Air Bag Light On Problems of Lexus IS

Got a airbag light on when I started my car this morning. Everything Is intact. Was reading forums about it. Says this problem Is very common. Please let me know I did not take a picture. But if needed I can take a picture and send it to you.

The srs/airbag light illuminated upon startup of my car, code b1861 driver side knee airbag squib open.

We had the passenger airbag replaced as part of a recall. This work was performed by a certified Lexus dealership. When we got the car back after the repair, the passenger airbag light showed �off� even with a passenger in the seat. This airbag light and sensor had always worked correctly prior to the airbag replacement by Lexus. There are multiple complaints of the airbag wiring harness being too short and the replacement airbag causing this same Issue for many other Lexus owners. When we brought the car back to Lexus, they said we would need to purchase a new ecu sensor for thousands of dollars and that this Issue was not part of the recall and not caused by the repair. Again, this Issue arose due to the replacement of the airbag which was performed by Lexus and a required recall.

Airbag light indicator Is on and Lexus insisted they replace the entire wiring harness for over 2k due to safety Issues. The price of this repair for an electrical fault Is obscene and Is a common Issue with this model of Lexus according to owner forums.

The srs airbag light randomly comes on at variable times. After running the analysis with a bosch obd1200, it appears that the drivers side knee squib circuit Is showing an open fault. When the seat Is moved back, the wiring harness fails. Its believed that the factory installation of the wiring harness Is too short, causing strain on the harness connector. This causes a fault on the airbag module and renders the drivers side knee airbag inoperable. This should be considered a safety concern and a recall should fix this Issue.

Plug for knee airbag becomes loose and triggers airbag light. Based on dealer feedback this Is a wire harness plug Issue and will cause the knee airbag to not inflate. This Is a potential safety concern cause by a possible design/manufacturing defect.

The srs airbag light went off, needs a new sensor which Is around $1700. The airbags won't work unless the sensor Is replaced which Is a huge safety Issue.

Takata recall. Recently financed a 2010 Lexus Is250 in Dec 2015. Shortly after I can't recall exactly when I noticed the airbag light was lit on, but I never paid much attention because I assumed that it was lit because it meant working active. After doing research I have learned that this was not the case and Is showing defective. This has been and still Is a big concern for many owners for a safety and deadly reasons. I am almost afraid to drive my car now for fear. I also do not not have the possible quoted other complaints for $3,000+ to fix this safety default. I am very disappointed in Lexus/Toyota for not having these defective non safe airbags on recall.

Started the car this morning 3/29/15 and air bag light came on. Drove to store and came back light still on. Got home light still on. Went to auto shop gave me a code of b1861 srs driver side knee air bag. Sounds very dangerous and im afraid that the air bag wont deploy durning accident.

My Lexus Is 250 air bag light came on. I took it in for service and Lexus of las vegas and they informed me that the wiring harness needs to be replaced because Lexus designed the part wrong. I learned that if I'm in an accident that my safety system will not work. Lexus needs to replace my death trap now. Fix the wiring harness. . . . Dulce ward.

The airbag light Is now constantly displaying red on my dashboard. Nalley Lexus of smyrna GA stated that there Is a short in the wire harness and it needs to be repaired at a cost of $3300 or the airbags will not work in the event of a crash. From reading online in the Lexus owners blogs, this Is very common and I have read in the forums that Lexus, in 2006, 2007, installed a wiring harness that was too short. The harness plugs become loose and in some cases the wire insulation becomes chafed and shorts out the airbag system. I am not aware where the poster got their information but I, along with others think this Is should be a saftey recall.

Over time, airbag wiring harness becomes loose and/or disconnected, causing airbag light to illuminate and disabling one or more airbags in the event of a crash. Lexus dealers confirm the problem but will not fix without costly payment.
