my window down to yell.
Electrical failure of DC to DC converter, confirmed by manufacturer while driving on the highway I got an error message and immediately afterward the entire car shut down. No power steering, no brakes, no lights or hazards, no airbag. I was able to stop the car by gliding into an embankment in the left hand lane of the highway. Was towed to the dealership. Only by luck was my car not hit from behind or cause an accident behind me as I had no ability to put the hazards on. Called 911 several times to assist but they did not come during the two hours I was on the highway. This issue has been reported in other Range Rover Sports 2023 I had a recent full checkup of the car within the last month.

I was driving when an "electrical fault detected" warning came on. The car's instructions were to pull over as soon as possible, as the car's electrical system was draining the battery and the car could shut down within a few miles. We had the car towed to a repair shop where they ran tests on the car and replaced the battery. This did not fix the issue, and they came back a day later to find the brand new battery had drained. I then had it towed to another repair shop who replaced the alternator but that didn't solve the problem so they had it towed to the dealer. The dealer discovered that the DC converter in the car is bad, but said they have 5 cars in the shop with the exact same problem and the part is backordered without an eta. I frequently drive late at night or early in the morning between a small town and a city for work. It's 100 miles each way, most of which is either in mountains with poor cell service or an interstate with a speed limit of 80 mph. During this time of year, the temperatures in this area are often well below freezing. Had this issue happened on one of these drives, I could have very well been stranded with only a few minutes of warning with a high risk of hypothermia or even death. Had it happened on the interstate, the car would have lost complete power, including the steering, endangering not only my life, but my family and anyone else driving nearby. Land rover has acknowledged in their notifications to dealer service departments that this is a known issue, but they have not issued a recall. I strongly believe this is a huge safety risk and that Land Rover should be held accountable for correcting this issue in all affected cars. They are endangering the lives of their customers and anyone who is on the road near Land Rover vehicles. Note: the doc provided in this submission is for an alternator change out that was done because of this electrical issue. The DC converter, which is where the true issue is, will be thousands as well.
The cars electrical system failed while driving on the highway. It first impacted the traction control, then abs, then put the car into neutral while traveling at 70 mph the highway with no ability to put the car into drive. Fortunately I was able to coast into the breakdown lane before the car completely shut off and put itself in park. Had I not been able to get into the breakdown lane we would have been sitting stalled in the middle of the highway with no flashers p putting me, my wife and kids at significant risk of injury or death with cars and trucks going 70+ mph. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer and I have been told it is a DC-to-DC converter that has failed and is the cause of the issue. The dealer informed me that this has been a recurring issue for these vehicles and that parts are on backorder due to the volume or orders. At the time of my call they indicated there is a "significant" number of orders nationally for this part. I was fortunate to have been able to get into the breakdown lane but this would have turned out very differently had I not been able to do that. I think others should be warned/aware of this issue.

Since buying this car brand new it’s been nothing but problem after problem. Newest problem is one I’ve been researching and long history of this issue. Needs to be recalled. It’s a dcdc issue very well known parts are on lengthy back order and the cost is astronomical!!! please help !!!.

The dealer was not contacted regarding the recall, and the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.
Over the last few months my warning light for engine coolant appears and says add coolant now. I will add coolant at preferred vendor. Two weeks later my coolant light will appear again saying add coolant now. When I looked myself after that 4th occasion I saw that the coolant tank was in fact empty and my car was not experiencing a sensory or electrical issue. As far as electrical my car volume will turn up and down on its on at sporadic times. I have had a professional take a look and not one service technician mentioned that I may have a possible leak or electrical problem . They just fill my fluids. However, I am certain there is a leak since my tank is empty almost every 10-14 days and my warning light is coming on to verify. I will be going back to land rover for them to do a more thorough inspection.

As I was driving out of the costco parking lot the car read an error “stop safely. Electrical fault detected” within seconds the car completely shut off. No power. Brakes shut off. Steering shut off.
Constant problems with engine coolant parts made out of plastic.
The engine coolant pipe cross over on top of the engine and the the one in the rear are made of plastic and is a known failure point. One simple search and it is known that its a super common problem that should be recalled and fixed. This is an engineering oversight and cost the car owner over $3000 in repairs if they are lucky to catch it before it destroys the engine.
The component that failed is the charging system alternator on my 2020 Range Rover Sport hst (mild-hybrid). This vehicle has experienced three alternator failures prior to 100,000 miles. The failed alternator and related components are currently in dealer possession and are available for inspection upon request. Failure of the alternator creates a safety risk because loss of charging capability can lead to battery depletion, electrical system shutdown, warning system failure, reduced vehicle functionality, or potential loss of power while driving. Electrical warnings and system faults increase driver distraction and may impair safe operation of the vehicle. The problem has been confirmed and reproduced by an authorized Land Rover dealership, which diagnosed the most recent alternator failure promptly. All maintenance and repairs have been performed exclusively at authorized Land Rover dealerships, with no evidence of owner neglect or misuse. The vehicle is subject to a battery energy control module (becm) recall and related charging system software actions, which affect voltage regulation and the charging architecture that supports alternator operation. The vehicle and charging system have been inspected by the manufacturer’s authorized dealer on multiple occasions. Prior to failure, the vehicle displayed charging system warnings, battery-related messages, and electrical fault notifications. These symptoms appeared before each alternator failure and prompted service visits. Over the past two years, the vehicle has been out of service for approximately 178 days due to repeated electrical and charging-related issues. Given the repeated alternator failures, recall-related charging system involvement, and safety implications of charging loss, this appears to be a systemic electrical defect rather than an isolated incident.
The contact owns a 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 21v635000 (fuel system, gasoline). After the recall repair, the vehicle unexpectedly ran out of fuel even though the instrument panel indicated approximately 90 miles to empty. The contact added fuel and resumed driving; however, the vehicle ran out of fuel while the display showed approximately 50 miles to empty. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer again. Upon inspection, the local dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the engine needed to be replaced due to a coolant line leak. The mechanic reported that there were no diagnostic trouble codes retrieved, and that the vehicle failed to remain running. The manufacturer was contacted, and informed that a specialist would inspect the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 143,764.
Faulty code p0a7b and p0a1f for the battery energy control module becm was diagnosed. Check engine light appeared and then car shut off at a light when attempting to press accelerator. Was told by dealer the part needed replacement instead of just a software update. A recall was shown in general for my year and type but not specifically for my vehicle. My vehicle should be included with this recall to replace the component.
The shop I took my vehicle too says the vehicle is leaking gas. They looked up the VIN for recalls showed me the recall said I'd have to take it to a dealership. So I scheduled an appointment for lakeland Jaguar and Land Rover and they told me they couldn't help me and don't wanna do the work if jlr isn't gonna reimburse them for recall. I can smell gas and it definitely isn't safe to drive. The dealership has written a service sheet but never touched the vehicle. Said they cant see the recall. Systems down. Wondering what do I do?.
Constant loss of coolant, overheating. Coored. Crossover pipes replaces. Pressure tests to coolant system come back as normal, but vehicle requires frequent topping up and dashboard warning lights. Car overheated on highway requiring immediate stopping and tow. After removing starter, pooling found while under pressure on shield under turbo manifold. Exact location of leak is tbd. These repairs should be covered by a recall for how frequently they occur. The mhev turbo is generating too much heat for all of the plastic parts.

Had a recall. I wasn't available on the date or a week or so after the appointment date. An ex of mine that had no authority to take my range rover into the dealership for the recall to get fixed, used my driver's license to get a rental Land Rover to use while my range rover was supposedly being fixed for the leaking fuel tank recall. So, Land Rover didn't care that it wasn't me getting to drive a $70,000 Land Rover while mine was getting fixed for recall. I figure out what happened & where my vehicle was & got the rental back to me in order to go get my vehicle back. I got to take it home,2 days later transmission messed up wouldn't shift out of park,started over heating,& I had to pull it with a rope from the store back home to park it. When I looked under the vehicle cause I was trying to figure out why it was majorly overheating, I then realized the gas was just pouring out near the transmission pan, which is where the fuel line runs from the top of the gas tank. My recall was for the fuel tank leaking originally. Now, Land Rover refuses to fix this major safety hazard/defect, stating that the gas pouring out doesn't stem from the recall. Which is complete bullshit! nothing was wrong with my vehicle when I bought it only a few months before I received the notice about the recall. Now, I can't drive it & it's sitting at the dealership that did the recall & didn't fix it. They towed it 2 days ago to their shop & called me the next day saying that the fuel pouring out & overheating doesn't have anything to do with recall or what they've done. Which is a lie. So, now my car is sitting up at the dealership off of dfw airport & they are expecting me to pay to get it towed back home & that they aren't going to fix my vehicle that they have totally destroyed. I can't get anyone to talk to me or return my calls. I can't get anyone to help me with this. They just hang up or give me a hard time about it & are denying what they have caused for my vehicle. Please help me!.
On 27 July 2025, my 2024 Range Rover Sport, suffered a sudden and catastrophic engine fire while driving shortly after an overheating warning appeared. This occurred approximately two weeks after routine maintenance at a Land Rover dealership. My VIN is not listed in the current recall range, but the defect, symptoms, and safety hazard are identical to vehicles included. This strongly suggests either: 1. Incomplete VIN capture in the recall scope, or 2. A related but unaddressed defect with the same catastrophic consequences. The fire completely disabled the vehicle, placed my safety at extreme risk, and caused total loss. Given the life-threatening nature of this defect, I request NHTSA investigate * expand recall n908 to include my VIN and any similarly affected units, and * require Land Rover to remedy and compensate impacted owners.

My vehicle lags using the accelerator. If you press the gas it taskes 10 seconds for the vehicle to begin moving unless you give it around 40% accelerator then it jumps uncontrollably forward. This happens everyday. I drive this vehicle constantly and the more I drive it the worse it gets. I feel the electric traction motor doesn't engage because of any number of reasons. I bring it to the shop and they charge the battery. After that it works fine for a few days then begins again.
Oil leak and coolant leak took it to dealership while under warranty and they claimed no issues even though I saw the stains on my garage floor and had gear shift issues and black out info camera as well. Car under 70k miles and not end of warranty date but is the end of warranty mileage. Didn’t feel safe on the freeway, had power loss when it was time to restart the car and had smoke under the hood which may result in a fire in the engine compartment that could spread throughout the vehicle. This issue has led to power loss and difficulty controlling the vehicle, increasing the risk of accidents.
